Old school awesome. Love the simplicity. Sure it took you awhile...but the journey is almost as good as the destination. I just bought my first charcoal grill as I near retirement. Steak every day if I want to. I make a mean hamburger too.
the coal completely disintegrates, so the wood top is the coals. However wood has a much more pronounced flavor than char-coal does, since most of the flavor compounds are burned off while the wood carbonizes when making the char-coal, so get a much more muted flavor compared to fresh hard-wood coals which still retain a lot of their inherent flavor. But similar to coal you still have to burn off the impurities before you cook with it directly.
I used a Weber for many years . Now I have a Smokey joe due to space . I can’t wait to try j always thought the heat would mess with the grill . Thanks so much !!!
I love the Weber Smokey Joe and that meat he cooked looks great but the location sucks. Why would anyone choose to cook in such an ugly and windy spot?
WHAT - if anything, do you do t collect ask & keep the air vent clear & breathable/ adjustable? I love wood cooking with my Smokey Joe especially with the Gabbys grill Santa María attachment.
Uh - all that wood burned down to what looks like the original amount of lump coal????

@@ZanathKariashi I agree. This video is a waste of everyone's time.
How long charcoal fire last?
What about all that heat? Wouldn’t that burn the paint & damage the grill?
We didn't have any problems with paint or grill damage!
That is probably why we bought a Webber and not a cheaper knock off.

I have done that several times & I can state that the Webber Jumbo Joe that we have is rock solid & shows no damage.
