I think what people don't realize is just how good even these budget sets can look, especially for the average viewer who just wants an upgrade in to the 4K world. Plug em in and enjoy. What will separate these from the big guys are things that only matter to people who are in the videophile/enthusiast category....upscaling capability, peak brightness, black levels, etc. But for a set to plop on a stand and enjoy the latest tech for a few hundred bucks?....winner!

marketweis I totally agree and it’s worth adding that TCL is adding quite a few improvements to their 2018 lineup, especially the 6 Series, that make them a viable choice for even the most demanding customers.

marketweis, I suppose if you are actually able to keep one working. I bought a new 55" TCL TV and within 6 months it had no picture. The replacement TV had no picture within 9 months of replacing. Garbage product accompanied by lousy customer service makes this a company to stay away from. TCL refuses to take responsibility for their own products and now I'm stuck with a 55" piece of shit. that's two defective televisions within a 14 month period and TCL basically just told me that it's my problem.

I just ordered the 421 model from ebay for $190. I cannot wait. I remember when 4k tvs were $2000.

@@brianstiles8166 OMG BRO IT HAPPENED TO ME. TV lasted me a bit over two years and now it has no picture. I love the simplicity of the Roku system but the tcl is a piece of 💩. I upgraded to an oled tv

Do you get the soap opera effect in movies with this tv? if so can you turn it off? I hate that crap.

If your BB still has them in stock the 65" model is now $399.99.

It’s been a long time since you reviewed this product, so how do you think is holding up in 2019? Have you had any problems ?

I got a new Vizio recently that is now my primary TV but the TCL is still doing great and serves as an excellent second tv.

Sebastian Carvajal, I personally bought a new 55" TCL TV. Within 6 months it had no picture. The replacement TV had no picture within 9 months of replacing. Garbage product accompanied by lousy customer service makes this a company to stay away from. TCL refuses to take responsibility for their own products and now I'm stuck with a piece of garbage that doesn't work. I would not recommend wasting your money. That's two defective televisions within 14 months. TCL basically told me that it's my problem.

You get what you pay for. I purchased a new 55" TCL television. 6 months later it had no picture. The replacement TV had no picture within 9 months of replacing. TCL refuses to take responsibility for their own products and now I'm stuck with a piece of garbage that doesn't work. Personally, would never recommend to anyone else to buy a TCL product. Garbage product accompanied by lousy customer service makes this a company to stay away from. Even for 650 dollars, I would expect to get more than 9 months use from my TV. Garbage product.
