Third century crisis
I’m so confused how this Chanel isn’t already blown up, history with great humour and animation. Easily should be among the most popular history Chanels on TH-cam
You must really like perfume.
Well, you've done your part by watching and commenting. Hopefully the algorithm takes notice. Thanks for the kind words.
@@LuinTathren ?
@@connerdalton8887 you spelt channel wrong, and Chanel is a perfume. Still can’t believe this channel hasn’t blown up!
Agreed, this is most likely my favorite place to learn some fun historyv
Caesar didn't die after his "assasination" by Brutus, Cassius et al. He actually survived, then fled in a boat across the ocean to what we know as the New World where he opened a casino and a successful tomato-and-cheese-on-panem franchise.
I actually already knew this. I saw it on the History channel 😊
Wait I thought it was Augustus who went to the new world and open Cesar’s Palace
I visit his Atlantic City casino often. Beautiful place that has truely stood the test of time. Wouldve have been fascinating to see what AC would have looked like in its founding years, when Caesar established Atlantium
Bread and circus, baby. Bread and circus
You are incorrect. The tomato cheese on panem was an invention by his illegitimate son, also known as “Little Caesar”
Important Note - In the Roman Republic, a dictator was more of a "Break Glass In Case of Emergency" position and didn't have the negative connotation it has today. Also, the average term for a Roman dictator was 6 months. Famously, Cincinnatus returned his power after 13 days, being the model dictator.
I fully intended on getting into what a Roman dictator was... and then the video was already 20 minutes. Next time.
@@DrawnofHistory is that the next video then, or …?
To make it even weirder, Roman Emperor tends to be more fluid…as in “some bozo with an army can become one” (see Third Century Crisis and even Byzantine had peasants like Basil and Romanos becoming one).
@@powerist209Bozos who raised themselves from the mud and pig crap of peasantry to the most powerful people in the world.
Even Ancient China with their strict rules of hierarchy and ascension with the mandate of heaven had peasant emperors. Like their greatest emperor ever Liu Bang.
Talk all you want about hereditary right to rule; true power has always sat with the man with the biggest army.
@@josephmatthews7698 Tell that to Liu Bang
History teacher here. I don't know how this channel isn't on the same level of viewership as oversimplified. You guys make it fun and easy to understand. It's perfect for high school history students. Keep doing what you're doing.
I second this, a long with the many other comments. How is this channel not bigger? It's so well done. Keep it up DH, you'll get there
I can just hear the class clowns laughing at the innapropriate jokes...
That eulogy was one of the most beautiful things I’ve ever heard.
8:56 I cannot express to you how much I love this part. I was completely taken off guard by what Caesar sang. It was amazing, i was dying of laughter, I loved it, actual gold. I’m glad I found this channel!
Who knew smash mouth plagiarized Julius Caesar for shrek
Cesar was a man truly ahead of his time they stabbed him because of his amazing poetry and singing
Truly a touching eulogy
Was off guard and😂😂😂😂
Father: "We make do with what we have, and what we have matters most."
Gaius: "And what's that?"
Father: "Love."
Gaius: "I knew it! We're as poor as dogs!"
Gather 😂😂😂
This...attitude that the romans seemed to have to a man just fascinates me. And entire culture of people who were more than willing to piss on every agreement they made, take turns betraying, humiliating and smacking each other and then having the nuts to be surprised when everyone turns on them at the drop of a hat.
Roman republic = CW teen drama
@@DrawnofHistory crap, that is fitting. Though I’m much more willing to watch Roman politics.
It's called politics. Nothing else then Power strategy games.
Never thought Caesar would recite Apple Bottom Jeans in his eulogy to his aunt Julia.
Julia got a brief shout out in a Marius parade. Now Cornelia...
I love that you drew the legions with Lorica Hamata and Coolus helmets rather than the stereotypical Lorica Segmenta and Gaillia helmet, which weren’t in use yet; its more accurate and it looks much nicer imo
Thanks. I try as best as I can to be accurate between the jokes.
@@DrawnofHistory Well, you do a damn good job! Keep it up!
Not only did Caesar give us Half-Life 3, he gave us the sequel to Fallout New Vegas.
The only thing he didn't give us was a Part 2... :(
I'm a woman and I also have no idea what actually happens at women's parties. Alas, your female audience consists of history nerds who weren't invited to parties other than birthday parties because we tend to talk about history too much. My only guess about those parties is that they DON'T want to discuss wars, dictators, and whether or not there was a breeding population of Giraffes for food on the Ancient Roman peninsula.
bish you got invited to birthday parties?
8:46 - _"And then Caesar's beloved Cornelia died. Caesar mounted the Rostra of the Forum and gave a simple, yet profound eulogy."_
🎵Apple bottom jeans. Boots with the fur🎵
This absolutely killed me.
Thanks!
The reason that soldiers tended to be more loyal to their generals wasn't because they were allowed to join while poor. It was because the Senate refused to pay beyond the bare minimum, so the onus on making sure the soldiers got more than a glorified laborers wage was on the general.
This is one of the best overviews on Caesar I've seen. Sulla etc are far too often overlooked, and everyone keeps saying the entire Roman crisis didn't begin until the first triumvirate!
Roman was coughing up blood for quite sometime before Caesar appeared on the scene.
Surely you have seen Historia Civilis' episodes on Cæsar and the late Roman republic? Not a whole lot of jokes and flash, but a shitload of well researched detailed history!
@@DrawnofHistoryTheir humors needed to be balanced
I can't wait for part two. I know these stories well but never tire of hearing them again.
Hope I'm doing them justice
This aged well 😂
Omg i didn’t know that a kid Julius Caesar could be so cute.
I'm telling you this channel is criminally underrated. The humour, animation and historical content combine to make this one of the greatest channels there is
Thanks for the high praise
@@DrawnofHistory you're welcome
Come on man! The best i've ever seen!!!!!! You MUST, you MUST make the second part for the love of all that's good please!!! I beg you! Keep up the great work man
Remember boys, when Drawn of HIstory gets to 100k subs he will make Caesar Part 2
How do you guys not have 1 million subs? Y'all have legit become one of my favourite channels on here 😭
You did your job by watching, subscribing, and commenting. I appreciate it.
I want to note that bibilus as consul also had the power to cancel senate meetings if he felt that there were "bad omens". He used this authority every time the senate was due to meet, however everyone ignored it because Julius Caesar, who was Rome's chief priest, said it would be ok. Bibilus wasnt really seen in office until he was due to give his final farewell speech, given when one's term as counsul had ended, and when he was about to speak his speech was vetoed by a tribune of the plebs so he was stripped of basically all dignity at that point.
That’s the best part ever. Lmao 🤣. Soon as he started speaking someone screaming “VETO” lmao 🤣
And that Tribune of the Plebs just so happened to be Clodius.
That eulogy had me crying I've been subbed since the plymouth video this is your best work by far
It was truly one of the best speeches of the ancient world
Well, I think I found my next channel to binge. Great work, man!
Glad to have ya
For all of Ceaser's scheming and brilliance, for some reason, he held an incredibly naive belief in The Power of Friendship. He dropped the ball when he tried to turn his life into a Shonen Anime.
It reminds me of a Saying from war hammer forty k. " The emperor protects our souls, but having a loaded gun does help put one's mind at ease"
If only caesar had the foresight to go armed. Maybe he would have survived. Then again they probably Paid off the pretorians to allow them to get away with it. Rome was so corrupt.
I like that you showed that Caesar’s captors had their throats slit before he crucified them. Good attention to detail.
Ty I'm not alone on this lol
I read Suetonius just before so I was half-expecting it, nice to see that these details made it in for people in the know, without the need to elaborate on it.
11:56 14:39
Caesar absolutely destroying Cato is the funniest thing here😂
For the record, the bit about Caesar and the king of Bythinia is almost certainly anti-Caesarian political propaganda. They depicted him as the submissive partner both because that's the part that was frowned upon in Rome, and also to show put across the idea that he would be submissive to foreign kings.
That said, the apple bottom jeans eulogy bit is spot on and tends to be left out in most accounts. Thanks for that attention to detail!
Parental discretion is advised. 😄
No. Knocked it out of the park with the comedy. All kids should be taught history this way, so that they remember the past, and remember to wash their balls.
It's an important message especially with the cloths being so breezy.
@@WaywardVet I agree with you. Also, I remembered to wash my balls.
When I heard that as a kid, I knew this was gonna be good.
NRO I WATCHED THIS IN SCHOOL.
I HOPE THIS CHANNEL BLOWS UP I LOVE HISTORY AND THIS WILL BE SO ENTERTAINING AND EDUCATIONAL
BWAHAHAHA love the Roman joke in Latin on the wall during the "Gold Plated Lion" scene. BRAVO! (and the response is funny, too)
I just watched all the videos on this channel over the last few days and love it. I wonder when we are getting part to 2 to this one though?
Great video! Child voice actor was fantastic! (Everyone was)
I'll let my mini me know
I love this! This is my 2nd fav historical Chanel after oversimplified
LMFAO 💀 not him singing t-pain at the lady’s funeral ‼️
Interesting the different way you covered Cicero’s moment in the sun, but love how much you made Cato hate Ceasar’s guts
Got some good Clodius-Cicero stuff coming up
@@DrawnofHistory Lets gooo! I need more animations covering Rome
Thank you! Have been eagerly waiting, the humor you bring into these are on a different level 😂
Glad the jokes and the info hit well
@@DrawnofHistory thank you 🙏
It’s been 2 years and still no part 2
This was history like I've never heard before. Looking forward to the other videos on your channel...!
I'm glad you like my take on it.
Im so glad I found this channel from VTH, I can’t stop watching your videos, these are great
Ok. It’s official. This is my new favorite TH-cam channel!
Mine too!
OH MIGHTY HISTORY GOD OF YE OLDE DRAWING CHANNEL will this ever get a part 2?
Managed to just stumble on your channel. Absolutely brilliant work mate keep it up!
Don’t you mean how Julius Caesar became *A CONSUL OF ROME?!*
That implies that Bibulus pulled his weight. Consulship of Julius and Caesar, baby!
HE WAS A CONSUL OF ROME!!!
@@akramgimmini8165 I can't wait to get to that part of the story in an upcoming installment.
@@DrawnofHistory Shame on the house of ptolemy for such barbarity, shame.
This channel is criminally underrated
Awww, Caesar was nice and kind to his pirate buddies. He had their throats slit when he crucified them, so instead of a long, agonizing and degrading death, it's just a degrading death.
Please!!! Do another episode, this blew my mind
This channel is on par with oversimplified. keep going!
Wheres part 2? I was so invested 😢
I just found this channel I love it I think it's great with the voices and the characters it works
Caesar recitind Low in tragic dramatic way! Smooth! Really smooth! 😁😁
Still waiting for the next episode
Drawnofhistory! Where is the sequel??!?
"We're practicing our, uh uh, downhill skiing'. LOL!!!!
The thing that made the rumor "scandalous" wasn't that it was gay, it's that Caesar was said to be... the downhill partner. Rome was all about power.
@@DrawnofHistory, also the "uphill partner" in question was a foreign king, and we all know how Romans feel about kings.
Im in love with little Caesar - the pizza chain should literally pay you to make content for their pizza with little Caesar, hes amazing!
Well I guess you're back and I can't wait to watch this
Well, what did you think?
@@DrawnofHistory absolutely fantastic. Also it would be really nice to have a discord community around this channel
This is a bit nitpicky, but Caesar's co-consul was called Bibulus, not Biblius.
Great video. Look forward to seeing this channel expand!
Me too!
Is there going to be a Part 2
0:44 had me actually laughing.
Keep up the great work my dude.
This is it lads. Watch this channel fuckingn explode in the next year
Oh my lord is that your kid doing the voice acting, I love that so much ❤
Pt 2 when? Also how are you at just 20k subs? The quality and humor should have netted you at least a couple hundred k by now
Can’t wait for Part Deaux!
Firstly, a lot of those roman names on the "kill list" seemed oddly familiar. Hmmm-
Secondly; My dude, you deserve at least one million subs more. At least! Your quality is insane and I am just waiting for the algorithm to pick you up. I feel like it was sheer luck I found you when I did!
Been a fan since I found your first video roughly a month after it was uploaded. Keep up the fantastic work!
Maybe one or two of them. The others just came from a random Roman name generator because somehow that's a thing. Thanks for watching.
“I don’t wanna bone my mother, I want to bone the world!”
*STARTS HUMPING THE GROUND…TO COMPLETION*
Well, we was known to be quiet insatiable
Has part two been made? Please post link here
0:26 Disapointed to see no silly names on the list of Proscriptiones
Subscribed!!!
So that’s when Half Life 3 will come out, 2070 years ago… makes sense in a weird way.
That side story about King Nicomedes reminded me about my favorite nickname for Caesar. "Every Woman's Man and Every Man's Woman"
"the odor of a cats dung-crusted butt" LMFAO. Masterfully done sir
Just found the Chanel but love the Rome content!
🎶 Shawty got low low low low low 🎶 would be great to play while lowering the coffin
I was expecting a manscaped ad with the stinky balls joke
how have i just found this channel when i watch other history videos?! 👏🏻
Loooooove your stuff keep it up you'll have a huge following eventually. It's kinda criminal you don't yet.
I think the algorithm likes it when you watch 3 videos from the channel so...
15:14 got me lmao and subscribed 😅
Yeah was that Mr. Beat?
I love this channel.
Ha. I wasn't sure if you saw this one
PART 2 WYA
This was absolutely 💯 brilliant!!!
The eulogy was hilarious
Absolute banger
Apple bottom jeanssss, boots with the furrrrrrrrr!!! 😂😂😂😂
This channel is really underrated, hopefully one day the algorithm Gods will be happy and help your channel, I guess?
I heard they like it when you watch multiple videos from a channel so...
just came across your channel. excellent content, 5/5 ❤
This video was a treat!
Thanks
13:15 I know this vid is from a year ago but I hope your analytics has gotten better because you deserve it! I’ll do my part 😭👐🏻
Regarding the whole Caesar-Nicomedes thing, it should be noted that the rumor was one Caesar always denied and was used against him solely by political enemies. So no way to prove either way, but it could have been BS.
Where's part 2? It'll be a shame if you abandoned it.
16:30 bro used Daniel Bryan’s yes chant in a historically significant setting
Has anyone ever told you you sound like Jim Cummings with some voices you do?
Damn part 2 still not out
Love the Mr beat guest role 👏👏👏
Another great and pretty accurate video
Glad it seems like I'm hitting a good balance between scholarship and comedy.
Yep
@DrawnofHistory LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The guest voices are neat. I instantly recognized Mr. Beat. :)
