Brooke I am going off topic here for a minute. I am having a biopsy this Friday and have had lots if pain. As you know I am raising grandkids. The reason I am sharing is because I was a bit down today and laid down in my bed and turned on you tube and there you were. A shining light with your smile. Thank you bestie for the cheer up. Love you and that wonderful family. Love all of the besties here❤❤❤
We should all make 5 dollar meals to give away and call them Brooke’s blessing and leave them or hand them out all over the place - do a Christmas / thanksgiving blessing to spread the love and light Brooke brings us
Pantry Chicken Corn Chowder 2 cans diced potatoes 2 cans chicken broth or bullion 1 can evaporated milk 1/2 cup potato flakes 4 Tbsp butter or butter flakes 1 spoon minced garlic or dehydrated Salt, pepper, seasonall to taste 2 5oz little cans or 1 12oz big can of chicken 1 can whole kernel corn, drained add 1 extra can any potatoes if needed Cook on stove or in crock pot until hot
What’s really great about those, is you can fill them with ANYTHING! Reuben Cheeseburger Pepperoni Pizza Ham and Cheese Sloppy Joe Taco Cheesesteak Bacon, egg and cheese The list is endless!!
I cannot thank you enough for your channel, suggestions, and ideas. As a handicap person (and only in my mid 40's) you give me so very many ideas and suggestions. I just love you and your whole family. Thank you Brook for making my days better. 🙏
I TOTALLY understand Im a stroke survivor just turned 52 and her meals are simple to do by myself I like the feeling of independence! Brooke gives us inspiration
When I started solo camping a few years ago at age 50 (lol), I found TWO Coleman camp stoves for $10 each on FB marketplace still in their cases never used. Score! Now, I still camp but one is in my emergency kit as a permanent edition as well as plenty of fuel. Yes, I’m insane. 😂
I have these type of "blessing bags" for families in our apartment complex ready to go with directions on how to make them. This is because my sweet "middle magpie" likes to tell her friends that we have food for moooonths....so when these friends need a hearty meal, they just whisper it to Magpie and she will come and "sneak a brown bag" for them to take home. For this reason, I have been "hoarding" the huge brown bags our walmart deliveries come in. She knows not to tell people what it is or who it is for and she is to never discuss it after she gives it to her friend. The certain adults also know I have extra food set aside for families, just in case. Thank you for sharing this.
this must be a southern thing to put jam with gravy and biscuits, done it with just biscuits but never with white gravy and hashbrowns. Thank you for these ideas, we are going through a horrible financial crisis and getting cheap ideas that taste good is always helpful
Another really good shelfstable super cheap quick dinner, and you can get it all at the dollar tree is a box of pasta, 1 can no bean chili and one of the packets of jalapeño Velveeta cheese, and a packet of cornbread mix. Cook the pasta add in the chili and cheese stir up and then bake the corn muffins per package directions for the side. Quick yummy 5.00 shelf stable
Brooke I am laughing here in the UK that what you call ‘pockets’ are literally Pasties. Pasties literally were made for miners so they didn’t need plates (pasties here usually have more overlap of pastry as miners discarded that bit to not have to wash hands). But anything in pastry is good!
You pronounce those "paysties" though, the kind you eat are pronounced "pahsties". The thick crimp round the edge of the pasty had two purposes, Cornish tin ore was often found along side arsenic bearing deposits, so it allowed the miners to eat their meal, without ingesting toxic heavy metals. Secondly, they threw the leftover crust down the mine to keep the Knockers (malevolent spirits that live in mines) happy, so they didn't pull out the pit props or collapse the tunnels!
@@AuntVickiesCraftCorner we’re not debating what you call them. We’re just saying what we in the UK call Pasties is different. What you call pasties I would call a nipple tassel. Nothing wrong with those. Ours is usually a bit tastier unless you get something edible. And I am from Devon (county next to Cornwall so we have mines) these thing have been our history for hundreds of years. I am sure someone from the US will understand long running history is something people want to share.
You could use emergency no cook individual meals to put in ziploc bags to give to homeless. If you have cans, include a p38 can opener. You can buy them in bulk for cheap. We have so many homeless in Tulsa area😢 im always looking for ways to help
Canned chicken is a staple in my pantry. I use it when I don’t want to cook chicken. It’s so convenient and tastes great. I also keep the pizza dough mix and a variety of boxed foods as pantry staples. Another great video. I’m definitely trying the homemade “emergency “ hot pockets. I’m going to make extras to freeze. I appreciate all of the time you put into your videos.
You can cook a lot of stuff on a gas grill outside. 40 yrs ago before we got a gas stove in the house I made our breakfast including the coffee on our gas grill lol Amazed the hubby lol I cook this way with rice a roni alot and those pasta roni boxes
You sure can! We have a gas grill (and a charcoal grill) with a burner on one side and we have a Coleman camping stove that has two burners and run on the small cans of butane. I live in Florida so we have hurricanes and we lose power for a few days sometimes a couple weeks. In 2004 I was pregnant with my oldest daughter we lost power for two weeks the storm went north of us changed patterns and came back around to us again and we lost it for two more weeks. It’s unpredictable how long we may be out of power. Before each storm we refill at least 5 propane tanks for the grill and we have plenty of charcoal for the other grill and keep stock of the cans of butane. We eat pretty normal with the grill and 3 burners. And we have a generator that runs our big freezer and fridge and freezer. I can cook pretty much anything on the grill plus have the burners. We just have to have water to wash dishes luckily our generator is big enough to run our well.
This is actually a good idea. Our power went out in the whole town I live in, and all of our food went bad. Thank you once again, Brooke. The power was out for five days because of a winter storm.
Brook, I love how positive and happy you always are on your videos …I know it can’t always be easy to come up with content all the time and be so positive but if you struggle or having a bad day you never show it! I love your light and always look forward to your videos!
I love these but one thing to remember if it is being used for a emergency situation you may not have any water or milk. So maybe add some powder milk or some bottle water with The kits
Perhaps consider a video for emergency when power is out. How would those pockets cook up in a covered skillet over a butane burner, rocket stove, or over an open fire? Could be useful for camping too...
I thought I was the only person that liked jam or jelly with their biscuits and gravy! Mmmm. Great recipes. I'm going to put some of these together for a blessing box that's near my house, its always empty. ☹
I looked on Amazon and 4 of those boxes of Hashbrowns ate $25.99 Omgosh! I got to look at my dollar tree as much as I hate being around a lot of people.
You are amazing, Bestie! The meal kits for Blessing Boxes is genius. I love when I see a new video and that breakfast casserole looks so good they all do but I want breakfast.☺ Thank you for sharing and be blessed always, my Southerland Squad! xoxo
I can’t imagine trying to feed four boys and a hard working husband. That’s a full time job all in itself. My MIL did the same thing. She did huge amounts of home baking. I’d never seen meals like the ones she dished up when I first sat down at their table. The temptation to fill them up on carbohydrates, which are filling and hunger busting, is huge. Fortunately they were all sports mad so burnt it up. Food was SO much cheaper in the 70s & 80s - especially meat.
never seen the squash and onions where I live, need to see if I can find some !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! thanks for the good ideas, need to get started on these kits !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I was just thinking about seasoning for emergency meals and thought you could use a snack size zip lock bag and measure out the amount of salt, pepper, onion and garlic powder, etc., and put the small seasoning bag in the emergency meal bag. You'd have the seasoning available and pre-measured in one convenient baggie.
OK beautiful ladies...how about using a pill organizer for spices? They are about a dollar, have 7 compartments that snap closed. I think this could really work! I used to do this when camping many many years ago. I didn't plan for it to be long term but think it could. Whatcha think?
Great meals Brooke , my favorite would be the Bacon Ranch pockets snd the last recipe of Hashbrown sausage gravy casserole ! I love Libby’s sausage gravy it’s so delicious !
These are some great ideas Brooke!! The only one I'd have to change is the one with canned squash. Id do it with beans, peas, or fresh squash. The good thing about cooking, is you can always fine tune for your personal taste. Thanks!

To take the breakfast casserole to another level adding in scrambled eggs, a bag of chopped peppers and onions from Dollar Tree, chopped ham or pieces of cut up breakfast sausage would be so yummy. However, I know it would be less economical. But delicious

How do you find a blessing box? I tried to find some on NJ to donate to but I couldn’t find them. I’m not sure if it’s a thing there. I’m in Tennessee until Thursday and I’d love to go get some stuff to put in. Every winter my husband and I help our local Salvation Army with their homeless population. During “Cov” all the warming stations and soup kitchens were closed. If they were lucky they would get a bagged lunch. We took donations on Facebook from friends who either donated money or sent products to us and we made care packages that the Salvation army distributed. We would love to fill a blessing box before we head home. We are near Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge area.
These recipes all look really yummy. I don't think I can choose a favorite. They're all pretty budget friendly meals too. This is not about food but I have to say that.. I'm always amazed at what an awesome head of hair Ryder has. If he let's it get shoulder length or longer it's going to be super amazing. It's already awesome. Does someone else in the family have hair like that? My grandpa had super thick hair like that but he was born in 1900 so he never had very long hair, his hair used to stick up straight on top and Brillcream didn't stand a chance of taming it. My grandpa was prematurely grey and when he passed as an elderly man he still had his full head of white hair. Hope Ryder keeps his awesome locks forever too!
These all looked good. Question though: How would you make hot pockets and casseroles without electricity? Do you have a gas oven or a camp oven or what?
You can make a stovetop Dutch oven if you don’t own one. Get a frying pan with a lid, a smaller pan that fits inside it and three pennies. Set the small pan on the three pennies inside the frying pan. Put the items to be baked in the small pan. Cover with the frying pan lid. Place on the top of a kerosene heater, gas or charcoal grill or a propane stove. For months, I used this concept using an electric skillet to bake biscuits, cornbread, cakes and meatloaf. Make the meatloaf into patties for quicker results.
I tried your chicken ranch and bacon things today and they were delicious . I love watching you and your family. You are doing a great job on showing people how to cook and not cost alot of money. I love to cook and it does save alot of money.

I discovered your channel a few weeks ago and have been watching your videos whenever I can since then. I think I am going make a list of ingredients from your emergency meal videos to follow when I am doing my $ 5.00-a-week stock-up purchases. That way I will be able to easily make meals from my stockpile instead of having a bunch of miscellaneous ingredients I need to figure out how to make them go together. Also I would have easy-to-make meals to use when I just don't want to cook. I am loving everything you do.
Yum! Great video, thank you for breaking it down and showing us how easy it can be. I have a Q--what do you think about using the chicken broth to replace some of the water for the pizza crust??
It might mess with the salt content of the dough and make it not rise as well, but since pizza crust doesn't rise much anyway I don't actually know. Curious to see what she thinks!
I had no idea squash came in a can! Got 2 in my walmart cart! That zatarans rice is over $8 a box here. Ill stick with rice a roni! This dish looks amazing throwing in some kinders carmalized onion butter viola

Pantry Potato Soup
2 cans diced potatoes
2 cans chicken broth or bullion and water
1 can evaporated milk
1/2 cup mashed potato flakes
4 Tbsp butter or butter powder
1 spoon minced garlic or dehydrated
Salt, pepper and season all to taste
add 1 extra can any potatoes if needed
Cook on stove or in crock pot until hot

Place on the top of a kerosene heater, gas or charcoal grill or a propane stove. For months, I used this concept using an electric skillet to bake biscuits, cornbread, cakes and meatloaf. Make the meatloaf into patties for quicker results.

Brooke, you never disappoint. Really great 👍 job and I liked the heating of the bacon bits. Winner, winner. Love 💕 and Hugs. ❤❤❤
I can do these emergency meal pockets if the USA gets in to another Depression, and take them to the street for people who are really hungry.
So glad you're sharing these ideas here too as I don't have any of those other platforms to see them. God Bless!
FANTASTIC ideas! I have lots of shelf stable supplies, but not put together in meals. i'll be making up some of these soon.
