@Shutbyotch AM’s story is interesting (not everybody can say they survived a plane crash) but nowhere near Travis’ experience. AM spent like a week in the hospital whereas Travis was in the burn ward for 6 long ass fuckin weeks (with pain killers having minimal effect) and he was offering his friends a million dollars to come kill him Plus Travis had the irrational fear of flying and the premonition that he would for sure die in a plane crash, plus his daughter BEGGED him not to go on that flight, plus he asked his best friend to go and thus feels immense survivors guilt over his death. Pity AM had to relapse and the fact that it was documented on a reality show about helping people get clean is beyond cruelly ironic, but Travis lived an actual nightmare.

This was spoon hard for me to watch. My husband caught on fire when we were kids. The scrapping, the body suits, the time in bed, relearning how to walk. I now rub his scars all the time. Remembering the graphs . My whole life I have looked at fire as a monster that is always coming. The funny thing is that he is not bothered by fire at all. If we watch a movie and someone is in flames I just stare at my husband. Every time I say "Doesn't that freak you out"? Knowing that he know absolutely what that terror feels like and ever time he says "Naw". Meanwhile I am fighting tears.
I worked for a hospital and assisted with wound care therapy...burn care is ROUGH!!! I have never experienced it but I have seen enough people go through it to know it has to be the worst type of pain 😞😣
Travis is just so sweet he is so humble and thats why I like him so much as a performer and he doesnt get all that fake stuff done to his face and body. Through all he has been through he is greatful for what he has and all that pain he endured. He is so genuine looking it makes him look even more handsome. He doesnt have an snobby air about him either and seems to be just a nice person down to earth. Its such a miracle he is here to tell his story and he seems to be happy with what he was born with and not getting all that fake stuff on himself to fit in like other people. He is just a beautiful soul.✌✌🙏❤
I've never been on fire, but I was part of a medical mission trip in Mozambique treating burn patients and it's the most intense experienced I've ever had... If Travis is saying it's the worst pain he's experienced and he was treated here in the US, imagine being treated in one of the poorest countries in the world. The staff cleaned the wounds with a mixture of vinegar and chlorine.
The plane crashed here near me in Columbia, I’ve never seen anything so heartbreaking then live local news and the dash cam video from the police. The plane was a blaze on an embankment between the airport and I-26 and there’s chaos and screaming absolutely heartbreaking... A miracle how Travis was buckled up and awake, he was able to get Adam before he jumped down into the fuel, it was extremely dark and the plane was ripped in half. Travis is the most interesting and inspiring man....
Burns don't really hurt, until the nerves start to grow back. Btw, stop drop and smother works way better than rolling around wafting the flames. Who ever came up with stop drop and roll needs to be lit up, just sayin.
I can't even imagine what he's been through. I am surprised he lived through that but I'm glad he's OK. Hearing about the scrapping made my body feel extremely queasy
I have had third degree burns and they only hurt for a hot minute because the pain immediately stopped as soon as the nerves burned away. And that's when the real danger starts because I didn't think I was burned that bad because I wasn't in pain, so I didn't go the hospital right away. BIG MISTAKE as infection immediately set in, and then when the nerves started growing back the pain was excruciating. The worst memory of my life now is being burned and the long healing process afterwards that takes literally YEARS.
As a blink 182 fan, and his drumming style is a show in itself , His body art is impressive , his tattoo artists are impressive also , glad that everything that has happened in his life he has come through it all , I feel he has risen above just being a band member of blink , because of his look and playing style
I don’t think he’s ever been known as the blink drummer though. Obviously after his departure from the aquabats and he joined blink he wasn’t long playing drums in the transplants, boxcar racer and then all his other collab stuff with rappers etc. He has the most impressive CV out of him, Tom Delonge and Mark Hoppus which is ironic considering blink is what made travis famous
My father was burned a little over 70% of his body with 56% 3rd degree burns and he had some tattoos on his arms that didn’t get burned because he had lineman gloves on that went to his elbows. Anyway he had tattoos on his arms from the navy and that is where the Dr got skin to graft from and when it was done my dad had little pieces of tattoos on different parts of his body. The Dr said he had a little fun placing the skin on his body. My father lived 12 more years after the accident he spent 8 months in the hospital and had 17 major surgeries during the 12 years he lived.

Man... iv always liked Travis barker... since waaaaay before he was known for being Travis barker drummer of blink 182. But watching him on this podcast and other interviews he seems to be even more down to earth and more talented and intellectual than I thought he even was
My theory on tattoos are people who develop nerve disorders are the ones who experience pain. The tats on my neck just tickled, my back and chest felt a little uncomfortable, then I had a dragon tattoo done that went from my right rib cage down my hip and upper leg. The lower the artist went the more painful it became. I almost had him stop but he said he only had another 20 min then the wings. I decided my dragon would be wingless. It looks like a cool sea horse hahaha bc fuck if I'll get it finished. I developed neuropathy shortly after that tat and found it strange that the lower part of my body is effected worse then my upper. I've also heard this from other people.
I have a new appreciation for Travis Barker. I was aware of the plane crash he was in all those years ago, but i think i might have judged him for all of his tattoos, and listening to this interview, gives me an appreciation for him and his tattoos.

Much love 💕💕💕💕
I worked for a hospital and assisted with wound care therapy...burn care is ROUGH!!! I have never experienced it but I have seen enough people go through it to know it has to be the worst type of pain 😞😣
I love Travis! He went through hell and changed his whole life. Mad respect

I've never respected an artist like I did Travis but this takes that to a whole new level.
His voice is so soothing
The plane crashed here near me in Columbia, I’ve never seen anything so heartbreaking then live local news and the dash cam video from the police. The plane was a blaze on an embankment between the airport and I-26 and there’s chaos and screaming absolutely heartbreaking... A miracle how Travis was buckled up and awake, he was able to get Adam before he jumped down into the fuel, it was extremely dark and the plane was ripped in half. Travis is the most interesting and inspiring man....
Southerncross your not an Aussie are you
I thought DJ AM died from an overdose? Travis said he died in the accident @ 3:33
Was that a mistake, or am I wrong?
You’re correct. Dj AM was a recovering addict.
Many feel he died that day in the accident, because of the pain meds he was forced to use to control the pain.
Thanks for the clarification.
He said he got a tattoo to commemorate dj am...and that djam put him out when he was on fire. He didn't say he died in the crash specifically
3:38 he implies they all died in that crash I caught that as well..
Travis is the GOAT! One of my idol growing up and still is..
He's so surprisingly soft-spoken
Burns don't really hurt, until the nerves start to grow back. Btw, stop drop and smother works way better than rolling around wafting the flames. Who ever came up with stop drop and roll needs to be lit up, just sayin.
“I just never think about fire… until you’re on fire, and then you’re like ‘oh shit’”.

I can't even imagine what he's been through. I am surprised he lived through that but I'm glad he's OK. Hearing about the scrapping made my body feel extremely queasy
This dude wasn't supposed to play the drums again. Yet here he is still going hard as ever.
Love the brotherly love n honesty here. Thanks guys. Inspiring.
"For having almost 70 percent of my body burnt like you cant really tell"
The way he looked up as he said that, ugh, shook my soul a lil
Travis is a legend!
It’s so nice to see him so happy and in love
Wow. Just wow. Amazing testimony of survival. So Glad he is still here and making music ❤
During the 90s, travis was a mute. This is probably the most he ever spoken in generations.
From drugs?
My father was burned a little over 70% of his body with 56% 3rd degree burns and he had some tattoos on his arms that didn’t get burned because he had lineman gloves on that went to his elbows. Anyway he had tattoos on his arms from the navy and that is where the Dr got skin to graft from and when it was done my dad had little pieces of tattoos on different parts of his body. The Dr said he had a little fun placing the skin on his body. My father lived 12 more years after the accident he spent 8 months in the hospital and had 17 major surgeries during the 12 years he lived.
Jesus. Sorry about your dad. He sounds like a fighter.
May God bless his soul and your families.
Thanks for sharing
Damn... that's brutal...

This dude is still amazing and hes almost 50. Rock on man
Just after @6:16 is when I finally lost it. The part about A.M. May God bless Travis, A.M., and all of you reading this! Life is really somethin' else.
Such a crazy incident to go through and he talks about it so calmly
I love how soft spoken Travis is.
Yo this guy is a LEGEND!! I always loved his drumming with blink but to hear him speak. Such a cool dude..
Man... iv always liked Travis barker... since waaaaay before he was known for being Travis barker drummer of blink 182.
I've also heard this from other people.
sounds like terrible tats
God bless him. He still has purpose her on Earth.
He kinda looks like that Ninja dude if he had a rough childhood.
I'm so weak
Bro😂😂💀
Ben Harris except Travis Barker is actually cool lol
Ben Harris yup, I can totally c it
I have a new appreciation for Travis Barker. I was aware of the plane crash he was in all those years ago, but i think i might have judged him for all of his tattoos, and listening to this interview, gives me an appreciation for him and his tattoos.
Nothing but respect for Travis on a whole different level now listening to this.
Jesus so much respect for Travis!
