One thing I read that changed my perspective recently is that true gratitude isn't just for the good things. It's also for our struggles, because without them, we cannot grow.
I don’t know if you’ll ever see this but I just had a random dream about you after not seeing your stuff for years, hunted you down, saw this video and I think I was meant to tell you that if you go on Adobes live chat and tell them you can’t afford the monthly cost of the “all apps” subscription they will offer it to you for £30 a month for a year instead. I do it literally every year. You’re welcome. So happy to see you back. ☀️
With your skills Ben you should forget about classes and groups but set up a photography school. I've seen your work over the years and your potential is immense. Deep down I see an artist, one with feelings, willing to share and continue creating. Go for it Ben, its at your fingertips.
“Feel my feelings” love that quote. Thank you for showing us all that it’s ok to express your emotions whether they be positive or negative. Keep working towards those goals, whether it be daily or future goals, it’s inspiring to see the path isn’t always the smoothest but the gratitude remains. I’d consider selling some more photo prints, I have two of your previous photographs and continue to love your style. ✌🏼
PS. Regarding money. Although you may already know it (it’s hard to judge from such small fragments of time on TH-cam). You are an unbelievable photographer/videographer. I know the music world is always looking for more people to shoot/take videos. Just an idea
I would totally buy a photography course from you: how to edit on Lightroom, Photoshop, how to vlog, budget setup etc. Loving the vlogs! Feels like the OG days!
Thanks for the reminder, this is my current situation, and yes, learning and paying school fees is part of the process, I'm here for it all and I'm stoked you are too!
Ben, I just wanted to say thanks for being so open and vulnerable on these vlogs! I loved all your content back when you were daily vlogging and will always appreciate all the moments you captured back then, whether it was long cycle rides with Dan, adventures with Dan Mace, trips with Steve etc, it was great to vicariously watch someone travelling and living life to the full and I still occasionally go back to watch them. Like a lot of people it caught me off guard when the vlogs suddenly ended at the end of 2017 and a month later you uploaded to say you'd had a bike accident, changed pretty much every aspect of your life and even had Bells palsy from all the stress! It seemed a shame that you so suddenly wished to cast away a lot of things you'd done so well over the years, but we all go on journeys of self discovery and it's great to see you back to vlogging albeit this time with a healthy balance of knowing yourself, and being more present in the moment. Keep doing what you do, you've got this 💪
I love how you are one of the OGs on the platform and in the same time you are just so close to all of us! And I can see the skills of many years vlogging. Keep it up! :)
Hi, Ben! I'm having a very similar process as you, having to start all over again, moving out and etc and your videos are giving me such a vibrant and good energy. It's helping me with my anxiety. So thank you very much!
keep it going. excited to see you growing again. i liked the mandala. i would suggest that you should focus on promoting and selling more of your photos / prints / mandalas. i also think that the more you take us on the journey of getting to the 60k van (regular updates on the progress) the more people are tuned in and come back. this way the vlogs have a clearer, continous project guideline that makes you want to watch every vlog. keep the momentum going.
Ben, I have been watching your videos for years. Hang in there and be persistent! You are very talented and have many gifts! Continue to believe in yourself!
Ben - you beautiful soul. I could listen to your words every day, I wish you had a podcast. I’m running a lot, I’m 28 with a young family. Totally different lives but aligned on so much with God, physical movement, emotion, I could go on forever. I’m not sure what my goal is here but I would love a correspondence. I have so many questions. Continue being you.
Sorry for only just seeing this, thank you for the super thanks :) I do have a podcast! It's called New Perceptions, I need to upload more regularly tbh! Happy to hear there's alignment and harmony with our journeys, we're all going through similar stuff in unique ways, finding our way home :)
I love your openess about your struggles. This is so fresh and a contrast to all this hustle content on youtube. I remember watching you when I was really young, many years ago. Are you still in contact with louis, steve booker and all the other folks from this time?
I suggest “Healing Money Wounds” and Do this Money Meditation to check in: At your doo bell it is ringing: Money is at your door: How does it look like ? Would you like to let it in or not? How does it feel? Let’s invite it in and drink a coffee with money and have a honest discussion? Tell money everthing you feel an think about it. 🤗Yes like you mentioned in the video Saving & investing money is also honoring this energy that loves to support you and your purpose !! Also say thank you when you give it away, Thank you for giving and receiving..gratitude
Better yet, I've been experiencing co-dependency first hand! It's wild, and painful, and something I thought I'd worked on... apparently it's an ongoing process. Thanks :)
It's kind of crazy to imagine that I know you already for 10 years online and follow you along all these years. I'm looking forward to see more of your videography / photography / art. I always enjoyed so much watching it, got inspiration and saw this immense talent of storytelling you are having. Have you actually ever thought also about hitchhiking (as long as you don't have a van) ? Could this be an option for you? Sending lots of love and a big hug!
Ben, these videos are amazing. I'm going through something similar, and you're bringing me a lot of optimism and encouragement. Please keep them going.
Loving the vlogs again. Uhhhh it's like a throwback haha. Also the content resonates with me alot lately so it's nice feeling like I'm not the only one going through this. Much love mate 🩷
You're finally back! 🎉😊 Great vlog like in the good old days! I've been following you since 2013, you really inspired me to start making videos and travel, thank you. Are you planning to meet or even better go on a trip with one of your old friends (Louis, Steve, SP, Jeremy) ?
I had issues with Adobe too, had to wait for the full 'year' of subscritpion to end to cancel. I believe they have hidden small prints saying youre stuck in the 'contract' yearly, even though its monthly payments
Had the EXACT same assumption mate, all gone. Exact same place... Some of my mate's are also starting again, WITH KIDS AND A MORTGAGE :/ :/ Small wins, 2024 is all about small, consistent wins.
Put out my graduation book from 2015 and read in it. I have put you as my biggest idol back then. The real mf lose it and get it all back to make sure they fuckin deserve it. There is a big "romantic" aspect in starting all over again. Wish you well man enjoy the intensity of live its the opposite of being dead.
Awesome to see you back on the TH-cams more frequent. Will we be getting an old style vlog with Steve Booker and Lois Cole? Would be cool to also catch up with Jeremy Loops as well. Great to see you back keep up the vlogs.
Have you read The Psychology of Money? I was always overextending with money until I read it at the start of this year and it's completely changed how I think about money.
Jo I’m from Mexico 🇲🇽 I remember you have this awesome Land Cruiser and I remember that those years I was not doing very well But after i saw your videos and how you used to straggle with your truck 🛻 and all those wonderful videos at the beach 🏝️ that u use to take with a dron in Cape Town You just make me forgot about my bad days Keep it up 👍 Maybe a new truck 🛻 to fix a new project in your life like visual vibes
Adobe is a tough one to cancel, you have to log in on the base website and find your account section. You have to catch it before it renews as I think there’s a delay on cancellation or only certain times you can do it. Good luck. Took me about 6 months to finally get mine cancelled!!! (Do miss it tho, but can’t afford it!!!)
Have you ever considered to do a classical 9-5 in the film industry? I rewatched the mission selfie series I bought ages ago. You already have a catalogue of beautiful films, Audi ads and even a BBC documentary. Doing a classical 9-5 helps me a lot to have a structured day and I am doing amazing things there. It will jump start your plans to Van life etc.
For sure I've considered it, if the right job came along I'm sure I'd jump at it, but for now I'm going to focus on working for myself and delivering as much value as I can to you guys, it's my job to figure out how I can make money from this again :)
Howdy Ben, I'm not sure when I first started following your channel, but roughly a decade ago, since back when I had a few hundred subscribers and your channel was at a level that I couldn't imagine ever achieving. Fast forward a decade and we're about even now (which is relevant to what this comment is about). I thought of writing under your last video but wasn't sure if you were looking for ideas, in particular in the money making department. But since you mentioned in this video that you appreciated some of the suggestions, figured I'd go ahead with what came to mind watching the last video. Basically, it sounds like you're at a point at which you've given up on youtube being a solid source of income. My idea might not be what you're interested in at this time, but thought I'd throw it out there anyway. In short, it's to travel somewhere that's very cheap, such as India or Nepal and give it a try making regular videos and see if your views increase significantly, which I bet they would. I travel pretty constantly, but it's when I go somewhere especially cheap that I'm able to not just cover travel costs, but actually save a lot of money. I know you've been to India but maybe not recently and not sure where you went. As I'm sure you know, you can travel there for $20-50 a day. On my last trip there I made way more than that from the videos and after just six weeks I'd saved thousands of dollars after covering travel costs. Of course, that requires dealing with the intensity of that part of the world. But if you go somewhere like Rishikesh, Pushkar, Manali, Hampi, Gokarna then they're a lot more peaceful than the cities. And Rishikesh in particular has all the spiritual things going on that you would appreciate. Point being, I think you could jump start your channel if you really wanted to, but it would probably require creating different content. If you decided you were in the mood for a big adventure then it could be worth a try, hop a flight to India and see if things take off there. If not then not too much lost, it's always a worthwhile experience exploring that country. I've been going for twenty-five years now and never run out of new places to visit. Best case scenario your views jump a lot, you make more than the trip costs and then something on top of that, which I bet would be the case. I'm not getting a lot of views on my channel, but it's still paying quite well. One problem with that plan is it's going into the hot season now. But the Himalayas are a great place to be at this time. Just an idea, main point is I think you could still make money on youtube but would probably require a different approach since your channel was originally based on adventure. If you were up for traveling at some point then you might find you get a lot of your viewers back. Regardless I get the fact you're more focused on inner work right now so international travel may not be your thing. But if you were in the mood for it, could be a worthwhile experiment to see if youtube can still be a money-making venture. Either way, best of luck with everything.
I got into videography through being inspired by creators like yourself, and now I do it for a living.. would you ever consider going for it in the professional photo/video world? You deffffinitely have the skills, and its not a bad way to make a living
I know you speak a lot about mental health and your experience with that. Have you thought about sharing some physical health stories too? I would watch a series of your training kayaking or running or lifting
Make the clock face of Big Ben into a camera lens art, gives me the impression that you stand out amongst the crowd in the UK (the height of Big Ben standing there alone) and then not to mention you being Ben and the clock being named Ben, it’s also easily recognizable to foreigners, and gives the impression with the camera lens replacing the clock face that you’re looking out over the entire UK for creativity and ideas to make new content and videos through that looking glass, could put some of the flowers around the base and maybe throughout the clock tower to tie in your past work, and put Cape Town behind the clock on the left side and the UK behind the clock on the right side, symbolizing your past and future and present being the clock tower? I can see it in my head but hopefully I’m describing it well enough
Hi Ben! I'm moving into a new apartment soon and have been looking for great prints to hang - I'd love buying your prints (especially any landscape/nature prints would be lovely!)
Hiii, i’d totally buy one of your prints! I remember years ago being young and thinking i’d love that for my future house one day :)! Yew Especially the cape town beach ones. Or anything beachy/surfy x
Ok I’ve been hesitant about commenting. I followed you back in the day. So from watching video this evening my thoughts are as follows. Your talents lie in photography art and video. You’ve been very successful with it in the past you could be successful with it in the future. The comments I’ve read have mostly said “I’d love this print or that print. Merch is great but you’ve said money is tight and that may require a preliminary investment. Maybe build up some cash first. The idea of online photography classes sharing your talent would also be great. Just some thoughts from an old subscriber. Cheers.
Hey Ben :) cool to see you back in UK, u must be missing CT though ❤how have you been holding it down in Cape Town money wise for years? I’ve heard it’s spenny! Would you recommend living out there, or is it too expensive ?
Hey! Thanks, yes I miss Cape Town for many reasons, mainly my friends are all there! TBH Cape Town is very inexpensive compared the UK, I've been earning £ and spending Rands, which is a great exchange rate. The coaching business was for a while making me just enough to get by, and I had to borrow some money, now it seems like I'm back in my financial flow, lot's of people are buying art and I feel I've been redirected towards that path :) I would 100% recommend Cape Town life, if you're making £ or $ or Euros it's a win :)
Can you make a: work smart be kind to people & try not to get lost or killed… In small writting on a Tee like the brand “pangaia” ❤ but with your own unique vibe hehe
It feels like 2012 with the frequent uploads! Loving it, keep them coming...
One thing I read that changed my perspective recently is that true gratitude isn't just for the good things. It's also for our struggles, because without them, we cannot grow.
Been watching since the travel days with Louis and Steve loving seeing you back and focused ❤️

Would love a shirt that says work smart, be kind to people and try not to get lost or killed! That saying is iconic! Also def interested in prints.
I’ve got a couple of your photos on the wall atm, love them! 😁

I’m curious to know if maybe you considered looking into co-dependency and how it affects us. Sending you light & love ❤
Happy transformation! ✨🪷✨
Better yet, I've been experiencing co-dependency first hand! It's wild, and painful, and something I thought I'd worked on... apparently it's an ongoing process. Thanks :)

Sending lots of love and a big hug!

Your daily vlogs always put a smile on my face, thank you so much for creating these for us Ben!
Love the frequent uploads. A good penny boarding vlog may be needed, OG subscribers like myself would love that haha. All the best!
Loving the vlogs again. Uhhhh it's like a throwback haha. Also the content resonates with me alot lately so it's nice feeling like I'm not the only one going through this. Much love mate 🩷

Bloody Adobe subscription is a nightmare to cancel, you usually have to pay a huge cancellation fee too. You need to log in on a desktop to cancel
You're finally back! 🎉😊
Great vlog like in the good old days!

I'm happy you're back. I'll watch anything you post 💖 Oh, yes, it's super important to be grateful for our parents being alive ✨

Let me know if I have missed a video or something but - what exactly is the reason you are in this situation ?
failure is acctualy winning 🙂

The coaching business was for a while making me just enough to get by, and I had to borrow some money, now it seems like I'm back in my financial flow, lot's of people are buying art and I feel I've been redirected towards that path :)
I would 100% recommend Cape Town life, if you're making £ or $ or Euros it's a win :)
