The last time I went to a side shop for the main headlight they charged me over $400 and like a dummy I fell for it, SMH, he saw me coming a mile away. Great video, thanks again!
Thanks. You saved me 30 bucks (40 bucks to repair - 10 dollars I spent to buy the light buld on amazon). It turned out the damn thing is the same one in Bmw x5, and I mean they're both by Philips. Get your hand in the car, turn left to remove the cap, turn left again to dislodge the light bulb, tip out the clips on each side to separate the light bulb from the connector. Push light bulb back into connector, put back into socket, turn out to secure light bulb, turn right to lock the cap. Close the hood. Left daytime running lamp GONE!!!!!

Thanks Daniel. I paid $15.10 with tax from AutoZone and took 5 min to replace. It was slightly harder to get the new bulb on then the old one off as you have to match up the connections in the very tight space. Great video.

I guess the earlier models are slightly different in that mine was behind a rectangular snap off cover. pretty easy to access. I found 2 bulbs on Amazon for $10.99. Done. Dan Bryant with the '06; I'm guessing yours is the same as my '04.
You must have small hands because this took me 20 minutes to get the bad bulb out and another 40 minutes to get it back in. Lots of swearing, self doubt and eventually success. Appreciate the video!
I have a 2011 35d. Just changed the high low bulb. Got a great deal on bulbs on amaxon. A set for 32.00. Look great and saved a boatload of cash. It was a pain because the space gets very cramped but still worth it. Drivers side is a little easier but both can ge done in 15 min. 30 min to save a few hundred is awesome! I should of made a video.
I changed my bulb on my 2011 X5 today and it took me 30 minutes. I was lucky I didnt damage the light assy. The removal was relatively easy. It is the installation that earns the BMW tech's keep. You need to have extra small hands and be comfortable installing by feel. The wiring is very short. It is very easy to improperly seat the bulb and cover. I wore neoprene gloves occasionally touch the bulb as I was trying to wiggle it in. If you dont do it correctly it might seem fine but you will create problems in the future. I am probably going take it to the dealer next time.
I thought this guy's post was helpful and right to the point. I followed his process and feel like I just saved at least $200. My BMW dealership is pretty greedy. By the way, if you do not have Trump-like dainty hands, getting into the spaces where these bulbs are hidden is tough. I had to use small channel grips and some needle nose pliers to finish the job but it was, overall, an easy way to save a bunch of $. Thanks for the tip Daniel Boland.

did you ever figure it out? I have the same year/model but can't figure out how to remove the bulb. I can detach the wiring but it won't move whether I pull it or twist left or right.
Unless it has an x-ray machine or a metal detector, mine will always be on me whether it's posted or not. My family and my neighbors are more important to me then your gun free zone. I even carry mine to church, my pastor encourages it.
;Couldn't do it on my 2006 X5. The round opening is about the size of a silver dollar. couldn't get in there. Last thing I want is to take it to the dealer! But I think I'm screwed.
+Dan Bryant My '04 uses the rectangular cover to access that bulb. Yours may be the same. I also have the smaller round hole but as you said it's very small.

That’s not the day light ! The day light is. A small light goes on when u put the Parking light on
