    Great video, very helpful indeed. Does the single bulb which you replaced work for both angle eyes on the same side.or is there also a second bulb on the same side?

      The single bulb works for both the angel eye rings in each headlight 👍 Glad it was useful, I couldn't find many guides for the halogens.

    Looked like tricky business for a small pesky bulb. Well done that man 👍

      Many cuts and scratches, I'll take the wheel off and headlight out next time 🤦‍♂️

    Just done mine but pulled the headlight out. To do this you need to loosen the front panel as the headlight wont come out the gap. To do this you need remove a fornt brace. All to change a 10w bulb. Rediculous.

      @GeesDrive  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I've seen another video where they pull it out the wheel well but it still involved loads of screws getting the various trims and liners out the way. Still ridiculous. You can see why BMW rectified this in later models.

      @@GeesDrive Yeah. I pulled the whole light assemble out of the wheel well. Dont think you can get it unless u split the front quarter panel. And to do this you need to remove a front brace. I think the BMW engineers were laughing thinking how much trouble this H10 bulb will be to replace.

      This is the bulb. Narva 12V 10W H10W Miniature Halogen Globe (Box Of 1) - 17830
      Code: 90136207

    Is it possible to put a more powerful LED there so that the rings work as DRL? In the xenon version there is an H8 bulb and there is no problem. In the case of halogen lamps, there is another solution, unfortunately :(

    • @GeesDrive
      @GeesDrive  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'm sure you can get H10W LED bulbs but cannot confirm if they will work fully. My feeling is BMW know they messed up the halogens in the X5 and rectified it on the next run.

    Why do car manufacturers do that? Having us take off car wheels and go through so much work just to change a bulb.

    • @GeesDrive

      Probably to get you into the dealership. Really annoying.

    Spent half a bloody day trying to get that damn bulb out. Can’t see those two screws holding it in and don’t know what fitting they are so total blind guess work. Do you remember what fitting type and size they are?

    • @GeesDrive
      @GeesDrive  ปีที่แล้ว

      I feel your pain, so much easier with the headlight out if you can which is what I did for the other side when that bulb went. I can't remember the exact size but I would guess either a 3mm or 4mm hex screw - 02:52

    • @pimansuki
      @pimansuki ปีที่แล้ว

      By the looks of it I’d have to dismantle half the front of the bloody car to remove the headlights. Just for a tiny blown bulb. What a piece of shit engineering.

    • @GeesDrive
      @GeesDrive  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@pimansuki Totally right, shocking design. Wheel off, arch liner off plus a few modules and plastics plus it's a sealed unit. Crazy! I think they rectified it with the facelift and not many had the halogens but still, terrible design. Good luck 🙏

      @@GeesDrive Yep - Its a nightmare -- Really the only way to do this is to remove the headlight - I know I have tried it different ways -- Its a pita for what should be simple - But its not that hard to get the headlight out when you know where the bolts are (You will need to also remove the plastic bracket thats under the headlight (some bolts are inside the engine bay) - Once you have that bracket out its pretty easy to pull the headlight down. Its a stupid design

    • @GeesDrive
      @GeesDrive  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ThePinktomato I had to do the other side recently and even getting the headlight out was a nightmare. You can see why they rectified this eventually. Luckily the halogen setups are fairly rare on the E70 but still, no consolation for those with them.

      Personal preference really, quite like the period oem yellow look. LEDs would also look great on the E70👍

      Led is risky business. They could start to flicker anytime or other stupid shit and they don’t look as nice.

    Mines is a 2017, I’ve been trying to figure this out, the little info i got says it’s a led module

    • @GeesDrive
      @GeesDrive  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm not sure about a 2017 but it's unlikely you will have to suffer this pain. I think it's only for halogens 07-08 in the UK and AUS.
