Steve Blum has voiced some legendary characters! Thanks for watching his interview! See Part 2 of his interview Here: th-cam.com/video/H1JZmuMASjc/w-d-xo.html
@@thelastcrow5660 Nothing about his true identity detracts from his previously established character. Knowing he's Yakon's son shows us he's ruthless. Knowing he's a blood bender shows us exactly how dangerous he is. He's still a terrifying character.
W/o Steve Blum voicing Spike...God only knows what would have happened to both Cowboy Bebop & Spike...Doubt the show & character would have had the same sizzle
I doubt the show would have nearly the recognition as a classic and fundamental representation of what makes a great anime in the western world, but I think it was still popular in japan but I wouldn't know. The writing itself along with the animation are pretty great but his voice truly could not be replaced
@@Silver_Paladin not sure how true is this, but I’ve watch some TH-cam documentaries about Cowboy Bebop stating that the show wasn’t popular in Japan at first and once it became a hit in the U.S it also gained popularity there.
When Toonami first went of the air and his sign off was “Bang.” I cried. And I almost cried when he announced they were bringing it back. Steve Blum IS my childhood.
+Rebelliate He voices Scott Mitchell in Ghost Recon... but that's old... he was also going to be Marcus Fenix in Gears of War but they recast and John DiMaggio (Bender from Futurama) got the role instead. He also got Abathur in StarCraft 2... but he was a supporting Zerg research dude... hmmm... not many leading game rolls tbh. To be honest, I hear his voice and Crispin Freeman's voice in a lot of games... and Liam O'Brien. Those are the three most common voices I hear.
I think you're looking for Dirge of Cerberus -- or if you don't like shooting games, he's the voice of the same character in the movie FFVII: Advent Children. It's difficult to get much more badass than him.
Met him a few month at my local comic con. So kind and humble. Told him how i watch Cowboy Bebop at the end of every rough day, and it is one of my biggest inspirations. I also told him how me and my brother bonded over his work on Logic's The Incredible True Story. Believe it or not, he took a video of me telling the story about me realizing that Spike-fucking-spiegel was on a rap album, and sent it to Logic.
Midna lol, it's got nothing to do with cowboys...it's like Firefly before Firefly existed. I hear it's really good, but I've only seen a few episodes. I like it. I should probably go buy the Blu-rays (they're *phenomenal* from the footage I've seen)
@@pikppa Their was this tv show once, and even though I thought the tv show was really fucking shitty, their was one character who was really interesting to me that touched this topic. Then you realise he does Bo Rai Cho and Zaterran warrior Reptile in that bunch for MKX , plus MK11 with him being the Tarakatan warrior Baraka after Greg Eagles
I remember actually checking out Blum's work in Rescue Bots, and there is one episode where the characters all got their bodies swapped with Heatwave swapping with his partner Kade. When he was talking, he reminded me a lot of when he did his voice work for T.O.M from Toonami.
His voice on Spike Spiegel changed my whole perspective about the anime and its industry. I was immediately attracted to the character when I heard his first few lines in the pilot episode of Cowboy Bebop. I just love how his voice gave more than enough justice to Spike's character, in a way you feel as if the guy really exists, as if he's that carefree and confident man in your Literature class or that enigmatic boy next door. He totally nailed "giving life to the character". This guy is definitely one of the greatest voice actors ever
That Spike voice clip tattoo has to be the coolest tattoo with genuine significance I've ever seen. I've always said, if I ever get a tattoo, it has to have a huge significance to something that contributed to my success and growth in life. What a perfect example of that.

I LIKE Butts he is Tank Dempsey
His voice makes me tremble.
His natural voice is also similar to Spike Spiegel's voice from Cowboy Bepop. He also did that voice.
natural?! sounds like smokers voice
The fact he got a tattoo of Spike Spiegel's voice saying bang is just wholesome. Shows how connected he was with his own character
It would be cool if we had a scanner that reads sound wave image and converts into audio.
Wholesome like Quaker Oats! Wholesome. 🙄
Steve Blum's normal voice is just Tank Dempsey not shouting
AmericanRedhead exactly
every time i hear his voice tom from toonami and shishio instantly come to mind. he just used his real voice for them.
