Thank you so much for sticking up for Ron!!! You're the only reactor that has understood how he feels. Harry is always in the spotlight, regardless of wanting to be or not, he is popular and has a lot of expectations to succeed. Ron comes from a big family, all his siblings being talented and appreciated. However, he always feels left out, like he doesn't matter. Hermione being the smartest has something going for her too. Ron never feels like he's worth anything. He always feels like he has to compete just to get attention, even from his parents. His mom never rembering his favorite food or things he likes, and his dad always working at the Ministry. He's also 14, so puberty is making his hormones go crazy. He knows deep down Harry didn't do it, but he feels betrayed because this is just another moment for Harry to shine while he's invisible. I really relate to Ron so much in this movie, so I get sad when people throw him under the bus for just being a normal teenager with mood swings. Thank you for understanding ❤

Its kind of strange to show it in the movie in this way as well. Bcoz in the book ron didnt know about the dragons before hand. He came to know it on the day of competition itself when he saw harry facing them. This improvisation is weird.

"Priori Incantatem" is where the two magician's wands are related, i.e. the same wand core. This phenomenon will bring up the wand that loses must cast the previous spell. in this film Voldemort's wand loses to Harry's wand, so Voldemort's wand must cast the previous spell (mostly Avada Kedavr) that's why a spirit appears that was killed by Voldemort wand

IMPORTANT removals from the movie: Cedric used a Transfiguration spell to change a rock into a dog to distract the dragon. He was partially successful; the dragon took the bait, and Cedric went for the Golden egg. Halfway through, the dragon turned its attention back to Cedric, and burned his face. Cedric retrieved the egg, however, and passed the task.
Second was Fleur Delacour, who faced a Common Welsh Green. She enchanted the dragon to sleep, but while retrieving the golden egg, the dragon snored and let out a jet of flame that set her skirt alight. She extinguished the flames, and retrieved her egg. Viktor Krum was third, facing a Chinese Fireball. He used the Conjunctivitis Curse to blind the dragon and retrieve his egg. However, he was docked points when the dragon stumbled around and smashed half of the real eggs. Harry Potter drew the fiercest of them all, the Hungarian Horntail. On the advice of Crouch Jr. (disguised as Professor Moody), he used a Summoning Charm to bring his Firebolt broomstick to him, and manoeuvred past the dragon to retrieve his egg.
After the First Task, Harry and Viktor were tied for first place, with Cedric in second, and Fleur in third. The champions were told that, the Golden egg they retrieved contained a clue on how to pass the Second Task. Without it, they had little chance of succeeding.
I hope you watch the extended edition for the final films ahead.
(Especially the last one part one and two which has some stuff that puts some things into full circle.)

I love the 4th book for all the hilarious little sideplots they obviously couldn’t fit into the movies. A highlight is when Mr. Weasley, Ron, Fred, and George come to get Harry at the Dursley’s and try to go through their electric fireplace. Fucking iconic.
“Loud bangings and scrapings were coming from behind the Dursleys' boarded-up fireplace, which had a fake coal fire plugged in front of it.
'What is it?' gasped Aunt Petunia, who had backed into the wall and was staring, terrified, toward the fire. 'What is it, Vernon?'
But they were left in doubt barely a second longer. Voices could be heard from inside the blocked fireplace.
'Ouch! Fred, no - go back, go back, there's been some kind of mistake - tell George not to - OUCH! George, no, there's no room, go back quickly and tell Ron-'
'Maybe Harry can hear us, Dad - maybe he'll be able to let us out-'
There was a loud hammering of fists on the boards behind the electric fire.
'Harry? Harry, can you hear us?'
The Dursleys rounded on Harry like a pair of angry wolverines.
'What is this?' growled Uncle Vernon. 'What's going on?'
'They - they've tried to get here by Floo powder,' said Harry, fighting a mad desire to laugh. 'They can travel by fire - only you've blocked the fireplace - hang on -'
He approached the fireplace and called through the boards.
'Mr Weasley? Can you hear me?'
The hammering stopped. Somebody inside the chimney piece said, 'Shh!'
'Mr Weasley, it's Harry ... the fireplace has been blocked up. You won't be able to get through there.'
'Damn!' said Mr Weasley's voice. 'What on earth did they want to block up the fireplace for?'
'They've got an electric fire,' Harry explained.
'Really?' said Mr Weasley's voice excitedly. "Ecklectic, you say? With a plug? Gracious, I must see that.... Let's think ... ouch, Ron!'
Ron's voice now joined the others'.
'What are we doing here? Has something gone wrong?'
'Oh no, Ron,' came Fred's voice, very sarcastically. 'No, this is exactly where we wanted to end up.'” -Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, Chapter 4: Back to the Burrow.

Ron’s anger isnt as explained as it is in the book. Throughout the books you get a look into Ron’s mind and you can see that year after year there is a bit of jealousy towards Harry for being famous and rich whereas Ron is the youngest male sibling in a poor family where his older brothers are all exceptional in their own way. Its a slow build up of emotions even delved a bit into at the beginning of The Goblet of Fire book as well.
Then when Harry gets his name picked, it was too much and it all finally comes out. Not to mention Harry in the books is more of a sarcastic dick than he is in the films where they make him sorta a blank hero type. So you can imagine why the arguments and such would escalate more and more. There’s even the moment in the books where Harry is meeting with Sirius in the fire and when Ron goes to check up on him its HARRY who starts being a dick first which causes Ron to rebuttal. Harry then throws a pin at his head saying something like “maybe you’ll get a scar and be famous now”. Harry doesn’t help the situation in the books either and the movies don’t really adapt Harry’s sarcastic attitude that he has in every book.
PLUS it makes it worse that the book’s elaborate more on Rita Skeeter and how she would make entire articles all about him while putting in fake dialogue from Harry making it seem like he was trying to make everyone feel bad for him and all that
So the feud continued until the First Task where Ron finally saw that clearly Harry wouldn’t have wanted to do this and realized the press was lying about the shit he said.

It is also shown as a nuance in the first film/book. when Ron looks into Erised, he sees himself as Head Boy, as well as Quiddich Captain. Going above and beyond and excelling at all things his brothers excelled at.

You know, because Harry's entrance in the tournament was unplanned, they didn't have a fourth dragon, so they had to improvise and got the Common Welsh Green which, in comparison to the other dragons, is quite docile (despite still being very dangerous). That being said, Fleur had quite the advantage over the other three, as she faced the least dangerous dragon, while Harry faced the most dangerous.

@@resathe6760 No, it's not in the books. I think it was confirmed somewhere else. But it does make sense. After all, the Ministry planned the revival of the tournament with all the details to ensure its success and the safety of the champions. They had already picked up the three dragons that would be used before the Champions were chosen. When Harry was picked as a champion, they would need a fourth dragon. Since the Common Welsh Green is native to the GB (the only one of the four to be so) and because of its more docile nature, that breed was the easiest one to acquire and prepare for the task.

All the spoilers and trivia of things omitted from books aside, in case you guys are reading this, there is one thing that neither of you seemed to connect that was fully in the movie, though a little subtle and overshadowed by the revelation of Snape's past. The whole reason Barty Jr was sentenced to Azkaban in the first place, was that he captured and repeatedly used the forbidden Curse of Torture on Frank Longbottom and his wife (Neville's parents). That is why Neville knew about the curse in the class to begin with and that is why he was extremely disturbed by the demonstration. It's also quite ironic that the same person who tortured Neville's parents, was also the one to be teaching their son about it in class.

In the book Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, Dumbledore explained to Harry that Priori Incantatem is when two wands with matching wand core connect. If you recall from the very first movie, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone or Philosopher's Stone when Harry got his wand Mr. Olivander said that the phoenix feather in Harry's wand had a matching feather in another wand that came from the same exact phoenix. The person that has the other feather in his wand is Voldemort.
Harry found out in the book version of Goblet of Fire that the phoenix was Dumbledore's bird, Fawks.
Because Harry and Voldemort has matching wand cores it means the wands are equal in power and relation. The wands really are brothers. As Harry's wand began to slowly beat Voldemort's wand it caused Piori Incantatem to happen. That means the last few spells that Voldemort's wand made began to reveal itself. So not only did the last few murders that Voldemort's wand made expose itself it also showed in the book version Wormtail's new silvery hand first.

    1. I like how you've picked up how the title screens have gotten darker with each movie.
    2. It's a petty joke, but I'm glad someone recognized Robert Pattinson from something other than "Twilight" lol
    3. Beauxbatons and Durmstrang are both co-ed schools, and in the book both schools brought both male and female representatives. I guess the directors just wanted a sense of sublime femininity vs. brutal masculinity, the obvious polar opposites haha
    4. In the book the foreign students don't arrive until just before Halloween, and Malfoy gets the "ferret punishment" on the very first day of school.
    5. In the second task, the four hostages were never in any real danger. They were summoned to Dumbledore's office and explained to as to what was about to happen; they were put into an enchanted waterproof sleep and were assured they would be perfectly fine and would come around as soon as they resurfaced.
    6. I'm sure many will say it, but the maze in the movie is incrediblt tame compared with the book. There are many more enchantments, and magical creatures too.
    7. Many will also say this too, but there's an entire subplot left out of this movie which turns out to be crucially relevant to the main plot, involving house-elves.
    8. After Barty Crouch Jr. reveals everything that unfolded after he escaped Azkaban to Dumbledore, Minister Fudge summoned a dementor to the castle, which took it upon itself to perform the Dementor's Kiss on Crouch, leaving him permanently catatonic and unable to share the information with Fudge. And without Crouch's testimony, there is no evidence to convince Fudge that Voldemort is back; he believes Dumbledore to be completely crazy and the two part ways.
I highly suggest you read (or listen to) the books after you've finished with the movies, because you will learn many things that simply don't get explained in the films, and quite a few of them are very crucial to the main storyline.

Sorry to give you the bad news. It's not your fault you didn't know this but the producers and directors of this movie left out some important information from the book. One of them is the fact that Harry is STILL living with his aunt and uncle. Harry was only visiting the Weasley home because the Weasley family asked permission from the Dursleys to take him for a few days so that Harry can attend the Quidditch World Cup with them.
This is the movie where they start to leave massive key pieces of information that were in the books out of the movies. For example, Harry finds out that Dobby is now working at Hogwarts as a free elf and gets paid for it. Dobby is the one that gives Harry the Gillyweed and not Neville. Percy Weasley (one of Ron's older brothers that was a prefect at Hogwarts in the first three books and movies) has graduated and now works at the Ministry of Magic. At this point he was Barty Crouch Senior's personal assistant. There was another house elf in the story called Winky. She use to belong to the Crouch family until she was fired and freed. She went to Hogwarts to work there but was severely depressed about her new found freedom. Hermione did not react well to finding out that Hogwarts has a massive staff full of house elves and tries to no avail to free them all. She fails because none of them wants to be freed. Many of the Hogwarts house elves work in the kitchen located directly under the Great Hall and its them that have been cooking the meals for the school. The food is only magically summoned unto the tables in the Great Hall. But one of the biggest things that were left out from the books that many fans (including myself) that wished they could have included in the movie is the Quidditch World Cup match. In the book it was highly detailed and exciting.
That was just a Few of the Many things that were left out that I had mentioned. There are still far more interesting details like back stories reveals of main characters and how the last Tri Wizard Tournament maze task was different. Hopefully now that they are officially rebooting the series for HBO Max they will now add many of the details. Especially being that the book author is one of the executive producers.

Are you sure that a lot of these details you described are such major plot holes that was really missing in the movie?
I grew up with the movies and then reading the books. It felt more like an enhancement and I never really felt that there are such major plot holes in the first movies up until half-blood prince-ish/ootp where some context is missing to understand the drastic change in the movies.
These are, if I were to harshly describe them: Side-Quest Information additions. Addendum. Extra Fanservice content for more detailed in-depth storytelling. They didn't bring the A-Plot nor the B-Plot in this movie forward in any way. And since even those two plots were already cut down on an already long movie you'd understand. A-Plot being the Tri-Wizard Cup which is the main theme of THIS movie and B-Plot being the Resurrection of Voldemort/Rise of Death Eaters.

    • @LaurinGarcia
      @LaurinGarcia ปีที่แล้ว +3

@@DarthKiller456123 I know there was absolutely no way the directors, script writers and producers could have put everything that was in the books in any theatrical film they could have done. Especially when it comes to the Goblet of Fire book because it was just far too long. I never expected it to be a complete story retelling when I saw it in theaters back in the day. The movie would have lasted far far longer than any stage play and would have cost far too much to make.
But when people who have never read the books are left confused and asking more questions about things most of us who read the novels knew then it kind of does a little disservice to the story telling.
Most of what I mentioned I agree was not detrimental to understanding what was going on. That is why I mentioned them in the first place in order not to give too big of a spoiler for future Harry Potter movies. I even debated mentioning Hagrid's back story reveal because of what is to come in the next film. But almost all reaction video TH-camrs almost always think that Harry had left the Dursleys and moved into the Weasley home by the time they watch this film. I only make a big deal about this tid bit because it is a big deal in all the books. All readers or movie watchers asks why. Turns out it was a good question with a good answer. I am fighting with myself not to give any spoilers. LOL!🙊😆
I guess I can't blame the makers of this film for leaving certain key points. They didn't know the full story either by the time they created Goblet of Fire. The books series were still being written and they only had the author's words that she was willing to divulge with them in secret and she wasn't divulging much. So at times they had no idea what details was going to matter later on in the series. Not even Professor Trawling could have helped them with that. LOL!

Just a random fun fact - the 'spider' that 'Moody' used for the demonstration of the curses is an actual, living creature - Tailless Whip Scorpion. The second fun fact about it - it is *absolutely* harmless to humans. Seriously. Its biggest claim to fame is being scary as shit, but not presenting any danger whatsoever, similar to a camel spider.

Tom Riddle was born from a muggle father under a love potion of Amortentia but when he sobered up after months & months or years he abandoned his mother in a cruel way so this is where he gets his hatter for muggles. I’ll also tell you that this birth made him super attractive to everyone in a very supernatural way which is nobody at school could refuse him and he could weasel his way through everything to get what he wants. Everyone fell for him. Especially the teachers but also the great historian Bathilda Bagshot. His aunty or great aunt. He wasn’t easy to resist.
((I don’t know if I said this yet. I thought so at the goblet of fire but I just wanted to explain a few things))
He quite literally openly despised muggles for what his muggle father did to her beyond breaking her heart like that potion sure but Rowling went into either in the books or the rest of the story was put on the original pottermore website etc
When you see the x men movies the best character ever named Magneto(Eric) you'll see what I mean when I say he's like Salazar and honestly was loved by many. Hundreds.
Tom Riddle was an anomaly to say the least with the way in which he was born etc. it’s been a topic of discussion and entertaining deep dive videos for years now.❤️❤️❤️ there are so many great Harry Potter “lore” videos that are seriously entertaining that you’d love to do reaction videos to! Especially by people like the Carlin Brothers and a few others I will name later when I get the names again and edit them into this comment when I next get the chance! The brothers I mentioned are like the real life Weasley twins. As they are actual twins too!

It was a no win situation. Harry stopped Wormtail being killed so that Sirius could have proof of his innocence. It wasn't going to be enough to present the Ministry with the fresh dead body of Peter Pettigrew. They were going to have to have the forced confession of Wormtail to be presented to the authorities. Plus even if Wormtail hadn't been the one to bring Voldemort back it would have been Barty Crouch Junior. Trawlany's proficiency would have still fit with him. He too was a servant that returned to the Dark Lord.

Barty Crouch, Jr. disguised as Moody used the Confundus Charm on the Goblet to make it forget that only 3 schools were competing. He then put Harry's name in as the sole competitor for a 4th school.
No the dragon getting loose and chasing Harry all over the school isn't meant to happen. It didn't happen in the book. It's just gratuitous movie action.
Also in the book Ron, white as a sheet, was waiting when Harry returned to the tent with his egg. He told Harry he'd have to be mad to put his own name in the Goblet there.
Hogwarts had security. They just really didn't show it in the movies. It just wasn't meant to keep people out that they were expecting or an animagus that no one knew existed. No security is infallible.

So, Krum in the maze was under the Imperious curse (one of the unforgivable curses). Professor Moody/Barty Crouch Jr cast it on him. The Imperious curse allows the caster to control the actions of the victim. BC jr made Krum attack Fleur, so that he and Fleur couldn’t proceed to the end of the maze, to give Harry a better chance of touching the cup and thus reaching the graveyard

the movie never gonna live up to what the book did with the unforgivable curses class. it was totally disturbing.. showing crucio to Longbottom while his parents went insane by the pain caused that curce also.. harry was so upset about killing curse. he was thinking their parent might died the same way the spider died unmarked but dead...also hermione did answer killing curse...and also about priori incatation , it happens coz both harry and voldy share same want core. its like a twin.. they cant fight each other. harry's wand overpowered voldemorts and reversed its spell which is killing curse. so some shadow of death of who ever the wand killed recently came back for a moment..

With this world being filled with all kinds of magic, and all kinds of possibilities things can go bad, I imagine its kind of tough to have a counter measure for everything. Managing the people involved or potentially involved is easier, so sometimes its better to let things just play out like they did, see where its going and prevent the end goal. But that failed too so we can have the movies. xD

I still can't understand why they even had to misrepresent the Imperius curse; the spider should not "be moved" by the curse; it is a mind control course under which she should do these actions on her own; if people under the course would move around unnaturally, it would not be so dificult to indentify who has been cursed

About the ending of the movie and what to understand before watching the next one:
    1) Barty Crouch Jr. did not return to Azkaban. Minister for Magic Cornelius Fudge, upon learning that a criminal from Azkaban was wanted at Hogwarts, took a Dementor with him for transfer. But the Dementor threw himself on B. Crouch Jr and kissed him. He stole her soul. A fate worse than death.
    2) Cornelius Fudge didn't want the Hogwarts students to know the truth about Cedric Diggory's death as he refused to believe that Lord Voldemort had returned. This will have important consequences on the following film.
    3) Percy Weasley, Ron's older brother who was prefect in the 1st movie, was and is loyal to the Ministry of Magic. He is ambitious, to the detriment of his family.
    4) Igor Karkaroff, having felt the Dark Mark on his arm burning him, will leave Dumstrang's school to flee, as he is a traitor in Voldemort's eyes. He gave the names of the Death Eaters. Voldemort will find him and you can guess why we will never hear from him again.
    5) In the book, Sirius was an important support to Harry (especially when Ron was jealous) and was contacted by Dumbledore to tell Harry what happened in the cemetery, in his office. He was revolted by what Quedver did to him.

This is the point where, even though the movie is pretty enjoyable as a movie, the book readers start getting more bothered by the adaptation lol.
... I mean, I think they did a relatively good job considering they had to cut things down so much and make it work... Although they maybe could have cut the dragon part down and focused on other things... But you do want that kind of big action sequence for a movie, even if it wasn't that big in the book... But yeah, a lot of the Quidditch World Cup stuff was cut, as was the house elf (Dobby returns) and reporter subplots... There's something with the Twins and another character that was cut...The Moody thing is arguably more subtle and better paced out in the book too, I think... Even knowing the result, I'd highly recommend trying out the book (the audio books are pretty good if you're not a big reader).

On a side note, one of the saddest things ever is the fate of Neville's parents. They were tortured for so long with the Cruciatus curse because Barty Crouch Jr and Bellatrix Lestrange wanted to learn information but they didn't say a word. They chose to suffer excruciating pain instead of betraying their friends (unlike a certain rat😠). And they ended up losing their minds due to that pain and torture. They are alive but they are just empty shells, living at the hospital because they can't even get up from the bed.😞 That's why Neville was so shaken when "Moody" used the curse in front of him. That's how he knew of the curse in the first place because his parents are victims of it. And it makes it even more sickening knowing that Barty purposely used the curse in front of Neville because he knew he was the son of the people he tortured. It's disgusting. 😖I wish they revealed some more info about Neville's parents, shown some more scenes of them and Neville. They are war heroes and deserve to be honored. Poor Neville 🥺 Seriously, every single person from that era (Marauders/1st wizarding war) has such a tragic fate that it's just so painful to talk about it. They all deserved better 😭

Voldemort is not the most powerful. Dumbledore is. Remember he is the only wizard Voldemort is scared of. Voldemort is second and the only reason it seems like he has an advantage is because he is willing to do certain dark magic that any decent wizard would dare perform. However he isn’t the best because he is very shortsighted and not as clever as he thinks he is.
