So tell us: how many many of the 10 types of insurance that we talk about in the video do you have? Are there any that you've decided not to get? ---Joseph & Tasha
One Big Happy Life I have 6 of the main 7. I don't have identity theft insurance or any of the other 3 types. I have purchased travel insurance if I was making a specific trip, but I just don't have anything on the horizon right now.
You guys are so relatable and make things very simple. Can you please do a video to make life insurance more understandable. Please:)
My husband is a freelance insurance agent and it is so sad that people will buy everything but insurance. Thank you for this video.
I think people just don't realize how important it is, or that they hope it will never happen to them. The other thing is that no one talks about just how important insurance is. We're glad to add to the conversation.--Tasha
This is so true!!!
You Make video about insurance while I’m in the middle of making insurance calls lol. It sounds super boring but with the right environment it doesn’t even feel like I’m working with insurance, feels more like I’m just working with people!
You know, we were going to do a different video today. You must have been sending us insurance vibes!--Tasha
4 of 10. Health, home, auto and dental. I’ve considered a couple of the others and determined that they’re not necessary for my situation. Also, for the auto, I carry liability only. In my state, 100/300k is the minimum.
Thank you for this! Just updated my benefits because of this video! I have a few more to get but this was very helpful!
That's awesome! So glad the video helped you.--Tasha
Can you please do a video that focuses on life insurance? Love you guys!
Gloria Soto just remember that the main reason for life insurance is to replace the income of the decedent.
I'm 23 and I have health insurance and dental, I get travel insurance the few times I've gotten to travel. When I graduate from school in 2020 I want to take my extra disposable income and start focusing on life insurance, identity theft insurance (that Equifax breach was scary), and I'll definitely have car insurance.sSs Fortunately, in CT all registered vehicles are required to have insurance.
We only have 4....house, car, medical, dental. There may be some very limited life insurance through our jobs, but we are so behind! Thanks for the reminder to get our rears in gear, great video!
Car insurance almost deserves its own video. I know a person who got into an at fault accident without it. They ended up with a judgement against them that caused massive financial hardship to them and their family.
You guys are awesome by the way, a much needed corrective to the louder and bombastic approaches out there.
Thank you!--Tasha
Great video. We have life, health, renters, auto, ID their, and not sure about any thing else
The two of you are so helpful and informative! I did not know about identity theft insurance or the umbrella policy, I will definitely look into that. Thanks and God bless!
We have 7 of the 10 including umbrella and identity theft insurance. Great video.
Very elaborative.
I only have car insurance. But my question is what insurances are absolutely needed? Since im 23 with an already tight budget
Anything required by law and health insurance are going to be the most important. You need to stay healthy and then worry about the others like dental and then homeowners/renters next. - Joseph
CurlyMisha - as a former auto and home insurance agent (p&c) you really need to get a renters insurance policy- even if you have roommates. Don’t start off on the wrong foot and possibly lose all of your worldly belongings to a fire or natural disaster and have nothing. Just think of how much the outfit you have on at this moment costs you. Add up your entire wardrobe, bed, bedding, and and any other furniture you own and what it will cost you to replace it. Don’t sell yourself short and as a female to female make yourself a victim. You can get renters insurance for a small amount a month- usually under or around $20. Accidents happen and they can happen to anyone. Be in control and protect what’s yours. ❤️ from Ohio
CurlyMisha,
Please take this advice, sweetie! As an older woman (I'm 54), I didn't get things straighten out until I was 40. We weren't thinking ahead in the 80's. You expect to always have a job to pay your bills. Not really taught to have a career. But I was fortunate because it has always been just me. NO CHILDREN! (I like them, it just wasn't meant to be.) I have a friend who has 5 children, the last one just graduated. My friend is way behind on those thing now. So she will struggle for a few more years.
Take care and look out for yourself! Make sure you know who you are and what you want. Regarding the rent's insurance definitely look into it. $20 is cheap considering a night out at the movies will cost more than that! I'm just saying!
I HATE car insurance !!! Every time (which is once ) in a car accident Gieco acts like I should be punished for even being hit. When in a minor accident is it best to go through your insurance or call a lawyer?
I have all the insurances except dental. My husband and I 'compromised' to pay any extra costs with our savings. In other words I wanted it and he didn't. We were advised to make sure to get LTC by age 50. What are your thoughts on 50 versus 59"
Your videos are so helpful! I honestly did not know about long-term care insurance. Definitely looking into that one!
When I got into my car accident. I was sued for $1.2 mil. Who has that kind of money? Interestingly enough, they took the insurance maximum which was only $30k.
You got extremely lucky. Had a customer once her friend was living with she decided to paint her room and fell off the ladder she sued her friend and the policy limit was 500k they paid out the 500k but the customer had to continue paying for the settled amount of 1.5m. It's crazy!
I have had it for along as worked..I Still have it ..It was offered at every Open Enrollment ..Do u have Open Enrollment at ur Jobs?
Thanks..Tasha for all ur information..Love y'all..
Thanks for this. We currently only have car and life insurance! I live in NZ where all medical services are free. I am sure we should get disability insurance.
I have only house, car and extended health insurance ,basic health insurance is cover by the Government of Canada.Thats 3 out of10.I have been contemplating on the life insurance its next on the list for me
Thanks for the thorough run down on insurances. I have about 5 of these insurances. One thing that you forgot to mention on long term disability is qualifying for Medicare/ Medicaid depending on your state and ability to continuing working. That can figure in and assist with continued medical costs.
Hadassah Holl,
Medicare/Medicaid doesn't get talked about until 62 or a disability kicks in. For me it was a disability in 2015 at age 52. I live in TX, but I didn't understand how it worked. I wasn't eligible for Medicare/Medicaid for 2 years! So, I signed up for the Affordable Care Act (Obamacare). It covered me completely. ALL my doctors visits. I had to pay extra for dental care that was $20.30 a month and $300 for 3 sleep studies for a CPAP machine.
Last fall 2017, Medicare/Medicaid finally kicked in. But I didn't understand how it worked still. So I finally called United Healthcare. They sent an agent out to help me better understand Medicare/Medicaid. Every state is different!
'
@rantybaby Yeah, medicaid/medicare system is tough to navigate and pretty confusing. It took us at least 2 years to get it set up for our Dad, who was disabled. My point was more that it's an option to be explored in several situations. Sorry to hear that you had such a rough time exploring the medicare/medicaid option.
Hadassah Holl,
What bugged me was the original 2 yr wait for it. Then understanding Medicare was the federal side AND Medicaid was the TX portion. That how I have to think of it now. But any problems between them, I've got advocates to help me navigate the system now.
A very informative video. I really don't think the majority of people understand how important it is to have travelers insurance. I have watched those horror stories on Netflix about Americans traveling abroad who did not have adequate insurance.
Yes, I'd rather pay a few extra hundred dollars to know that if something happens in another country, I'm covered.--Tasha
Thanks for your videos! I'm curious, how much in total does your family pay in insurance per year (for everything)? What is that as a proportion of total family income?
We pay approximately $10000 a year for everything (including coverage for our kids where applicable). Half of that is just health insurance. We pay less than 4% of our total income for insurance.--Tasha
One Big Happy Life thank you! I find it so hard to pay insurance, i feel like it's lost money, i get why you need it but it hurts to pay!
I learned an important lesson when Someone broke into my car and stole my work bag. Annoyingly, it is not covered by car insurance but by home insurance. But my deductible was too high to cover it.
I've been there too. When I was younger my car was broken into and they stole a few CDs and the liner to a 3 in 1 jacket. The deductible was way higher than the jacket was worth. I still have the other part of the jacket that I've been using for 15 years. I still wish I had the liner every time I put it on. lol. - Joseph
U say..few hundred dollars..I have a good vision plan..that's pays 85% of my eyeglasses which is ..over 950 a year..due to my ..progressive lens..bifocals..scratch resistance..and transition lens..it sure comes in handy..lol..thanks for video....
Generally glasses don't cost as much as yours do (and you have a number of aesthetic upgrades on your glasses). And typically you don't need a new pair of glasses every year. So as far as necessary insurance goes, vision insurance doesn't make our list of must-haves. But that doesn't mean that it's not worth getting if it will save you money in the long run.--Tasha
We have 8 out of 10. What a great informative video...keep up the good work !
Good device
A big thanks to Africa billionaire on TH-cam for introducing me to mutual benefit assurance plc, I was able to build a house and bought a car with one of their policy, am so happy.
What about pet and flood
I have 8 of those insurances...no long term care and no umbrella policy.
Good for you. We only recently got our umbrella policy. -Joseph
i love it
What kind of lawyers are you guys?
I love your videos. I have four
I’m 22 and I have all but long term care 😁
Everything except umbrella.
No car insurance in NH..... Not even Liability....
U didn't mention vision insurance Tasha...lol
That's because we don't generally see it as necessary. Eye exams aren't that expensive and glasses and contacts typically only cost a few hundred a year. The other types of insurance we mentioned are meant to save you thousands and hundreds of thousands of dollars.--Tasha
Also if you have medical insurance that will typically cover a yearly eye exam with an OPHTHALMOLOGIST (medical doctor for the eyes)...not Optometrist. Vision insurance can be fairly cheap if offered through an employer that covers eye exams with an optometrist and contacts or glasses/frames. But I don’t feel like it is a necessity like some of the others. It’s definitely a personal choice!
MsStacey717 what eye insurance u have..? Have u heard of co-payment or co-insurance lol
MsStacey717 I have the same thing through my former employers insurance with is South Carolina State Health Plan/ Blue Cross Blue shield..plus EyeMed..with pays up 85% of my eyeglasses and frames..I have preventive eye coverage..I was just asking why it wasn't in the top 10 that's all..Thank u for all ur information...
bernice smalls I know I felt like I wrote a book...sorry! I have BCBS as well 😊
I only have health insurance and car insurance lol
Dental insurance is an absolute waste of money. All you will typically get are two prophylaxis cleanings a year. Anything else is NOT COVERED. Get a good Aetna dental discount plan instead, and it runs about $99.00 for a whole year.
This is not true at all. The coverage varies by insurance policy. Our insurance has covered thousands in orthodontics, crowns, dental surgery, fillings, dental impants, etc.--Tasha
Omg I have only car insurance cause it is obligatory hahaha
