Magnus : Gukesh will do poorly.
Gukesh : WINS.
Hell Yeah!!
yeaahhhhb i was going to comment that!!!!!!!!!!!
tight slap
Now it's easy to point a finger and say his prediction failed. But if you think about it, Gukesh is the only one he got wrong. The rest are spot on.
@@fus10n91 what about aliraza? he did poorly
@@fus10n91 Alireza too... Bad time...
Imagine being Nepo winning the candidates twice in a row and still getting made fun of lmao
Yeah, it's because he literally conserves all his mana to cast his ultimate during candidates but by the time he comes to WCC match his mana is enough to cast only 1-2 simple spells and then he has 0. Then the cycle restarts, he conserves mana doing nothing until the next candidates. Then loses WCC match not being able to cast his ultimate, yare yare
Cause he's trash; candidats is literally the only tournament where he's semi decent. This rat hides all he's tactics for the entire season until this one competition
Not only that, he never lost a single game in all three Candidates tournaments. And after ALL (!!) of his 33 games in the Candidates, to this day, he has held the top 1 spot, either alone or sharing it with somebody. His overall performance with white in the Candidates is about 2900. And people still think he's not a favorite 😂😂
He needs to move his stats to his mana and purchase some of the mana potions (3 gold)
It's actually crazy how good Nepo has shown himself to be. Winning such a competitive tournament so consistently is amazing.

having a double bong cloud in the world chess championship would be hilarious. But i think that FIDE would probably be big mad based on how they reacted to that knight dance those other players did

there are more ifs than night jumps :D besides why would carlsen give draw to nakamura? one of the easiest match ups to predict :> magzy - naka is brutally skewed to the point elo does not reflect the outcome accurately

on the other hand - despite being goat - or close to - he is by no means great at predictions - his alireza flop for example
@@s0undf0rm lol
I seriously dislike FIDE so anything that pisses them off is a win in my book. I've also been thinking that if Hikaru actually becomes world champion this year, Magnus may decide to try and challenge Hikaru next year. It would be absolutely amazing!
Wrong with only the winner.. Gukesh D remember the name
4:54 Why do they always leave out Gukesh when they're talking about talented juniors 😳
Because Gukesh has zero to nill online presence. While others are constantly playing online rapid and blitz and gaining fame popularity.
No one likes players (most importantly world champion) who only specialize in classical. Nordirbek and other juniors dominate Gukesh in faster controls.
@@nagumosdilemma8419 Might be true but did you watch yesterdays game against alireza when both were literally playing blitz
@@nagumosdilemma8419 who cares
world champ is decided on the basis of classical
@@Naoki-ge5xppopularity is never going to be a problem for an Indian player. Gukesh has his own way of doing things and doesn't fall in their online circle hence the cold shoulder.
Man gukesh is most underrated, i mean in most of the tournament, he is in top 2-3 and yet people take him so lightly. His rapid and blitz game can definately improve but in classical, i dont think anyone, among the youngesters, can calculate better then him. A slight mistake, with required timd and he will eat u alive. I really dont know why people just cant see, may be they dont watch him rhat often.
Gukesh's wins over pragg (recent times) force me to wonder if psychology has that big of an impact at this level.
true and most people think that gukesh is older than pragg because of his beard
Imo, I think Magnus is in part ranking the juniors lower because of the immense pressure of the tournament that they’re not used to, not because he thinks they’re substantially worse players or don’t have the talent to win. To be fair, that’s shown some this Candidates with the juniors in particular really having time scrambles that have led to losses, and this is the same problem Alireza had last year in the candidates. I think Alireza is an incredibly strong player, but struggles to handle the mental duress on the top stage, and Magnus felt like many of the juniors would have to adjust to the pressure. Even more experienced players like Ding had that problem in the last World Championship. I do think he thinks Fabi and Hikaru are the strongest players in the tournament, but he’s not saying Gukesh or anyone else is weak. I haven’t followed Gukesh much in particular more than others, but I’ve heard he can be swing heavy and is a classical beast but weaker in other formats. I believe Magnus said he was his most difficult match in the World Cup. That being said, I think Gukesh has a great chance to win if he can avoid tiebreaks. I would love to see Fabi win as his chances only get worse from here and I don’t want him to go down in history as the best player to never win a WCC, especially after his psychological decline losing in 2018, but right now it seems like it’s Gukesh’s tournament to win with the remaining schedule. If Fabi can’t win, I’m pulling for him! I also just hope Nepo doesn’t win, not that I don’t like him, but I don’t want to see him crumble again and would rather see someone else get their shot.

This comment aged well.
Anyone here after Gukesh win 👇
Why is gukesh always overshadowed by pragg? Both are exceptional and for that reason I tend to root for gukesh over pragg
Along with achievement of being finalist of wcc
Also stability of prag has been quite phenomenal over any other current Indian player
Praggs knowledge of chess theory far exceeds gukesh and he's a far more stable player. Gukesh has often had spells where he does really poorly whereas pragg although he can have a bad day here and there, it never persists for long. This is clear even if you just look at their journey once they both hit 2700. Gukesh has been erratic, falling rlly low at times and then back up whereas pragg has been slowly but very steadily climbing up with barely any significant drops. Pragg also has a very fearless mentality remaining calm under high pressure situations against the very top players. Ofcourse you can argue this candidates gukesh has been on par with pragg but you need to consider who's been more consistent in terms of past history as well.
pragg is waay more solid especially in his openings
I feel gukesh is better than Pragg from whatever I’ve seen but who can question the goat maybe he hasn’t seen gukesh that much

This aged like milk.
When was this recorded? Hikaru putting himself on top over Ian is kinda strange. Also Magnus roasting Nepo so bad doesn't seem right, Nepo won two consecutive Candidates and first half of the World Championship Match was extremaly equal with maybe just a tiny slight edge for Ian. He started collapsing after painful loss.
The Magnus video was definitely pre-candidates, because I saw it. I have no idea when this was recorded though. Hikaru may have been holding on to it to see if he did okay in the first half before releasing it.
Magnus vid was before it started
@@YHWHsam I'm aware, I was asking about Hikaru's predictions specificaly, just didn't clarify it.
The predictions Hikaru gave are not "actual" predictions, but rather predictions of what Magnus will predict. The Magnus video was obviously recorded pre-candidates, probably same with this video.
Magnus acknowledged Ian winning both Candidates, but said that is literally all he did in the last few years with anything else being a wash.

latest update - likely to win - Gukesh/Nepo. Top Contenders - Prag, Hikaru. Will do well - Caruana, Vidit. Will do poorly - alireza, in for a bad time - abasov

biggest surprise for magnus is that gukesh is at top 1 in round 13
Rooting for Gukesh, last loss against Alireza would definitely needed so that he can perform outstanding in other half of the tournament

There's still 7 more Rounds, you're talking as if there's only 2 Rounds remaining. Anything can happen, yet
Also Alireza😅
We will see their 100% game play in the second half for sure. Most of the candidates always trying to draw the first half just to find out what kind of preparation their opponents have. So that they can counter it on the second half. For sure, next half will be more exciting 😊
