    46 years ago in high school my hubs gave me a tiny little engagement ring - three years later we added a thin gold band - after 32 years those rings wore through - he bought me the wowza set - I will leave that set for my children and be buried in the chip he gave me so many years ago-we were high school sweethearts - his chest hair is gray and I am in bad health but I will meet my maker having only ever loved one man

    You are the one who made me make my first tomato sandwich and BLTs ( I considered to fainting like Kaylen when I first tasted these)❤🥪 Here in Europe these are not well known, so I can not be grateful enough! And you inspired me to start canning beans and meats and other goods. It is so lovely to see in this video how much you are loved by Dusty ❤ You have a wonderful family :) Never stop what you do! You are helping so much and inspire so many people. Your lovely bubbly and goofy personality just adds a lot more positive vibes to your channel. You are a precious bestie for us! We never knew anything but fried potatoes, soup beans or green beans, and cornbread(the right kind, no egg, no sugar, half buttermilk and half water) and we were LUCKY to get chicken or bacon. Stretch a pound of bacon over 7 adults. Im no longer in that position and these days, I'd give anything for my Momma's food!!! ❤❤❤

    We used to go to my parent's house on Christmas Eve and have finger foods and open presents from each other. When we were done eating and opening and having fun, we'd watch the movie Holiday Inn. Hi, Brooke, and Dusty,
    First, I want to say, "Dusty, thank you for your service. Also, Brooke, thank you, and your kids for the sacrifices you made while Dusty was serving in the military." I've seen first hand the sacrifices my daughter-in-law, and the kids made while my son served nearly 30 years. So, a huge THANK YOU to all of you! My daughter, and I enjoy watching you, and your family very much. Your videos make our day! You're fabulous! Keep up the great work! Okay, here is an idea for you, and your family. One summer, my sister, and I visited all 88 state parks in Missouri. That was so much fun! We made some great memories. Take care. Big hugs! 🤗

    We definitely want to learn about cheap things at Pigeon Forge please! By the way, we did the same thing about traveling that you guys are doing. Our kids are now grown; they’re 36 and 38 and we had taken them to 43 states by the time they left for college. We called it our motel 6 trips, eating off of the tailgate for breakfast and lunch. Now we take our camper! And we are like you also in the fact that we want to go to Scotland, Ireland because I’m of Irish descent and my husband is of Scottish descent. We live right across the mountain from you guys. My hubby and I just retired. Started watching your channel last year. Love you Brooke! Listen to Dusty… do a meet n greet! We will be there!

    You could set up a food bank once a month in a local community center. You would contact local businesses to donate food or funds to purchase food.
    You could also have frugal classes at the centers. Class for young adults would be good. A lot of them don’t know how to handle money.

    Just a quick FYI for you Brooke - both my guys are avid hunters. We do not have space in the freezer for any more deer. They process their own and prefer it to be mostly ground meat. I cook it all up (yes, it takes a good while!) and then I dehydrate it! They like it much better than canned ground meat, and it takes me 5 minutes to rehydrate it for whatever I'm making. I vacuum seal it in 2qt jars, and can usually fit at least 4-5# per jar.
    Edited to add: I was diagnosed with PTSD after my oldest son passed from injuries he received in a car accident. Crazy what the body does to try to protect itself in times of stress/trauma.

    • @BrendaAnderson73
      @BrendaAnderson73 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I’m so very sorry. Prayers. I really need a dehydrator. Is there any specific thing to do to the meat. Just cook and dehydrate and pack in jars and vacuum seal? Do you add any seasonings? Thanks.

    • @ccwriter2544
      @ccwriter2544 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@BrendaAnderson73
      Thank you for that.
      I cook the burger until no longer pink. I do put garlic powder on it but that is just personal preference (I also add salt to the bottom of the pot, because someone once told me that it prevents sticking). I pour the cooked meat into colanders and rinse lightly - deer meat is usually so lean I think it really doesn't need it, but it's a habit from when I did hamburger. I let it sit to drain/dry a bit, then spread it on the trays. Dehydrate @ 140 degrees until they are "rocks" - bone dry and hard. Then fill my jars and seal them up. When you are ready to use some, heat water to boiling, add meat rocks and let sit. Or, if you are making something liquidy, just add to liquid as it cooks (I do that with chili, goulash and soups).
      I hope you decide to get a dehydrator. I hear they can be found at goodwill for $5 sometimes, for the Nesco brand! I use mine all the time - I just learned how to dehydrate chicken and turkey, and I am loving it!

    Hello from SW lower Michigan/Michiana area! I just found you during the early hours of this morning (2am) when I couldn't sleep bc I have the flu and your poor man dinners video popped up in my YT feed for the 4th morning in a row. I'm hooked!! I also learned a valuable lesson when my former husband's mother passed. I'm the reason why my whole family and his started in 1993 and continue to this day to ALWAYS say I LOVE YOU when we part whether it be in person, on the phone, or through texting. His momma didn't think she was loved or would be remembered so I made up my mind that no one I loved would ever have a doubt about how David or I felt about them ever again bc here today gone tomorrow happens a lot. David gladly agreed and joined me in voicing or texting our love. Now both of our families, including nieces, nephews, etc ALWAYS SAY I LOVE YOU when leaving or ending a conversation. ALWAYS. It's second nature now. 💜💜💜💜💜💜💜
    GOD BLESS 😊

    I have 4 sons. We don’t homeschool but my youngest started kindergarten the year schools shut down because of covid. I was so worried he’d fall behind because besides being in daycare and preschool, he didn’t have the traditional school experience and I am definitely not a teacher. I bought the entire Hooked on Phonics dvd series that was popular when I was a kid (I’m 41) and had him go through that. I’m so glad I did. He can read and spell above his grade level and does so well in school. It’s like the schools never even shut down. I recommend the Hooked on Phonics program to everyone. Reading comprehension is so important for success in every subject. Sometimes he says things and I’m like “how did you know that?” He’s like “I can read, Mom” like I was crazy for even asking 😂

    For someone who worked for a few nonprofits You are right ,the red tape is mind boggling .. The paper work will keep you busy more then a job. I can recommend if your more into doing then earning . SO many nonprofits need volunteers where you can learn the ropes and find out what you can do and how to do it .. Experience is the best teacher . it made my heart sing to hear Dusty takes the boys hunting ...Love your videos..

    Thank You for answering all the questions I posted. Lol I am chatty.
    Dusty's channel is a hoot ! Keep those taste testing coming - would be funny to do a blindfolded taste testing.
    What is Huckleberry ?
    My suggestion volunteer at a food bank for a year or 2 to get to know the regulations then if you want to start one you will have some information. We had to do safety food training to volunteer.
    Thank you Brooke for encouraging others and for being such a great friend to all. I am proud to be a Bestie

    Hi Brooke, From my memory. I believe All you need to start any non profit business is 3 board members, a president, a secretary, and a treasurer. And those 3 ppl could be you and Your family members. And you would be fantastic at this, and this would be soooo you!!! Brooke I have watched you take very little and make it Delicious!!! You could teach so many young mothers, fathers, how to survive how to and what to buy and how to prepare it . And make food delicious!!! This would be something that's so needed and You Would be Fantastic at this!!! ❤❤❤

    Sometimes being a member of AAA can save money and buying those local discount books that groups sell and if Groupon is still around. Also use any of the money back apps for things you already buy and now Walmart offers manufacturers coupon Cash in their app. I belong to online saving groups in Facebook. I also know where all of the discounted and closeout areas are in all of my local grocery stores and ask the butcher what day the meat is marked down.

Thrilled to know we’ve been to the same place. I can give you frugal tips for London, when the time comes.💖 Happy Thanksgiving 💖

    Love y'all! Another good thing to add to ypur shrimp boil is corn on the cobb and smoked sausage! I am from Louisiana. Another good frugal meal is you put hamburger meat in the bottom of a 9 ×13 pan season it and spead it out the put onions on top and sliced potatoes cut like potatoe chips. Then add a can of cream of chicken soup on top then add slice cheese on top . Bake in the oven at 350 degrees untill the potatoes are tender! Hope you try it !

    You could start out working at a food pantry to gain experience before branching out on your own. A type of pantry that's greatly needed is a pantry that delivers to homebound people. Currently you could start a meals on wheels service for the local food bank. Example meals for five or ten families. Don't know how much they pay people for that type service. You could work as a personal assistant or shopper for home bound people. Some of the nanny type agencies are always looking for people for special projects. Most of those jobs are part time.

    Tuna tacos. Buy tuna steaks, pull the layers apart a little (stretch the steaks). Marinate about 15-30 minutes. I like ginger/garlic teriyaki marinade. Cook tuna on a rack over a cookie sheet 350 for about 12-15 minutes. Heat the tortillas. Shred tuna. Add tuna to tortillas, top with coleslaw (homemade dressing or store bought, your preference). I like the slaw mix made from broccoli and carrots with a little bit of purple cabbage. I use the small tortillas (not street size), I eat two and he eats three. One pkg of tuna two pounds (usually three steaks) is expensive but it’s wild caught (good for you) and will easily feed the five of you. Any extra fish can be made into tuna salad (reheated fish of any kind is repulsive and rude!). It’s SO good tho. I’ve actually had to buy tuna specifically to make him tuna salad because he will NOT eat canned anymore. It’s also good mixed into macaroni salad with peas!

    You may have done it before but maybe a series on “no cook meals” where you literally don’t need a stove, oven or anything. Times are getting tough and turning on cooking devices is expensive!!!!
    Shelf stable meals is a good suggestion too!
    Maybe a canning tutorial? I’m sure other channels have done it but you’re enjoyable to watch.
