    William was the first 'Dr' and a great actor.
    Because of William, we now have the legacy of one of the most iconic
    SI-FI series that ever was, and because of him it is still with us today!
    I would also like to thank, 'Mark Gatiss', for the 50th tribute drama - 'An adventure in space and time', many thanks, wonderful!
    Thank you William, with love and respect.

    3:28 - I wonder if that line was written to point out that this was Hartnell's very last preformance of the Doctor. Wheter it was or not, it's a very fitting line.

    My first experience of watching Dr Who was at 6 years seeing William in the Chase. RIP .

    I can still recall watching the first episode of Dr Who in November 1963. I was 14 years old. I became quite an enthusiast and wrote a letter to William Hartnell at the BBC asking him for pictures of the cast. He actually responded with a handwritten letter and the said photos. Can you imagine anybody doing that these days? If only I still had that letter. A treasure. I will also add that at that impressionable age I fell hopelessly in love with Carole Anne Ford. I went to the Schoolboys Exhibition at Olympia that year. They had Daleks rushing around us in the queue. The only time I have ever appeared on the BBC! Inside I saw Carole and still have this memory and picture in my (Grandad now) heart. She looked at me!!!!!!! Memories. Thank you Bill and Carole.

    Having introduced my mother to the franchise, says that One is her favorite. Reminds her of her own father, my grandfather. And that laugh of Hartnell's is absolutely infectious.🤪

    Interesting that his natural accent is more "London" than "received pronounciation"/public school accent he used at The First Doctor.

      @@AndrewChapman Sure, but not the original encarnation. Chibnall changed that in exchange of what? Having dozens of other lifes we don't care at all?

    • @NevByte
      @NevByte 4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      William's contribution isn't suddenly going to disappear because of this. As far as marketing is concerned he'll still be the First Doctor as well. In a way he still is the "First Doctor" in universe too, it just now means "First Doctor we knew".
      This is no different from the War Doctor technically changing the NuWho Doctor numbering around yet Eccleston is still 9, Tennant 10 so on and so forth. As far as marketing is concerned the numbering still remains and people still consider the them with the official numbering.

    • @niebo3179
      @niebo3179 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@NevByte The War Doctor exists because Moffat couldn´t get Eccleston and it didn´t seem right with McGann´s Doctor.
      What´s the point of having previous encarnations? Before the Timeless Children, every new Doctor was an event. Every Doctor was special, unique. Now we don´t even know how many faces he had before. Some random guy or woman can appear in a show during 5 minutes and says he/she was The Doctor too.
      Chibnall made the Doctor less special... in adition to what exactly? I don´t get it.
      I think he only made it because he wanted the Doctor to be all kind of races before, because that is so "cool".

    • @timrob12
      @timrob12 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Oh, don't be fooled. Of course Hartnell is still the original Doctor. The faces before him (which were by the way invented in Brain of Morbius back in Tom Baker's era) are previous versions, yes, but not ones that went by the title of Doctor.

  • @TechGamer-pq1gu
    @TechGamer-pq1gu 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    William Hartnell was amazing during his first few years of playing the Doctor sadly his failing health affected him both personally and professionally causing him to miss out on his lines during the show but he was right though the Doctor always does come back hopefully the BBC gains a backbone and save their show from the menace that that is Chris Chibnall.
