    There are several Android tablets out there right now designed for artists (and some that aren't but do it well anyway). Today I'm taking a look at the Samsung Galaxy tab s9 FE the XP-Pen Magic drawing pad and the Huion Kamvas Slate.

      Honestly, procreate is carrying the ipad hard. Even CSP runs better on ipad from what I heard. If procreate were on android I'd get a galaxy ultra, no questions asked.

      @@Fr0stbite1801 There _is_ HiPaint, mind, but, they've gotten kinda scummy with their ad updates as of late.
      There really does need to be something good in the Android art space as far as software's concerned. Drawpile's Android version is okay, in some ways the best Android art app, but it's still not touch-centric enough, same with Krita. There's Infinite Painter and Designer, which are good. There really needs to be a good animation and/or modeling app. Flipaclip went subscription route and I'm not sure if there's anything comparable.

      @@Fr0stbite1801 1000% agree. I only purchased my iPad for procreate and now I use Procreate Dreams as well. I’m stuck
      With the iPad lol. I’m pretty sure Apple is paying procreate to keep it exclusive to the Apple App Store and that’s probably how they aren’t charging subscriptions too. But if procreate moved to android we would for sure see a boom in high quality android tablets fly off shelves

    Hey, Brad! Your reviews are the reason why I've made great decisions when it comes to drawing hardware. I've been following you since you uploaded the Kamvas 13 2020 review, that was my first ever screen tablet. Then switched to an iPad 9th gen, iPad air 4, and right now, I've reached peak drawing experience. I traded my iPad air 4 for a Galaxy Tab S8+. Again, your reviews made me switch, all your critiques are spot on, and I love that! Thanks for the great content, I can't wait to see with what you come up in the future!!
    Ps: pairing the Tab S8+ with the Wacom One Pen is the best drawinr experience I've ever had.

    Big fan of Samsung tablets, myself. I have been using a Tab S9 Ultra for about 3 months now. I, personally, haven't seen any wearing down of my S-Pen with around 4-6 hours of daily use. I will say that the biggest downside I have found to using Samsung tablets is they don't directly sell replacement nibs so you have to find them from a third party reseller and a lot of them aren't good. If you get the Creator Edition pen, it comes with extra nibs but then it has a hard tip and doesn't feel as good to draw with without a matte protector.
    Edit: 2 months later, the tip has, in fact, worn out. I was unable to find a replacement that had the rubber tip. Ended up buying a titanium tip and paperlike protector.

    • @heynim342
      @heynim342 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +18

      Pro tip: you can buy a replacement pen for the Wacom One 13" series display tablets, they work really great on Galaxy Tabs and each box comes with 5 extra nibs. Me & a few pals actually prefer this to the Samsung options since it's nicer to hold and cheaper than the Creator pen.

    I've been looking for an android tablet that doesn't have that 16:9 screen ratio (Want a tablet that I can lug around for drawing, but primarily to read books and comics on). It's the one thing I think Apple got right with the iPad. Having a less "screen" like ratio makes it feel better whether you're holding it landscape or portrait style, both from a viewing perspective as well as an ergonomic perspective. So, the XP Pen one is very appealing to me, but the pen being off, even by a little, would probably drive me insane. I have a samsung phone and a 360 galaxy book, so I know that the pen is REALLY good.

    I tried the Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 FE at an electronics store and sometimes I could not draw lines well in clip studio. and The tablet misidentified my hand as a pen and drew extra lines.. Is this because I am not familiar with tablets?
    Are there any Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 FE users having the same problem?

    But the good thing is this "hybrid" it's because you can use as a second display (cable) so it's a good feature.

    While it's nice to have other options, this is going to be a tough fight for XP and Huion. It would be different if Samsung just had one or two devices, but they've got all of the bases covered with low, mid, and high-end devices.

    I bought the XP pen because it was on sale for $655 AUD $427 USD. I would have gone Samsung but in Australia it’s at least 1k at most reputable places. Thanks for the round up. I wanted to know does the XP pen for their main drawing screens have the tilt function work on the Magic Pen? Or is it the screen that doesn’t have the tilt ability? Not a deal breaker as I don’t generally tilt.

    • @a2fotografia
      @a2fotografia 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      From the reviews I've been watching I think this is the only device where tilt is not working, I'm not sure if the blame lies on the screen or on the pen. All other XP-Pen devices have tilt working. I've heard a rumour that XP-Pen will work on a firmware or something to try and fix this problem.

    I feel like for $499 The XP-Pen makes the the S Tab9FE seem like a no-brainer. It's $449 and has a better processor meaning you can branch out. The alignment is very good from what I remember so you don't have that offset. A screen protector is easy enough to apply. Adding that and replacing the nibs with plastic nibs is still cheaper than a new XP pen. Add on top of it that you are guaranteed 4 years of OS and 5 years of Security updates and it seems like a no-brainer. If XP pen adds a calibration app or settings panel I can see it going either way but still tilted in Samsung's favor because of the OS update support. But right now you can fix the Samsung's drawing feel. You can't fix the XP-Pen.

    having studied and still doing some non professional artwork (cause i became a teacher and not an artist or designer) - i find the samsung tab s8/9 ultra "near" perfect for drawing .. but i would not seriously draw on them. Personally, i have the Wacom Cintiq, which is in a different league to either any android or apple tablet. Those are just toys in the end. However, since Samsung does use the wacom drawing pen, there is more familiarity for me .. but the real professional wacom drawing pen is much better than the little stick you get from Samsung (not to mention the even tinier stick in the phone)

    Huion did copy the 16k levels of pressure with their new 19 and 27 inch pro displays and finally added an eraser tip to the pen, so they will probably add it to their next android tablet.

    • @litjellyfish
      @litjellyfish 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Not sure with the erasor. Do other tablets pens have erasors with their thin body form factor? I honestly have not used the erasor for 15 years on desktop but maybe it’s handy when you are without keyboard. Still if the pen have two buttons it’s usually quicker to use one pen to switch to eraser than flipping the pen itself

    • @netvisionz
      @netvisionz 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@litjellyfish There are no 19 or 27 inch tablets on the market. Pen Displays are for desktop. Also how can it be quicker to fiddle with a button instead of just turning the pen over and erase something which is natural to humans since we were taught to use erasers on pencils in elementary school?

    • @litjellyfish
      @litjellyfish 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@netvisionz sorry I don’t get what you mean with the different sizes. I just asked if any other tablets (regardless of size) had an erasor. Apple Pencil who is the most popular drawing tablet still do not have it. Wacom’s ditched their erasor in their lower product line.
      How it can be quicker? Well because it is faster pure well physically. It’s less motion less movement = it takes less time to click a button than flip a pen , also it’s not fiddly. as you say flipping the pen to erase it’s a learned thing = it’s not natural in any way. Functions just as we learn to use a mouse and tap a screen. Also as the erasor is a lot thicker it covers often the point to erase making it less precise.
      Don’t you find it hard to be precise when erasing fine lines with to end of say a Wacom pro pen compared to just switch to the erase tool and use the normal fine tipped tip for more control erasing ?

    • @netvisionz
      @netvisionz 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@litjellyfishI think you misunderstood. XP-Pen introduced 16 levels of pressure with their X3 Pen technology a few years ago. Their recent android tablet uses the same pen technology from their pen displays which have eraser tips. Their tablet is one featured in the video. Huion has just introduced Pentech 4.0 with eraser tip to their Kamvas Pro 19 and 27 pen displays. My comment was that based on that they will more than likely introduce support for their new pen technology to their next Android tablet. I hope this clears things up.

    • @litjellyfish
      @litjellyfish 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@netvisionz ah thank you. And yes I totally misunderstood you 😅 I tough you mean that they would be offering pens with eraser tip for future possible tablet line. Which for I found odd as from a drawing pov I feel it adds litttle value.
      For more pure note taking (remarkable 2 has an erasor) it makes more sense for me as the target group are not really artists. And for them as you say are used to just flip the pen. But I we compare with artists used to pen-displays (with often shortcut keys etc) they are more used to just quickly toggle to eras or function instead of flipping the pen.
      Thanks for clarifying 💚
