When James Cordon took over, the show felt like a Saturday night game show. But with Craig it was a proper talk show, his comedy and the gags made the show so funny
I love Craig and Jeff, but my goodness Beth is such a great villain, she added so much to the show. And the silent, dancing horse was a brilliant idea. Great writing and producing combined with a likable, quick-witted host. Unbeatable.

Craig had that relaxed flow to him that all good hosts have. INCREDIBLY difficult to keep a random conversation going and keep your audience entertained.
It's funny how they started with the idea of "Sandra the Rhino", ditched that early on cause it was going nowhere and kept the person doing the voice over and created the "Beth" character. And that worked out so much better.

@@bobsaget0429 Yeah, they would have been great to still have. There was a TV show on 25 years ago, that only ran for 21 episodes before it was cancelled, but I set me VHS to record every episode. About 15 years ago I transferred all of those to 8 DVD's. The network apparently didn't think the show was worth keeping, but I liked it. Not long ago I was contemplating putting those DVD's on a thumb drive, but haven't got around to it yet. I never saw these shows with Craig when they were live, not sure why, but like I've said, I'd pay to have them all now. I love his humor, and he's had a lot of interesting guests.
Funny thing is that I don't really find her that attractive when she takes her glasses off. No glases she's like a 6, with her glasses on and she's off the charts. lol

At first I never understood why Craig Ferguson was leaving his show when it was the top show at Late Night, but now I get it. He saw what was coming and got out just in time. Smart
He said he ended his run because he had been doing it for 9 years and was wanting to do something else. He could have stayed if he wanted. I believe (could be wrong on this) he was offered more $ to stay but he was tired.
I miss watching this show on TV so much. Thank goodness for TH-cam and those who upload videos of this show so we can enjoy the re-runs again. In my opinion, Craig Ferguson was the best talk show host ever!!!

I agree with "arrghgarry". She has done other stuff as you say (I just looked her up), but I think she is good enough and appealing enough to deserve being a bigger star and on more prominent shows. And your right Monkey, she sounds more like Scarlett than Scarlett. I just found out that she is from Ohio, which makes me happy. I totally bought the ruse however, that she was from Brooklyn! I'm from Ohio too and she completely fooled me!! I would have bet money that she was from NY and not Youngstown.

I remember when this was going on I missed the first episode, so I didn't realize it was a gag. Dana did such a tremendous job that I thought it was genuine until she started getting up there and dancing.

The real genius of it was how long they played it straight and nearly everyone believed Beth really was a CBS censor. Then they'd throw a bit in here and there to make you wonder, and by the end it was just a running gag.

He was the best out of all of them. If you look at any other talk show host and analyze what they say I PROMISE YOU it won't be clever or witty except for Craig. Craig actually thinks before he talks. Anyone who disagrees with this just doesn't analyze other talk show hosts.

Cordon was dreadful back in the UK too. All I remember him for is insulting Patrick Stewart and some below average sketch show. Was glad to be rid of him, but even seeing his stupid face on youtube from time to time is too much.

I like Beth. She can be geeky/dorky one moment, and fine the next. She seems silly and fun when not acting.
Nowadays talkshow hosts don't mind cursing nearly as much as they'll just bleep it out. But back when Craig was doing it, it was still controversial.. and hilarious. He was ahead of his time.
