Not to discount Derek Trucks, cause he’s the greatest modern blues guitarist out there, but in Open E tuning, whatever fret you’re at, you’re playing in that key. The fretboard is more or less the same, but everything fits in one place traditionally. Derek is a monster and goes everywhere, but being tuned to Open E actually makes playing slide easier. Duane said it best, you just put the slide on and shake your hand around until what you want comes out😂

@@jakemguitarist Years back, I used to play Duane's version from Fillmore album in open A tuning until I tried open E and realised Duane probably used E. Didn't have TH-cam in those days!!
