if I told my friends that I had won the lottery and their reaction was upgrading their rooms and ordering champagne I 100% wouldn't turn up and would go and do my own thing instead. Nothing but respect for the older guy, 100% deserved every penny.

I won £100 on a £2 scratch card while i was in work and i was freaking out at the desk . I shouldnt have been allowed to buy it as i was working security and cant buy stuff until my break, only reason i bought it was because there was bread reduced at the front and i wanted a loaf before it was gone

I went to school in crewe and kevin Jones's wife was a teacher there. She helped me out with a lot of things and I see them now and then in my local town. Nothing has changed about them. They still smile at everyone, still shop local aswell. Pretty sure the wife of kevin still works at the school.
He didnt quite his job of being a bus driver as he still felt like he had to do his job and not let everyone down. He also gave every passenger a free lucky dip lottery ticket for a week.
No one nicer could of won that money they deserved it.

The older gentleman sounds like he’s lived his life really well since winning the money. The younger man seemed to have spent his money on all the wrong things in the beginning but it was good to hear that he has made money back again and paid off debts for his family. Hearing the older man say that the money gave him time is a great thing, that’s what it’s all about - not the fancy things more the freedom.

He says he bought a house too? 500k and a house is a serious percentage of his winnings. If you're in America and win most states wont let you. They require you to go public so ppl won't think the lottery is a scam. If every week they told you someone won but didnt say who then ppl would start thinking it's a government money racket.

If they forced me to go public I would but I would save any emails, record phone calls and literally give it to news outlets. Even if that meant my prize is void, it would save future winners from being forced into doing something they don't wanna do.

I found a $20 note when I was about 8 years old. Pretty much felt like winning the lottery. Spent it all on junk food for me and my friends.

A bloke I know called Mark won just under £6million on the lottery about 25 years ago and brought a small hardware store in a village near-by and to this day still runs it.

Divide a mil by a decent livable wage , you'll end up with like 20-28 years you wouldn't have to work.

Yea but what about people who don't have family/good relationships with family or not many friends? That and all my mates work fill time and are busy with their own lives, they wouldn't want me hanging around them all the time just because I no longer had to work. Money is great but nothing in the world, money included, can guarantee happiness. Money cannot shield you from all the normal pains, sorrows and tragedies of life. I think that is the mistake that people make-thinking that excess money can offer a utopia when in actual fact, life isn't like that for anybody. If so why are so many of the rich and famous addicts/battled depression etc? Don't get me wrong, I'd love to be rich as much as the next person and it would improve aspects of my life yet I'm still not naive enough to think life would be perfection and flawless just because of money and I'd feel like I was high on happiness 24/7.That's really not how it works. My neighbour was worth tens of millions (around 40) that he inherited yet had dreadful struggles with drink,overeating,depression and demons all through his life and was used left,right and centre for his money by vulchers. He was never a happy man and his family all fell out over the inheritance which caused him great pain. Today in his 70s he lives alone.
Not everyone wins the lottery mate. Most people with money spend less time with their families as they are harder workers than the average joe.

A lot of you don’t understand that the goal is not to triple your Winning by investment, the goal is to find peace and not go broke again. The young guy didn’t fail, yes he waisted a lot of money but that was to expect but the fact that he’s not broke is a victory itself. The old guy is a gem, he had a long humble life to earn wisdom before winning and to realize the hidden value of the money. The simple fact that he was able to work as a bus driver after being an engineer without bitterness or anger is the sign he’s a real one. Wish them both the best

You can say money doesn’t buy happiness but the younger fella literally said he could sell his happiness and he hasn’t had a sad day since he won. Money doesn’t buy happiness but it can often solve all of the problems that are making you unhappy. Most people’s stress in life is financial.

In defence, the older guy did blow some money on a Jag too. They both blew money on bs stuff. But luckily, they both figured out that if they kept on that path, they'd be right back to square one in no time. 70% of windfall lottery winners are bankrupt within 3-5 years. It's because being rich has a different mindset. We've all heard about those cheap miserly millionaires that look for a deal on everything. It's because they are used to making money work for them instead of disappearing. That $1000 they could spend on an X would actually turn into say $1500 if they invested well. So they see that X as a $1500 loss rather than the $1000 on the price tag. If more poor and middle class people took this mindset, they'd be way better off. And we've seen just that happen with a lot of rags to riches success stories.
But ya, learn about money and how it works and how it can work for you. If you're just spending it on crap that isn't making you money, you're never going to get ahead. And don't just put it into Savings. With inflation, you are losing money daily if it's just sitting in a savings account. Take some time to learn to invest, even if it's a small amount each month. It all adds up.

Wow. This is fascinating; thank you very much for producing this! I'm also a lottery winner and it's so novel and special to meet others who have won! I won the Powerball in 1999 before going back to college to study film and journalism. I'm now combining my experience with my desire to meet and interview other winners and people who have come into sudden wealth and fame on my channel. It's really rare to win the lottery, but it does happen!
I'd be so thankful to win, man, so wild and crazy.

Always take your time with your lottery tickets!!! I always check my tickets at least twice but usually more than that. I won the lottery and did call into work and quit a job I despised but I did it in a friendly way. That was a bit of luck because when I got off the phone and checked my ticket again(2nd time) I realized I was checking an old drawing date. Turns out I didn't even match 1 number so I went back to work and the other employees did have a good laugh but the manager hired me back.
I love this! Their happiness radiates and I love how they're still very humble!

I would be happy as fuck if 50 Cent passed me a bottle of vodka while several other celebrities were also at the same place. To me, that shows that he was a commoner; a track suit in the UK is worn by no snob in the UK, and he says that he had a £20,000 debt. To go from that, to paying £15,000 for a table somewhere and being passed a bottle of vodka by 50 Cent? Yeah, nah. That’s when I could happily say I’ve made it in life. It may not be a lot of money, but I for one could never see 50 Cent giving me anything, nor even think of spending £15,000 on a table at a fancy place. Even if I was rich I would think that’s a bit fucking much.

We got people in Finland who have just returned to their normal life after the win its kind of a normal thing here, we just had a case where the winner waited for 11 months before collecting his winnings (like over 10 million euros) because he was "busy"
He probably just didn't want to interact with another human to claim the winnings.

I like to think I'm a generous person, if I came into a large sum of money I'd 100% treat my friends and family. However if said friends or family upgraded themselves or bought something just on the news of my fortune and expected me to foot the bill I'd tell them exactly where to go.
The older guy here is brilliant though, the money has bought him time to enjoy his family. That's all people really need.

The amount of commenters here who missed or ignored the part where the young dude said that he settled down and is now worth more than what he won is too damn high. Also, he's lucky to be worth more because a quick Google search shows that he did some crazy shit for a few years after he won.

I love these stories ❤. I want to hear about some of the good side of winning the lottery not just all those warning stories. When I think about winning i get caught up thinking about the material stuff I'd buy, but It's Time, Time and freedom is what you're winning. I'd probably get a financial adviser and hope they are good at their job and trustworthy.
1M isnt that much if you stop working. Just with living that money would be burned in like 10 years max - but maybe I'm biased cause I live in Switzerland and living is expensive here
Invested, 1M is enough for a modest house and to retire with a middle class income with no work from ROI, and I don't live in a cheap place, although, probably not as expensive as Switzerland.
You can live in some decent yet cheap places for like ~500 a month (not where I live, but, we're talking from different countries so you get my gist)

This kids gonna go broke. If you dont have an income and are just spending constantly, that money will be gone mad quick. Basically if youre not working and just spending willy nilly it wouldnt take long at all. I know a person who won 100k on a scratcher in Florida. He was into drugs at the time and spent half of it in 6 months. The other half was in a CD and he took that and skipped town - which was probably a good idea. I work at an FBO with private planes and jets. Those are actual rich people who make millions a year. They are cheap as hell and dont spend anything they dont need to.
Av returns of stock market are 7% a year, way more last few years. been a coupld 25% plus years. compound interest is powerful.

Everyone out here saying the young guy is a knob. You give me the impression of jealousy, he's young living a boring life, and he comes into a decent amount of money. He enjoys it, fine may have blew through some but that is almost expected.

The sad thing is they’re not even judging the book by the cover. It’s plastered all over the comment section that he owns a dealership and he said himself he is worth more now. They’re bound to have seen it before they wrote their comments. The truth is society nowadays hates young success. The people making these comments will either be middle aged people bitter because someone younger than them is more successful, or other young people that are simply jealous.
Thanks for providing more info about him. However, people aren't "judging a book by its cover." They're literally reacting to his very in -depth sharing about what he's done with his (not very much) money and it sounds vapid.
@@Dayvit78 funny thing is most of the people commenting negatively probably don't even have 1% of either of these two guys wealth and yet are judging the 31yo 99% of these people would blow the money a lot faster. This is the importance of educating ourselves on investing, finances and taxes so that when we get decent amounts of money for the first time we can immediately increase the wealth
