  • This 1974 Chevrolet promotional film, titled " Selling Wagons ", was sent to the Chevrolet car dealerships to be used as an in-house Sales and customer training film. This film highlights technical aspects and features of the new model year. Model shown includes Caprise Estate, Impala. Bel Air, Malibu Classis Estate, Vega GT, And Vega Kammback. Anthony Eisly is the spokesperson here for Chevy.
If you look up a different film I posted, titled "1974 Chevy Selling Monte Carlo ", you can see a rare glimpse of the film cartridge viewer that was used at the dealership where the customers and personnel were to view these films. The machine was made by Technicolor and called the " Chevrolet Mini Theater System "
This film came from my personal collection. This film was not downloaded from any website and is not reused content. This restoration is my work. The restoration process started with removing the super8 film from the Technicolor Cartridge. After removal the film was cleaned, repaired, and spooled onto a standard film reel. This film had many scratches and dust marks along with severe color fade. The scanning to digital process and basic color correction was performed on the Lasergraphics Scanstation motion picture film scanner system in 2k resolution. Excess film grain noise was removed and the images upscaled to 4K resolution utilizing Topaz AI software. Then in 4K, extensive color restoration was performed in Davinci Resolve. Scratches and dust marks along with advanced noise removal was performed using NeatVideo. Then a second and final color restoration and image stabilization was performed in DaVinci Resolve. Unfortunately, this film appears to have external sunlight damage causing the color and film image to shift and change as the film progresses. Finally, the film was downscaled back to 2k for uploading to TH-cam. As I work on these films, I try to improve the process as I go along. Thanks for watching.

Former star of the TV Show, "The Hawaiian Eye", Anthony Eisly is the spokes person here for Chevy. He did a few of their TV commercials too.

I REALLY wish I could go back in time to see what year it was, knowing what I now about yearly changes for these cars, but the Caprice Estate shown is essentially an EXACT twin of the brown Chevy wagon I rode in to Camp 40 Acres in Wilmington, MA when I first started as a camper there in the summer of 1984.

Thanks for watching. I have been busy taking classes on CAD design and 3d modeling. 8 weeks of 7 hours per day plus about 4 hours of homework. I am living proof than an old dog can learn some new tricks.

The Caprice Wagon with the 454 V8 did not have dual exhaust.

I hate to break it to this guy … especially 48 years later … but the Bel Air and base Malibu were not available with a third seat. 🤣

You saying Chevy didn't know what it was selling? to get to 15 models, you have to have a three seat BelAir Wagon and Malibu Wagon....

According to factory Chevy sales brochure the '73 Bel-Air wagon was available with 3rd seat... I also have seen some production numbers that show they were made, but in small numbers.

There's a mid 70's Chevy Impala wagon for sale close to me....VERY clean....Unfortunately no room in the garage and our investment guy would probably take a dim view of my frivolous spending.

Something mildly disturbing occurred to me: the bloke doing this presentation is strikingly similar in appearance to the bloke doing the Malibu demonstration in another video...eerily similar, but it definitely isn't the same guy.

Yes, up from 28 cents in 1972. That was a scary time for people who either had long commutes or who had to fuel a truck or van. By 1981, it was up to $1.35. People couldn't afford to drive to work.

Love how this one doesn't have a power tailgate. That was stupid on GM's part. Frankly it was heavy and rather cumbersome to lift. The whole clamshell concept looked trick, but the very fact that GM abandoned it after this generation says something about both its real and perceived advantages in the real world. That 3rd seat, btw wasn't great even for kids past about 10 - Chrysler had it there, rear facing or not. (Ford DFRS? hahahha. But the rest of the interior was much more luxurious)
