I can’t even imagine the Cartoon Network of 2018 taking such a risk with a project like this. The network has really gone downhill since 2014, going from a network willing to fund a wonderful passion project like this to one comfortable running 24 hour marathons of an awful spinoff of one of their good shows from a time when they were more interested in quality over mass-produced garbage.

I absolutely love everything about Over the Garden Wall. I even watched it when it first aired and immediately fell in love with it. Thank you for publicizing how absolutely stunning it is.
I truly think Over the garden wall is one of the most beautifuly animated and well written cartoons. The colours are so beautiful. I completley agree whit Sabberspark its a must watch.
So, I watched it now, as it appeared on my Netflix this week :D And I am STUNNED! I think what you might have forgotten to mention is the way that they're telling the story, that just works without any screaming, over-the-top action sequences or hectic chase scenes. The whole story is told so calm and relaxing that you get a feeling of secureness while diving deeper into the world. And because nothing is what it seems, Wirt and Greg never get so deeply in trouble that you feel like "Oh god, this is the end. its all over now". I can give you a picture how the story feels like. Imagine, you are dreaming of snow and winter. In real life you would freeze and shiver, but this story makes the cold and danger feel like warm and cuddly snow to lay yourself into. And it makes you so happy in the end. Its really a great show and isnt even longer than a single movie, you would watch any other day.
He needs to do a video about the best cartoons on Netflix. Some of my favorites are Trollhunters, Voltron, and Castlevainia. Also the newest show Hilda is really good!
11:00 Over The Garden Wall did have a spin-off comic. Love the show, agree with everything ya said, but Over The Garden Wall did in fact have a ‘spin-off’ and that was the come book series, first stated out as a comic book special in 2014. Then the popularity of that led to a 4 issue miniseries, then in 2016 they announced an ongoing series for it. They are excellent comics! There are also some one-shot graphic novels like Distillatoria and Hollow Town. I highly recommend them if you love the worldbuilding!
@Carne Guisada yep. For me, it's a little bit of Spirited Away mixed with Howl's Moving Castle and The Adventures of Mr. Toad and Ichabod Crane. The morals and such are similar to Ghibli films with the seasonal storytelling and Americana of Mr. Toad (Wind in the Willows) and Ichabod Crane (Sleepy Hollow).
Over the Garden Wall has to be my favorite animated series, I love the characters and style, it definitely inspires me to keep up with my stories and art!
Have you seen Hilda yet. Gravity Fall vibes, even though the graphic novels for Hilda came out before Gravity Falls. Only seen the show, but absolutely amazing.
Ain’t that just the way... The reason this show is so amazing, is how layered it is. Every single piece is apart of a bigger puzzle. When the show ends and you get the full picture, you realize how everything was telling a story. The show is actually deeply rich in character development and storytelling. And it’s one of those shows where you keep watching it over and over, because you notice new things. Given how little time they had, it’s amazing how well done it all is. I just wish the show was longer. I don’t think it needed to be more than a season. It’s a set story. It’s basically a feature length movie. The storytelling would suffer, if this show was seasons long. But they could have easily had 10 more episodes. Like more adventures, that fleshed things out a little more. Without getting into spoilers, this show has a specific beginning and end. But they easily could have added 10 episodes into the middle, without impacting the story in a bad way.
I totally agree with you. I I would've also settled with longer episodes, so if they only kept the 10 they made, they should've at least made them a little longer. The animation and character development are immaculate and the story telling was so intriguing. I have only seen it once; I missed the chance to watch it in 2014, but I feel like it was always a part of my childhood.
I watched it when it came out with my parents and we enjoyed it, we recorded it and still have it, its an amazing show And damn 2014, thought it was aired in 2016 or 2015 but it's older... Wow time truly passes fast
I would really like a spoiler episode just so you can share your thoughts about the series and telling us your favorite moments or episodes. Maybe some theory crafting as well and stuff like that. I watched the series this year after someome told me she watched it like 30 times and it never got old, and I can see why. Also, don't try potatoes and molasess, they aren't as good as they pitched it in the show...
As someone who grew up in rural Pennsylvania, the autumnal setting and score really dig deep in a nostalgic and haunting way. The imagery is like how I remember Fall Foliage festivals, Halloween, and just walking outside in the crisp air.
Definitely one of my favorite series' ever. Its very unique and so well executed, from the story, to the art, to the characters... I love the mysterious, warm feeling of it; I don't think I'll ever get tired of it.
This show stole my heart when I first saw it and its now an autumn classic that me and my little brother watch every year, the relationship between Greg and Wirt is just beautiful and I'll never forget it.
I loved it because of the setting, voice acting and story. Everything was wrapped up consistently in 10 episodes that delivered a satisfactory ending. Definitely something to watch in this season, especially when you have Samuel Ramey as The Beast it is mind blowing
Thank you for doing this. Over the Garden is really special, this is one of the first time CN actually put out a Miniseries and I couldn't agree more when you said this show is amazing.

Me: **finishes watching Over The Garden Wall** **sees this video** **rewatches Over The Garden Wall** I watched the show for the first time today and I love it SO much. Ima take a leaf out of Saber’s book and make it a tradition to watch it every autumn
I really like that every episode has a twist, in a sort of covert way where you're never expecting it or trying to predict it until the last few episodes when the series really ramps up. The show is truly the unknown, and nothing is as it seems. Not the people they meet or the things they encounter. It truly is a modern Alice In Wonderland.
over the garden is a amazing show because it show characters that don't matter but they still have a back story and the story's of this show are unique and that it shows a bad side and good to it so thanks for bringing it up
I just watched this series because it was rated very highly on IMDB, and it absolutely deserves it. It does more in the span of less than 2 hours than most shows can do in several seasons.
im so glad this wonderful show is getting more attention, because it totally deserves it, the animation and backgrounds are breathtaking, the music is almost nostalgic and is so well done it gives me chills, the story is really fun to follow, and the voice actors are all perfect for their roles. It's definitely one of my favorite things to watch over and over during October.
I finally got around to watching OTGW and I had to come back here to comment. I couldn't stop smiling during the first half of episode 6! I know little kid characters can be annoying to some people but Greg never came off that way for me. I loved seeing the brothers play off of each other and I could just imagine the shift in their relationship after the final episode. Although it's self contained with 10 episodes, a part of me will always want a small peek into Wirt and Greg's lives after that final ep.
watching this every fall is a tradition among friends and I! I love it. But I will never cease to be amused by the fact that Wirt is named Wirt it's such a funny name slfjhlfsjh
It was the music in this show that really attracted me to it. The first song I heard was Miss Langtree's Lament. I loved it so much I decided that I needed to watch the show.
this has been my favorite show since it came out! i love it so much and i think it’s awesome to see some relatively well-known youtubers that enjoy it too !!
Definitely one of my favorite CN shows and cartoons in general. The dark, yet still sometimes lighthearted tone really is something that really grabs me in many shows like Adventure Time and Regular Show. Certainly worth watching if anyone hasn’t seen it.
I absolutely love Over The Garden Wall I was wish there was more of it but I’m fine what I’ve got from it as well it’s one of my favourite shows to watch on Halloween!!^^
I saw it last year and absolutely loved it. You covered all the best things about it, and now you've made me want to re-watch it! It really stuck out to me and was just so bizarre and unique and wonderful. Your videos are so great and this one made me very happy :D
It can be hard for me and my bestie to hang out in the fall due to our schedules, but Over the Garden Wall brings us together every year to watch it again. Its quality and rewatchability and overall feel is something that brings people together. I highly recommend watching it with friends and family, as it's genuinely wonderful to see how other people react to it, too.

When I first saw this, I watched the episode with the animal school. Since Wirt had the triangle nose and gnome hat, I thought it was an animal crossing based show lmao.
You're not going to mention the subtle Dante's inferno elements strewn about the series?
Spoilers, prob.
@@jemm113 well then it's a good thing I don't know what that is XD
Its just a theory so it wasn't mentioned
So, this show takes place in hell?
@@Dave102693 Something like that. Trey the Explainer made a video a while back about this.
I was already leaning toward finally watching this, but you gave the final push I needed. I think it's so sweet that they got Jack Jones to sing.
Me: **finishes watching Over The Garden Wall**
**sees this video**
**rewatches Over The Garden Wall**
I watched the show for the first time today and I love it SO much.
This is literally my favorite short show ever
I've been meaning to watch this mini-series for a while now. Your video surely convinced me to start at some point next month!
over the garden is a amazing show because it show characters that don't matter but they still have a back story and the story's of this show are unique and that it shows a bad side and good to it so thanks for bringing it up
I'm convinced.
I was already going to check it out just from things you said about OTGW in previous videos. But this video definitely convinced me.
I watch Over the Garden Wall every year on Halloween night!

Probably the most beautiful and memorable cartoon i have ever seen
Ok you’ve convinced me to watch this show...
For the 9th time
watching this every fall is a tradition among friends and I! I love it. But I will never cease to be amused by the fact that Wirt is named Wirt it's such a funny name slfjhlfsjh
It was the music in this show that really attracted me to it. The first song I heard was Miss Langtree's Lament. I loved it so much I decided that I needed to watch the show.
I can agree that this was probably one of best mini series on Cartoon Network it is a perfect fall themed show. The tavern is a great part
this has been my favorite show since it came out! i love it so much and i think it’s awesome to see some relatively well-known youtubers that enjoy it too !!
Man I loved this show so much, I even cried during the last episode
IT’S HERE! Oh my gosh, I’ve always loved this show, thank you for telling people about it.
I love this show I wish there were more episodes
I don't. It's perfect the way it is, don't need the company execs beating this one into the ground.
@@jessip8654 that's a good point I never thought about that
OTGW randomly appeared in my Hulu recommendations and I watched the entire thing! It was so good. Idk how I missed this for so long.
I watch over the garden wall multiple times every fall since I was introduced by this video 3 years ago.
I was just introduced to it the last week
I'm so glad I stumbled upon this show a few days ago! It feels like a combination between Studio Ghibli and Adventure Time.
The dog with the raincloud cracks me up every time, never fails
Definitely one of my favorite CN shows and cartoons in general. The dark, yet still sometimes lighthearted tone really is something that really grabs me in many shows like Adventure Time and Regular Show. Certainly worth watching if anyone hasn’t seen it.
Please, make a "Why you should watch Paranorman."
This is my all time favorite animated series and fall tradition too!
Fun Fact: *In Our Country We Have One Character With The Same Voice As Finn From Adventure Time*
Thank you so much for this. Over the garden wall is one of my favourite animated mini series and I’m glad to see that it got some recognition
Over The Garden Wall is amazing and that's a rock fact!
The music in OTGW is so good! It's wonderful to see a modern cartoon with such an 'old-timey' soundtrack. Patient is the Night is probably my favorite
I absolutely love Over The Garden Wall I was wish there was more of it but I’m fine what I’ve got from it as well it’s one of my favourite shows to watch on Halloween!!^^
Mizuki well there's the comic book series that tell more stories between and after events in the show.

I saw it last year and absolutely loved it. You covered all the best things about it, and now you've made me want to re-watch it! It really stuck out to me and was just so bizarre and unique and wonderful. Your videos are so great and this one made me very happy :D
Over the Garden Wall is truly a beautiful show!
