And even if the patient exceeds BMI>30 and the doctor says the patient needs it, the insurance company can just say No we don't cover weight loss medications. Instead they collect their $900/month insurance rate (BCBS rate for self employed) while waiting for the patient develops diabetes... with the hopes they will die or move along to another company so the insurance company only collects and never pays. This is why healthcare is horrible in the US!!! This is why so many people go to Mexico or order from Canada. Eventually we will all give up on the insurance companies and save that money for mail order blood tests, surgeries in Asia, dental care in Mexico and pharmacies in Canada! Yeah America!

Previously they considered healthy food to be a "lifestyle choice" but in the year 2031 we know that healthy food access is a critical part of health insurance.

They are quick to allow pain medication, but people can’t get medication that will help with weight loss. People pay all that money for insurance, but it’s a problem when it come to medication that can be helpful.

Pain medication is for managing a problem that cannot simply be solved by diet and exercise alone. 🙄
A healthy lifestyle matters a lot more than the extra pounds around your waist. I'm not paying a higher premium because people want to be lazy.

What about those who have life long PCOS who are borderline D2 and obese. PCOS patients are overlooked. The condition increases glucose and cholesterol levels, and increases risks to heart disease. It's an issue and just giving us a diet and exercise plan is just one step.

      No,
people should be accountable for the foods they eat. I'm not willing to pay a higher premium because people want some expensive magic pill instead of striving for a healthier lifestyle. Stocky people can be healthier than a skinnier people depending on their habits. So by that point, you're only doing it for the looks. The only money that should be invested is in prevention. Teach kids to exercise more and eat whole foods instead of a bunch of processed junk their parents hand out without a second thought.

It will be cheap in time. The Ozempic patent goes away in 7 years. And there are many similar drugs coming on the market every day!

Ozempic and Wegovy are the same thing. They just changed the name to one of them so it could be used for weight loss. They are also both made by the same company. If you don’t want to believe that, I suggest reading some articles online that will help you see that they are both the same thing.

I don't think this drug should be available to all obese or overweight people.
The drug is designed to solve a "hormone" problem (insulin), and should therefore be restricted to overweight or obese people with some kind of hormone irregularity.
Some overweight people are perfectly healthy especially the women who's fat deposits are mostly below the waistline, on the hips and buttocks.
If your fat is naturally stored around your hips and bums then that means your body has already moved fat storage far from your essential organs. Exercise is will keep you healthy, even if you're still overweight.
People who store their fat deposits around the stomach, arms and upper body should exercise and stick to the recommended BMI weight. And if they have thyroid, gut problems, reproduction hormone issues or other hormonal issues then the drug may be an option.

Why do you say it is poison? All meds have side effects. This one has some rough ones I admit. For me it has lowered my HgbA1c, my BMI, my risk for heart disease as evidenced by lowering my BP(weight loss r/t) . It also turned off the instant need to eat. Just like alcohol , weed , or meth , food is an addiction and should be treated as such.

I’ve been on Ozempic since September and lost 80 lbs. I’m still considered obese and need both knees replaced. I’ve been on every major diet over 40 yrs including stomach surgery. None helped until Ozempic. My blood sugar has normalized and even though I’m not light enough to get my knees done my insurance is now denying me coverage. I can’t do many exercises because of severe osteoporosis and osteoarthritis. This drug has been a godsend to this old lady. Today I go to the Dr and I’ve been crying all morning.
