A lot of people (including myself) would love to get Procreate on Android but that's probably not going to happen. HiPaint is stepping in and delivering... even if it means just coping the popular iPad drawing and painting app.

I'm not even mad that it's a Procreate knock off, we have been asking for YEARS for a Android version of Procreate, even in their FAQ it's a common question, on which they say, so far no plans but we'l see.. which basically is another way of saying ''nah, but to stop your questions we're going to give you vague hope''. So Kudos to HiPaint for at least supporting Android Users

Ok so Procreate know there's a market out there and they just ignore it?

But you have to consider that the app would need to be optimize for Android and for companies that aren't too big that can be difficult and every time that they make an update they would have to verify that it works correctly in two operating systems instead of one. For now I think that it is good that another company is making an app for Android rather than Savage Interactive so they don't have to split their efforts.

    • @kizanko
      @kizanko ปีที่แล้ว +268

@@frijolitoandcuterice It's not that, it's how they are leaving a large user base stranded, fragmentation would only be a problem if drawing apps would work bad, but they all work great on Android, Clip Studio Paint being on of the best I find so far which I use on my S6 Lite, my brother has a Ipad Pro and when I draw I get exactly the same results on both platforms. Procreate is already complete enough to put focus on other platforms now. But the fact that they don't just shows how the Apple glorification and Android vilification is still being uphold by some companies. i really hope HiPaint hits off so I don't have to rely on companies who are deaf to people who appreciate their work but then don't even try to accommodate them.

@@kizanko I have a theory (and it is just that and I have no inside information)
I have been waiting for so long for it to come to either windows or android, hell I'll even take it on mac at this point. But this app makes Apple so much money in Pro sales and they must know this. I wouldn't be surprised if there is a backdoor contract going on between them where apple slides them a set amount of money for them to not release on anything but iPads.
The amount of people I know who have purchased an iPad and pencils just for this app. Me included who just bought an iPad pro and apple pencil on Friday after holding off for years.

honestly pretty impressed with the app, especially with the brushes and the reference tool, which i use a lot. its my second favourite implementation of references behind ibis paint x, which is still my go to app. i wish this new hi paint app includes text input (for comic writing and meme making), use of the button on the s pen to erase or toggle eraser (if they can do the thing where u hold it to erase like native samsung apps, that would be amazing), better timelapse tool (seems like it glitched in the video but they'll probably fix that), comic panel dividers (like ibis paint x and medibang paint), and lot more customization settings in general. looks pretty minimal/lacking for now, but im sure theyll add more. very excited to see how this develops

Honestly I still prefer Infinite Painter for Android. I'm really used to it even though I miss the paint drop ink option (they only have bucket).
But I really like the fingers shortcuts to increase or decrease brush sizes on Infinite Painter.

If you have a case/cover that is magnetic, and you fold the cover behind the tablet, it can mess up your brush strokes. I thought my S7+ was broken, but then I tried drawing without the case and it didn't have the bump in the line anymore.

I'm really happy with Ibis Paint (especially because I bought the, Non X, version). But I have been wanting to use Procreate
So HiPaint would be the better option for me... Since I basically abandoned Apple... 5 years ago? I think?
Edit: So I tried using HiPaint on my tablet, and... I think I'm gonna stick with Ibis Paint. Mainly 'Cause
    - More options for canvas size. I know you can just manually change the size in both. But I like that Ibis has more presets (I personally use a4 and/or a5. Depending on if I'm doing a regular drawing, or a reference sheet)
    - Reference window, can also reference canvas
    - plus and minus buttons for things like changing the brush size
    - Have to tap out of a menu, before being able to draw (this one is really just a personal preference thing)
    - Doesn't lag, when pinching and zooming (I honestly don't know if it's 'Cause my tablet is from the A line, instead of the S line. Or it's just how the app is. But it was really annoying. And, actually the reason why I went back to Ibis)

You have the right to make whatever business decisions you want, I won't argue with that...but I applaud the developers for this HiPaint for seeing the huge and OBVIOUS opportunity to capitalize on the shortsightedness of another company. I don't dislike Procreate at all OR their amazing development team. I just think they made a bit of a blunder when making the decision (and they certainly did make a conscious decision) to basically leave a huge potential customer base (and revenue stream) on the table. In another way, the Procreate team should be flattered that their product was good enough to be replicated. This happens all of the time. Windows/Android users rejoice!
