“The Leaky Cauldron. That’s what I call my booty.”
“I’m the one who made it that way.”
You two need help 🤣😂🤣😂🤣
You guys seem to have caught on to the fact that each movie has a different Defence Against the Dark Arts teacher. It's not explored in the films, but in the books Tom Riddle (Voldemort) when he was much younger actually went to Dumbledore and applied for the position to teach Defense Against the Dark Arts but Dumbledore told him no and so when he left he put a curse on that position so that there would never be someone who taught that for more than a year.
not confirmed, that's a mere theory
@@leonardolonghi3472a pretty good theory
Yes but people must stop saying things as if they were stated, canon and true when they're just theories.@@fantasy-writing-v5z
@@leonardolonghi3472 for Fourty some years; unlikely.
Wasn't the professor from the first movie there for longer? When Harry talks to someone during the first meal in the Great Hall, they say Snape "has been after Quirrel's position for years". That's plural
My favorite things about Prisoner Of Azkaban:
1. The song "Double Trouble".
2. Hermione punching Malfoy right in his smug face.
3. The introduction of Gary Oldman as Sirius Black and David Thewlis as Remus Lupin.
4. Harry flying on Buckbeak's back over Hogwarts (SPECTACULAR scenery).
All of yours plus the Firebolt for me. My favorite book.
@@malalaz66
Harry's sheer joy riding the Firebolt was awesome
Hermione never punched Draco in the face in the books and Harry never flew over Hogwarts on buckbeak in that scene in the books neither.
The scene in the shrieking shack with those amazing actors does it for me, probably my favourite film of the series, though not my favourite book
@@ChelseaChfy-ex1po The book also didn’t have Double Trouble in it. OP is obviously talking about the MOVIE.
Fun fact the creators of the map are, James potter (prongs), Sirius black (padfoot), Remus lupin (moony), and Peter pettigrew (wormtail).
There’s a reason the teacher was scared of a full moon
Personally I see it as that he’s not afraid of the literal moon, he’s afraid of people discovering he’s a werewolf. Like how Lupin says that the Boggart turning into a Dementor for Harry implies that the thing Harry fears is fear itself, not just Harry fearing Dementors
@@marieporter9488right. he is ashamed of being a warewolf so he is afraid to turn
Harry is always just one year older with each movie. Each movie is a school year.
42:10 you solved the riddle of Sirius Black disguise and I smiled! Smart! Love your reactions guys! Enjoy 😊
my fav of the franchise, the year where this series stops being some nice family entertainment and takes a more serious and dark tone as its standard, which also mirrors in the trio (and lots of other kids in the cast) physically growing out of puberty
That's the 4th movie lol, nothing hits the fan until that Triwizard cup.
@@SonsOfMars. nope, 3rd year is where the difference with the predecessor is huge
4th year is just "keep going with it"
Also the wizardry medieval style is so cool and, personally, is more coherent to the books
Dudley getting wacked with buttons 😂😂😂
My favorite part will always be when snape throws himself in front of the children. Man just got blasted and still didn’t hesitate
Snape: *sees the kids* - "Get here, you little..."
Snape: *sees the werewolf* - "Everyone behind me, you little..."
Absolutely same. I had this exact scene as my Facebook cover photo for years!
One of the things that was left out of the movie but was in The Prisoner of Azkaban novel is that James Potter (Harry's father), Sirius Black, Remus Lupin, and Peter Pettigrew were the original inventors of The Marauders Map. That is the reason why Professor Lupin knew how to use it. When the original Marauders were students in Hogwarts they were all best friends. When James, Sirius and Peter found out that Remus is a werewolf they decided to become Animagus (wizards that can willfully magically turn into an animal just like Professor McGonagall can turn into a cat) because werewolves don't attack other animals and Remus' friends didn't want him to be alone during the full moon period. This is why the map reveals the weird names when you use the "I solemnly swear I am up to no good" spell. They were the nicknames of the Marauders. Mooney is Remus Lupin because he is a werewolf. Padfoot is Sirius Black because his animagus form is a dog. Wormtail is Peter Pettigrew because his animagus form is a rat. And James Potter is Prongs because his animagus form is a stag.
Dumbledore knew about Remus' condition and how Remus became a werewolf when he was only a very small child. So he had the Womping Willow tree planted and had a tunnel put in so that Remus can hide in the Shrieking Shack during the full moon cycle.
🌜🌕🌛🐺🐶🦌🐀🪄🌳🏚
Harry Shouting "EXPECTO PATRONUM!!" will always give me goosebumps
this movie really set the standards on the next entries in the story, as Chirs Columbus planned to direct every single Harry Potter movie but couldn't due to essentially being a little impossible to do, so Alfonso Cuaron took the director's chair and kind of made his own spin with camera direction and tone and that gamble was worth it with making the transition for the characters growing up be more immersive and how the story progresses.
Same
A little more info on the dementors to understand them better: Dementors literally feed on human happiness and thus generated feelings of depression and despair in any person in close proximity to them. They could also consume a person's soul, leaving their victims in a permanent vegetative state, and thus were often referred to as "soul-sucking fiends", and the people they left soulless were deemed to have been turned into an "empty-shell". The reason the professor gave Harry chocolate after a dementor attack was to in a way recharge him since chocolate is a source of happiness that is released from endorphins when it is consumed.
FINALLY! THIS IS MY FAVORITE ONE IN THE SERIES!!
27:15 man your guys reactions to this whole hippogriff flight rly threw me back to my first watch, thank you guys!
y'all had us waiting! lmaoo definitely my favorite harry potter movie :)
Fun facts the actress that plays the lady that blows up like Mrs. Puff also plays the principal in Matilda. Pam Ferris.
Her name is Aunt Marge.
Fun fact, the marauders map say it was made by moony, wormtail, padfoot, and prongs, those are the nicknames of professor lupin, Peter petigrew, serious Black, and Harry’s father, professor lupin is moony because he is a warewolf, Peter petigrew is wormtail because he turns into a rat, serious black is padfoot because he turns into a dog, and Harry’s father is prongs because his patronis is a stag.
Those who made the map were 4 friends
Moony : Remus Lupin
Wormtail : Peter Pettigrew (traitor)
Padfoot : Sirius Black
Prongs : James Potter
It`s so good to see that you`re laughing and having fun watching Harry Potter🤎🧡🤎
Harry didn't blow up Marge on purpose. He lost control of his magic because he was so angry. Hrry would have at least gotten a stern talking to if the Minister hadn't been more worried about keeping Harry safe from Sirius.
The Leaky Cauldron is the same place Hagrid took Harry to in the first movie. That's where the entrance to Diagon Alley is.
The dementors are Rowling's physical representation of depression. Plus they're just plain scary.
Hermione was using the time turner to take extra classes this year. She turned in the time turner at the end of the year because without Divination and Muggle studies she had a manageable schedule the next year.
Thw Whomping Willow was planted there to hide the tunnel to the Shrieking Shack the year Lupin started Hogwarts. Dumbledore needed a safe place to lock Lupin up during the full moon while he was at school. Lupin had been turned into a werewolf as a small child before he started school at 11.
In the book Snape was unconscious until after the dementors attacked so he wasn't there to protect anyone.
Expecto Patronum was one spell that Harry learned long before Hermione did.
Harry's father and his 3 friends created the Marauder's Map.
Moony = Remus Lupin = werewolf
Wormtail = Peter Pettigrew = rat
Padfoot = Sirius Black = dog
Prongs = James Potter = stag
When James, Sirius and Peter found out Remus was a werewolf they spent a few years teaching themselves to become animagi in secret so they could safely keep him company when he was a werewolf.
Mooney = Remus Lupin (Werewolf)
Wormtail = Peter Pettigrew (Rat)
Padfoot = Sirius Black (Dog)
Prongs = James Potter (Stag)
The four of them were friends in school. Pettigrew, Black, and Potter learned how to shapeshift in order to keep Lupin company during the full moon. They also made the Marauder's Map together; that's why Lupin knew what it was the moment he saw it.
This movie has major Fall vibes 🍂 🎃
one more like until 800. im so excited for you guys to continue with the series
46:31 Damn, Harry you didn’t have to take Neville’s lollipop like that.
Radcliffe actually was 13-14 during filming, his voice just broke early and I think he’s always had a mature demeanor about him which is probably why he came across as 16 to you. All things considered I think the filmmakers did a great job making sure the student cast didn’t age too fast for their characters. I mean look at shows like Riverdale with late 20s Cole Sprouse playing a 16-year-old lol
Idk if someone else said it or not, but to keep up with the actors/actresses aging between movies, all the movies was made back to back so they looked their proper ages in the movies, which i think was a good idea
It was very cool that James and Lily made Sirius Black, Harry's god father.
*Sirius, he's named after the star.
When Lily and James died, she was pregnant with her second child, and convinced James to let Snape be the second child's godfather.
just got home from work. this is perfect timeing fr. gonna relax and watch this with yall 🍷🤞🏼
Fun Fact!!
The Hermione punch was actually Tom Feltons(Malfoy) idea. The original idea was a slap but we get a punch. At first Emma didnt want to do it but then went along and actually felt bad after slapping the s*** outta him the first time 😅
Fun Fact:
The actress who played Aunt Marge (Pam Ferris) also played The Trunchbull in Matilda.
Hippogriff’s, werewolves, and dementors, oh my!
Monster books, shrunken heads and boggarts, oh my!
Backstabbers, maps, and rats, oh my!
3rd movie, less goooo!
In the Prisoner of Azkaban book, Professor McGonagall got permission from the Ministry of Magic to allow Hermione to borrow a Time Turner so that she may take as many classes as she like. But taking so many classes with the Time Turner began to take a large physical toll on Hermione. She was cramming almost 48 hours of living into a 24 hour day. She even started having a hard time staying awake during the day. By the very end of the book Hermione returned the Time Turner to Professor McGonagall not only because it was physically getting far too difficult to live that many extra hours in a single day but Hermione began to consider the Time Turner way too powerful of a temptation to use for other reasons. Like Hermione said to Harry, "Terrible things happens to wizards who meddle with time".
⏳️🪄
Come on, people! If you're here for the 3rd movie, you know you like the reactions. Hit the like button so we can get to the next one!!
Yeah, you have to appreciate, snape may be an asshole, but when faced with a werewolf, his first instinct was to protect the children with his body.
The park in which Hermione punches Malfoy is unforgettable.
As well as glorious
@@marieporter9488I feel like that should be a gif did you just want to watch it over and over again kind of like that guy getting the top of his head cut off in House of the dragon you don't know how many damn times I hit the back button to watch it happen again and again and again and again
6:27 Cannonically, the series takes place in the early 90s, I think, so cell phones weren't as common yet, ergo, Harry couldn't call his friends. The funny thing is you hardly ever see muggle tech anyway since the focus is on magic, so it isn't really that noticable!
This was the first movie I ever saw in a theater.
Surprisingly enough, Peter was never on the run from Sirius. He is hiding from Voldemort's servants, the ones who went to jail for him, and the ones who are still lurking around society, faking like they've seen the error of their ways.
Voldemort went to the Potter's home on Peter's info, and then a day later, Voldemort up and disappears. From that perspective, it very much looks like Peter screwed him over, and he knows that if any of them ever catch him, he's dead. That's why he never returned to his human form.
This movie was scary when I was a kid. Makes the previous two look like Disney movies.
As soon as the video started, once again, sea men everywhere
at 1:10:42 I wouldn't really say Serius being in jail was a fault of the justice system in this case or a matter of corruption, but rather the fact that he was legitimately framed and had no counter evidence to prove he was innocent since the actual traitor immediately went into hiding as a rat. if anything, it just shows how conniving the villains were in this movie that they made a scheme that was able to trick the justice system with no leads tied back to them, and set up Serius to look like the he was the perpetrator since he could fit a lot of the criteria for the evidence. (family friend, knew where they were hiding, and the only one left "alive" who it could be tied back to since peter was presumed dead)
following the internal logic of the world's story and the perspective of those in it, it would make perfect sense as to why they would think Serius was the guilty one due to the reasons listed above. we the viewer see the whole picture and learn the true context, something that most characters in-universe, even the legal system, did not have access to. doesn't make it any less tragic though.
Voldemort cursed the Defense against the Dark Arts position at Hogwarts.
R.I.P. Albus Dumbledore.
When I read the books I always imagine it's Richard Harris.
That's just me. I know many preferred Michael Gambon.
The twins must have never used the map on Ron while he was at school, or else they would ask why Ron was sleeping with this guy named Peter all the time.
My favourite of the movies. Humours good and the story. Visuals took a step up from second film as well.
Those are some big-a$$ frogs in the choir!
The whomping willow is a mean tree. It was set there to guard the entrance to the Shrieking Shack.
I love their front door locks. The first time I saw it when we thought the executioner did Buckbeak, I was P!$$ED!!!!
Snape didn't follow them to the Shack. He went too Lupin's office to give him a potion to help lessen the effects of his werewolf transformation and saw them in the Marauders Map that was on Lupin's desk. Professor Lupin is one of the makers of the Marauders Map. Moony- Lupin, Wormtail- Peter, Padfoot- Sirius and Prongs- James.
I would have had to throw the Avada Kedavra at Peter before he got away. Harry's mother's patronus is a doe. His father's (Prongs) was a stag.
Sirius sent the new broom.
Because those were toads, which are often a bit bigger than frogs.
while I agree that Malfoy was to blame, if we are going to be honest about it, a hippogriff is not a 3rd year level creature. By the normal standards it would be a 5th year at the earliest, so Hagrid was out of line. In the book he even had a group of them, meaning that when the students started to engage with them they were too spread out for Hagrid to moniter them all. this issue is made even worse by the fact that Hagrid cannot use magic so his ability to respond to an emergency would be lessened. Morally Draco fucked up by taunting and insulting Buckbeak, but legally Hagrid is accountable for the injury of a student, since he should not have used so dangerous a creature for a first lesson.
Unfortunately I have to agree. But then again Hagrid is not very good at risk assessment. Like sending Harry and Ron into the Forbidden Forest, last school year, so sure they wouldn't be harmed.
Hagrid deals with weird creatures as a hobby the whole time, makes sense he'd have "different danger parameters" from your average student🤔
LFG!!!!! Love this movie series so damn much.
I love how people have no fucking clue how the whole time travel part of the movie works
They're not here to change anything, quite the opposite, since everything has already happened, they go back in time to make sure everything that was supposed to happen happens.
Nothing changed at all in fact, if you notice, because nobody saw them
Nobody sees Buckbeak getting executed, because he was never executed, and all the movie there are little hints like that, you never see what really happens, you just assume, and then they go back in time and you finally see what happened
Something to ponder.. When Harry is first given the marauders map AND when Snape told Harry to read it to him, it starts with ‘Messers Moony, Wormtail, Padfoot & Prongs..’ They are the authors that made the map.. any ideas on who they might be..?
Do you know if you have an iPhone and tell Siri limos flashlight goes on. Say Nox turns off.
800 likes! Can't wait for Goblet of Fire :)
I hope you like the time turners in the movie, because they will NEVER use them again. I’m not even kidding, they have one of the most powerful magical items in the franchise, and they never use or feature them again in future movies.
Jk knew that time turners would cause plot holes in future books cos people would raise questions like “ why didn’t they use them time turners to solve their problems” so she had them destroyed
why do you think it was secretly handed over to Hermione, the only responsible member of the group, for study purposes only? and she only uses it because Dumbledore allows it that one time...
time travel is far too chaotic to use it this randomly
That’s because there all destroyed in a future movie (won’t spoil what movie actually I don’t think the movie shows them getting destroyed lol”
This is the movie that starts butchering Ron's character giving his best lines to Hermione, it was Ron who stood up to Sirius with his broken leg in the book and said "if you want to kill Harry you have to kill us first", also the snow scene was very ooc, in the book it was just Ron and Harry bromance as Hermione was against Harry going to Hogsmede and even threatened to report him and get him expelled (for his own good) but to promote Harry and Hermione they inserted her, they ignored her stick by the rule all time trait and made her more open then she ever was, both Ron and Hermione were great in their own way but also had flaws, but movies made Hermione an over perfect Marry Sue and gave other characters like Ron and Ginny's best lines and acts to her, she was great on her own and didn't need it, in doing so this movie started Ron's character butchering and made him a troll who could barely even speak a single sentence! Next movies cut down so much because the books get much bigger (600+ pages), which can't be fit into 2 hour films and thats why it would have been better to make a TV series of this than movies, or GOF, OOTP and HBP 2 parts like DH (OOTP is the biggest so much happened but the movie skipped all that). The movie is still ok but Ron's character butchering hurt it!
Happy 20Th Anniversary Of Harry Potter & The Prisoner Of Azkaban
With each movie I am more and more confident that I would like to live in this magic world.
Almost everything, even what considered to be good, trying to kill you.
1:22:50 no, first attempt. You only see the interactions the first time (hitting the pots with the stone in hagrids etc.) because in this universe time travel doesn't create a new timeline. Basically if there was none of those interactions the first time round, it means they never went back in time. You can't change what hasn't already happened basically, it can be a mind f**k to understand.
56:25 being a warewolf or anything else in harry potter isnt an indication of being a bad person. The type of magic you used on other people is what determines if youre a bad persin
This movie came out the same year as Polar Express and Yu-Gi-Oh: The Pyramid Of Light, fond memories.
