Greetings from Sydney, Australia. Awesome vids, keep up the fantastic work. I am 64 and only started cycling 3 yrs ago to improve my health & fitness. Now i do about 200+ kilomtres per week. I'm not great on hills but i try to not let any hill beat me. Your videos inspire to do better. 💜THANKYOU💜
Well done! 👏 looked on strava and you beat my time by 9 seconds and also beat some pretty strong blokes I know who get KOMs all the time on popular climbs. Excellent work
I just did this today on a Gravel Bike with a 25 out back on a compact. I ruined me but I did get to the top without stopping. Not done a 100k ride in years so not the best of ideas today. I only was going into town for a coffee as well. Turned into a 130km epic with lots of jelly babies. Keep up the good work!
Love the channel Katie. I grew up less than 10km from there. Now in my 50ies, and living in New Zealand. Watching that made me want to take my wife there, and show her some of the stunning rides in the lake district!
Thanks Katie, I live in stalybridge not to far from Greenfield/Isle of skye road into Holmfirth. I did this little loop two years ago, just back on the bike after three months off. A couple of months more and will try again, thanks for the inspiration. Keep the vids coming they are brilliant, stay safe.
Well done Katie. Such a beautiful climb and great to see how far you've come as a rider. Superb video and commentary. I really enjoyed this one. Bravo! I am really glad to hear you're open to putting your heart rate data up. I know you train to power (as do I), but seeing heart rate when up these climbs is very interesting so thanks for doing that. My suggestion for a climb is Draycott Steep in Somerset. It's not far from Cheddar. Strava segment number 659038.
Katie I'm lovin these rides! Can't explain what a thrill it is to watch you take on these climbs and do it so well. I would give anything to live in the UK and have roads, the scenery and circuits like Holme Moss and Winnats Pass...and would be even better to ride them with you. Your riding form and muscle tone looks excellent. I have watched the Winnats Pass video at least twice. The commentary really adds to the video.
Winnats pass is so steep and I tried it a few times and was having another go at it, I watched Katie’s video and it helped me achieve it. I was so chuffed, it’s a gorgeous climb and part of the peaks and photos don’t do it justice. Hope you get to try it one day.
Got to go do this climb again soon. Your climb video of Mow Cop helped me out and now im analyzing this even though ive done it before. Such a good challenge of a climb
Wonderful, remember Nicole Cooke riding the Cat & Fiddle once on the Rourke ride held every year, she passed dozens of Male riders! Love to see you ride that climb Katie, take care and stay safe...
Katie - Love the videos. Can you look at doing the Double Trouble Segment on the Moss as it's a great challenge. Holmbridge up over the moss summit, down to the junction by woodhead reservoir then turn around and back up/over finishing back at Holmbridge. 😁
I love watching these rides, keep them coming. I have a climb a few kilometers from my house with a very steep bit at the end. The first time I did it, I had to walk that last bit. The climb took me about 33 minutes. Two weeks later I went up it again, determined to get up without walking and hopefully be a bit faster. I managed to do both and got up the hill in 26 minutes! I didn't expect to beat my PB by 6 minutes. Started cycling again (after 10 years hiatus) in May of this year and have slowly been progessing my fitness level using Strava and Zwift. Both are great tools to help me get fitter but your stories inspire me that it will get better over time.
I love your climbing videos! I’m working hard to get better and love hills- but right now I still hate them & suck! Watching this is definitely motivation.
I enjoy watching your videos,I live south manchester so either travel west for Cheshire plain or east up the hills behind Macclesfield I just enjoy the scenery take loads of photos,I enjoy the canal rides too so peaceful no cars, this area has something for everyone in the cycling world,we are lucky. I admire your enthusiasm to share what you do. For the record I’m near the bottom of hill climbs on strava, I’m not worried about that, it’s how I’m improving every time I attempt a climb and I feel fitter,I’m 57.
Great effort Katie! Having climbed Joux Plane with you last summer, I was immensely impressed by your power on such a long, steep ascent...especially on such a hot day too (~30°c). And can confirm to any doubters your numbers are real. Love watching your vids that encourage the discovery of challenging new climbs.
Great climbing katie i know you run a 40 0n the back do you have a compact on the front so would you go up there in the big ring on the front and 40 on the back, as you said further down you did it in 54-40 ?
Loving your videos, Im riding this on Sunday and Winnets, I feel like I’ve had a poor few months training and don’t know wether to swap my 11/30 cassette for a 32 or 34 or just try and gun it but risk the rest of the sportive -
Living in West Cumbria there's no shortage of hills to climb, I would recommend Birker Fell from the Eskdale side, then add Bobbin Mill Hill before finishing with Corney Fell. Stunning climbs with super steep sections for the lovers of hills.
Birker is my fav climb in the Lakes, the entry to the start of the climb and seeing it bend off up and to the right gets me every time, its just beautiful and such an awesome climb to ride, stunning scenery too. Blea Tarn aswell is up there, just beautiful in all directions.
Great effort Katie, my favourite local climb :-) I ride it regularly and that definitely seemed a busier than usual day for traffic. I remember riding it the following evening after the TdF went up, with all the paint over the road and not a soul about, eerily brilliant. Also, love the climb past Dove Stone heading over to Holmfirth (the Isle of Skye road), that's another cracking climb.
very nice effort. i gave it a bash today. got 10.51 @328w. but i weigh 77kg. my route then sent me over ewden bank and back (u turn), then up pearoyd lane, then jackson bridge. great area for smooth tarmac and climbs. thanks for the vid.
Well done Katie, I've done that climb a few times and you would have passed me for certain... and disappeared in to the distance. Have you done butter tubs yet?
Looking good. I always like looking at your stats Katie. I've got a list of hills on quieter roads in the Nidderdale area. I've got a loop that I did over a week back. Dacre, Darley, Birstwith, Summerbridge up to Brimham Rocks. Pateley Bridge and Bewerley have a few steep climbs and nice views over quiet landscape.
Absolutely smashed it katie really well done. My number 1 favourite climb, and the descent on the other side is faaaaast. Peace out heywood neighbour 👍👍👍

Excellent climb. Don't worry about others opinion about the strength of your ride. You are obviously in great shape so it is absolutely normal to be strong and fast on the climb. Just go forward and don't look back on those envious guys.
Great video, keep them coming! love the tip about the explore local segments, I tend to look at what loops the faster riders in my area do to try and get ideas of where is best to go.
Ah Katie, I remember doing this many years ago. It's absolutely stunning. From there my adventure continued to Snake Pass. That was a great day in the saddle. Sadly the Pennines are not on my door step, so it's lovely to see you riding up these iconic climbs. If you're ever in the South West, you could try an effort up Burrington Coombe, near Blagdon. It's 2.4 miles long and not too steep, with a few little kicks here and there.
Great effort 😎👍... not done this climb for a good few years .... must revisit... back in the day (1990's) used watch the pros race up it ...Leeds international classic
Brilliant video, Katie. Any chance you could add to the narration when you change gears? Obviously as the grade decreased near the top you would be up shifting. But during the steeper sections are you remaining in one gear? Are you on a true road bike or your CGR Ti? Also during a climb such as this, which burns the most? Your lungs or your legs? Cheers from 🇨🇦
I'm getting better at climbs, I'm new and heavy but doing my best. Still 16 and a half stone now down from 21, the more I lose the fast I get up hills. Its very rewarding when noticing the difference.
People will always try to bring someone down who's achieved something they can't - You've inspired me to try more hills this year! Also, if you take requests, have you had a go at Thwaites brow in Keighley? I can thoroughly recommend that one.
The best day had on Holm moss was when the Wincanton Classic was there, they went up twice. Saw some great riders My favourite Claudio Chiappucci.........you would have loved it........Mo..............
Don't bother with all those negative comments! We love to watch you ride, and there's nothing wrong with filming yourself and why on earth would you even think that the watts are fake..? Good going!
I'm relatively new to watching your videos - they're very good. Maybe you've already climbed this - would you like to try Tornapress (Loch Kishorn) to Applecross, in Northwest Scotland?? I've heard that it is one of the only roads in the UK, that comes close to an Alpine climb. However, as you are based in the Manchester area, travelling to the real Alps is probably less hassle. Please let me know what you think
Enjoying your climbs - just watched this and Winnats pass. A suggestion, probably not too far from where you live - Norwood Hill Climb north of Otley( the B6451). That's my test climb (I live in Leeds) - it nearly kills me every time. I fancy Holme Moss, which I've never done (not Winnats tho!)
The start of the climb is actually before the village of Holme then it flattens out then starts again for the main part. Am 47 now and did it in my late teens from Sheffield and done it more recently.
I've had to walk it twice. First time I was loaded up on a tourer. Second time, I had my 5 year old son on a kiddie back tandem. So both times I new I wouldn't manage it, no not really a proper attempt. Got to attempt it with some respect 😂
Have you done church lane at Hebden Bridge ? its in the top 100 and an absolute beast of a climb! I done this climb last week and the wind was incredible took my breath away but was a head wind all the way up
It’s horrible! Would love to see you tackle it Katie! A woman told me last time I done it that it’s part of 3 other climbs called the 3 bitches. Couldn’t find any info online about them but can imagine it’s right as everywhere up Hebden is uphill
Great time up there. Two of the countries best hills not far from the North West try Great Dunn Fell near Appleby yorks And Hardnott pass in the lakes. If you can do Hardnott you can do anything. Both stunning rides with outstanding views.
@@KatieKookaburra I have to confes to pushing up Hardnott, the only hill to defeat me. My excuse a 32 on the back & 100 miles in the legs. Even with a 34 it will be a challenge.
Excellent!! Your riding so much lately that you can only get better and better! I found with cycling that keeping the body weight down where it SHOULD be, then training hard AT that weight is key!!!! To reach that point is bliss!! :-) :-)
I love these videos. And hell yeah to cycling girl power!! 😊🚴🏻♀️ I don’t think they are narcissistic in any way. They are informative and powerful xxx
You could help Ribble sell some electric bikes ! Borrow one from them. I think there is too much ego in cycling , imagine how far you could go in one day with an electric bike !
Look at the line up of Cannondale electric road bikes , they look incredible. I really think this is the future. Rather have one than the Porsche or Austin Heally that passed you on the climb. I just ordered one for fun !
I observed my strava segment I wanted, rode to it and counted how many houses from the nearest corner to know when to start the segment. Point is, you need to start and stay at your goal power and you'll do better.
Looks brilliant thanks for sharing it how do you get the speed/mileage on to the TH-cam video...Plus have you thought about maybe organising a cycling event in the future 😀👍
You should come over to Northern Ireland sometime, I’ll take you on a spin over Torr Head... it’s pretty brutal, it’s about 5 different climbs, over 6 miles or so, hits 18/20% in places... you’ll leave me for dead though!
It's also the case that guys don't like being passed by guys. And that's okay. Passing someone can give the other incentive to ride harder. Also, getting passed can do the same for me! Great effort up that climb!
Well done Katie! Smashed it!💪 I got over taken on Ditchling Beacon not long ago, by a woman wearing sandals and riding a city bike😂 i was at the end of 100km ride but boy do we laugh about it now. Keep up the great work!
What you do just tremendous Katie! Unless you're a pro, there's always someone better and worse than you on Strava. As long as you're enjoying cycling the numbers don't matter at all. Keep safe and cycle on 👍👍🚲
Greetings from Sydney, Australia.

You’re a solid rider and we all know it. No reason to doubt the data, plenty of proof in the pudding.
Ride on!
Thanks Jonni!
Peter, I was thinking of Draycott but thought that would be too cruel 😉
That is a really really NASTY one which I have avoided for many years 😂
it was a great ride. On my videos, heart rate is a vital part of what i show, but maybe that is a running thing?
I've just seen your video from 6 years ago, and comparing this to where you are now. Chapeau to you! 👏👏
THANK YOU xx
Good job Katie... and props to the TI rider for not being insecure about you passing him up...

Exactly it's what it's all about. I was always the last in any ride in my first few years of cycling but loved it anyway :) Enjoy my friend
I’m doing this climb this weekend with Velo 29 events! Been watching your videos to survey the routes! Love em!

Excellent climb. What does the colored pavement represent.

I think the Team Ineos member has disliked this video six times.

That is an awesome effort. Phenomenal power and wpk .
Hi Katie, I’m new on cycling and you videos have helped me so much. Beside cycling do you workout? Thanks

Yeah on the steep stuff just stay in the lower gears. If it levels a tad then I will change gear :)
I really love all of your vids Katie. Thank you so much for all of your hard work on these, it is appreciated. Keep on rolling!
Thanks so much Adam, comments like that defo keep me motivated so thanks :)
excellent job tackling that hill. Love all the data included on the screen. Well done Katie!
Thanks Betsy x
Brilliant video, you’ve inspired me to drive ooop North and ride this climb 😊
Second best to Jackson Bridge. Did you go to the block?
Really enjoy the hill climb videos, always interesting to watch. Plus these are great for getting ideas for a rode trip up to the peaks too, cheers!
I'm getting better at climbs, I'm new and heavy but doing my best.
Still 16 and a half stone now down from 21, the more I lose the fast I get up hills. Its very rewarding when noticing the difference.
I have rode this twice fairly recently, after watching your other videos on the climb.
First time I rode it from the Woodhead Pass direction.
Smashed that climb Katie. Superb effort up there.
Katie, Great job riding !! You picked Great spot to do a training !!!
So good!!!!!!! Keep up the fantastic content Katie! You are soooo appreciated!
Hi, mam I'm thinking to drill bicycle frame to put cables inside of the frame, it will damage anything mam?
People will always try to bring someone down who's achieved something they can't - You've inspired me to try more hills this year! Also, if you take requests, have you had a go at Thwaites brow in Keighley? I can thoroughly recommend that one.
Fantastic power, pace, grace.
As always brilliant video brilliant to watch a climb like this scenery is fantastic
The best day had on Holm moss was when the Wincanton Classic was there, they went up twice. Saw some great riders
My favourite Claudio Chiappucci.........you would have loved it........Mo..............
Yeah that was an epic day.
Well done Katie👍👍💪💪 great effort on one of my favourites climbs 👍👍🚲🚲
Which side did you climb from? Last time I rode Holme Moss I descended down into the little town of Holme.
Don't bother with all those negative comments! We love to watch you ride, and there's nothing wrong with filming yourself and why on earth would you even think that the watts are fake..? Good going!

Brilliant effort... must get myself up there.
Did Brickworks climb out of Bollington a couple of weeks ago - definitely one for the list.
Great effort and well done. Have you tried smoothing out your power reading ?
I have it on 3 second power which is perfect for me 👏🏼
Your awesome Katie, super quick up that climb, I live in the area so I need to do this climb, keep up the great work 🚴😁👍
My favourite in that part of The Peaks. Start from Holmfirth, over the top and then blast down to Woodhead.
That is a banger :)
Cheers!
I.
Proper banger!!!!
You killed it. My cadence drops down above 8% incline it's pretty hard to keep it over 90rpm that steep. You are inspiring.
You go girl! Great effort! I wish I could ride with you one day! :) What's the long sleeve jersey you wear in the video? It looks awesome!
loved it, don't listen to the trolls, be proud of your ability you earned it!
Great effort 👍. Only done this climb once back in Feb. There was a brutal head wind and snow at the top. Still not been back yet 🤣
Great ride Katie, but definitely a shortage of fine looking walls on this one! :)
Awesome. Well done. Have you ever done Hardnott Pass? 30% at one point,
I have attempted it haha. Going back soon though got to be done right?
I've had to walk it twice. First time I was loaded up on a tourer. Second time, I had my 5 year old son on a kiddie back tandem. So both times I new I wouldn't manage it, no not really a proper attempt. Got to attempt it with some respect 😂
Have you done church lane at Hebden Bridge ? its in the top 100 and an absolute beast of a climb!
I done this climb last week and the wind was incredible took my breath away but was a head wind all the way up
I haven’t but that’s one for the list!! :)

Great time up there. Two of the countries best hills not far from the North West try Great Dunn Fell near Appleby yorks And Hardnott pass in the lakes. If you can do Hardnott you can do anything. Both stunning rides with outstanding views.
They are both DEFO on the list! Bloody epic climbs the pair of them haha

Yeah Holme moss is on my doorstep and I’ve cycled it a fair few times, it’s a good test of fitness
Wow Katie, great effort. You’re an inspiration 👍🏼
Katie, have you done buttertubs,? If not give ita go. Well done on this one.

Hi, where to you start your Holme Moss effort? Holmfirth village or further up, somewhere like holmbridge or even Holme itself
The little village :)
Try challacombe in woolacombe. In tour of Britain alot and I hate it but love it. Also shute lane combe Martin. Both quite hard on 39x25 gearing
Simon Warren apps on app store are good gives you 100 climbs of uk, 75 in your region bare scotland gives you 60. £1.99 per region
Yeah I paid for the app :) Great one to find the best climbs.
I love these videos. And hell yeah to cycling girl power!! 😊🚴🏻♀️ I don’t think they are narcissistic in any way. They are informative and powerful xxx

It's also the case that guys don't like being passed by guys. And that's okay. Passing someone can give the other incentive to ride harder. Also, getting passed can do the same for me! Great effort up that climb!
Shibden Wall/Southowram Bank/Trooper Lane, now that’s a nice little challenge.
Also have you considered competing in the hill climb season? You'd do well. I'm not sure if you have already
Nice job ! ! ! Love the videos
Love the videos Katie, you are amazing!
Thanks John!!!
Another great video! We certainly do appreciate the effort - thank you!
Awesome Katie, well done, love the video's, more please.
Well done Katie! Smashed it!💪
I got over taken on Ditchling Beacon not long ago, by a woman wearing sandals and riding a city bike😂 i was at the end of 100km ride but boy do we laugh about it now. Keep up the great work!
Katie which power meter do you use? And how did you get those data in your TH-cam video to show?
Stages power metre and Garmin Virb to edit the data :)
What you do just tremendous Katie! Unless you're a pro, there's always someone better and worse than you on Strava. As long as you're enjoying cycling the numbers don't matter at all. Keep safe and cycle on 👍👍🚲
Thanks Mark, yeah that’s bang on! I love riding hills and if you want to watch them happy to film :) bloody love it! Cheers for the support as always.
The view once you get to the top is unreal ,
One of the best!
