I use the same method to quickly test Glow plugs, I would recommend the Draper Test Light as its Extra Long and makes contacting the glow plug tip easier.
Also, Continuity to chassis should be zero? (Or a known resistance, compared to the thread to contact on a new plug?) Clip a meter probe to a long screwdriver, touch the end that tip, should get a "beep" to negative? . Just checked. Bosch say a typical resistance of 1-6 ohms.
Important to understand why you must change all four plugs to avoid those possible pitfalls. Any idea why number 2 is the first to fail . Thanks for the straight talking details. Hope you can get home for Christmas 🐥🦆🦆🐥🐥🐥
Those testers are good for hooking up an inverter (240-12v). Hold it on the live for a couple of seconds before live connection - protects the electronics - the lamp glows rather than putting a surge in 🙂

Interesting find that Jimmy the glow plug number two is always naff.

Is this with the engine off or ignition lights on or engine running, cheers👍
Straight from the battery, thought the bulb, though the plug, to ground.
No ignition needed.
@@rogerstarkey5390 excellent cheers 👍
Easier at the relay itself?
Not good enough way to test, use ohmeter as when glowplugs age they take longer to warm up. The resistance also increases
The glow plug may show that it is working but in fact it will not work correctly
