+eyespliced ...Been flat out over the winter eyespliced, and prospecting has had to play second fiddle. Got a few new ones in the pipeline to make up for the absence. Hope all's been going great over your way.....Cheers Wal.
I'm impressed too! Glad to see you back with more gold video's W & L. You must be old Wal, "I'll bet London to a brick" hasn't been heard since Ken Howard died. It was amusing to hear it again.
+Walter Kerr ...You're right there Walter...I'm certainly not getting any younger, and the body seems to be telling me that on every hill I try to climb these days. Good thing I'm thick skinned and don't listen to it lol. Hope your Xmas was great and the coming New Year is golden. Take care...Wal.
+yack f zay.... Been a bit busy lately yack so unfortunately the prospecting had to suffer. Hope your Xmas was enjoyable and may luck and good fortune follow you around in 2016.
+MIgardener | Simple Organic Gardening & Sustainable Living ...thanks for watching and we hope to be bringing a few more vids online soon. Hope all's been great over your way, and all the best for the New Year. Cheers Wal.
+Coyote Rider Thanks Cliff, it's been a busy six months for us and we've been missing the prospecting quite a lot. Hope all's been great over your way and may the New Year be golden for you. Cheers Wal.
+Chris Hall ...Glad to hear that you enjoy some our vids Chris. Hope the New Year is golden for you, and though the gold in your area is small, I hope that a lot of it finds its way into your gold pan this coming season. Take care and all the very best...Wal.
I'm really thrilled that you guys have uploaded another video. A belated Xmas present and what a great Video it is. Great finds Wal and excellent editing Liz. Can't wait to see the next one - would be really fired up if it was a hi-banking vid in an exotic location... Myles
+Outlander 51... Glad you enjoyed the vid Myles. We've been that busy lately on projects that prospecting has been light on. High Banking time is just around the corner mate so pretty sure a vid will follow soon. Just not quite sure if it will be in an exotic location....lol. Take care....Wal.
+Willo's Australian coin, relic and gold detecting ...Thanks Ian and all the very best for 2016 to you and the family. Hope the year is kind to you and your detector. Cheers Wal.
Hi Wal & Liz - Happy New Year! - Great video - to share on New Years Day. I'm in a similar looking location in central Victoria - getting some nice flakes from the crevices - after seeing this - I might break out the detector and go up the bank - now that I've seen how it's done. Pretty sure I too can find one of those 100 year nails LOL. Cheers Thanks for sharing GL & HP Ian.
+IrocOn2 ...Happy New year to you as well Ian. 100 year old nails are a real challenge mate, but I'm sure you will set your sights higher to at least be the right colour. Hope all's great and the gold is being kind to you. Cheers Wal.
+jaffyger ...Thanks Jaff and all the very best for you and the family as well. Hope the New Year remains positive throughout and luck follows you around throughout 2016. All the best...Wal.
+Harold Harold ...Thanks for watching Harold. I' mainly run mid range and larger coils looking for the deeper targets. The beauty of these new generation coils is they are particularly sensitive on both the small and large targets. I ran a Coiltek Elite mono in the same area and found it to also be a great coil, with not much difference in depth and sensitivity. The reason for my preference to the NF Evo is the fact it is an elliptical and more versatile in the tight areas we have on the NSW fields. Also the elliptical I find has superior pinpointing ability, and for the larger coils this is a big advantage. Best of luck out there...Wal.
What a great video guys. Those shiny rocks were awsum. Time to dust off the detector me thinks. Good to see you guys are out and about even in heavy heat. Good luck on the next one
+Chris M ....You're lucky you didn't come down on New Years Eve Chris, as frying eggs on the exposed bedrock was a very viable option. We only lasted a day in the heat but fortunately luck was on our side. Take care and talk soon.....Wal.
+gary whelton... Just hoping the luck continues for us throughout the year Gary. Hope all's going great over your way and may 2016 be the best year yet. All the very best...Wal.
+Rinat9746... Thanks for watching Rinat and hope you found the vid enjoyable. This particular coil is the 17" x 13" Mono Evolution, and is made by Nugget Finder. All the very best...Wal.
You've sold me Wal, currently using a 17 x 9 advantage coil and upgrading to an evo...was gunna go for the 15" round but think I'll go gor the 17x13 now. Good video...cheers
Thanks for watching Turon. 15" round and 17"x13" are almost the same in every aspect...ie depth capability, sensitivity, weight, etc...but the reason i prefer the 17x13 is the ease in which it can pinpoint compared to the round. Good luck with it....Wal.
+NOTAPOLITECANADIAN ....Thanks for watching and glad you enjoyed the vid. Hope all's going great over your way, and all the very best for the New Year. Cheers Wal.
+ian PRICE ...Been a hectic few months for us Ian so the prospecting trips have suffered. Hope you're Xmas was great and all the very best for 2016. Take care...Wal.
+thomas101834... Thanks for watching thomas. We were fortunate to find the 4 pieces that day for just over 1/2 an ounce, but the heat got the better of us and forced us to abandon our planned stay for an extra day. Hope Xmas was great for you, and all the very best for the coming New Year. Cheers Wal.
Thanks for watching Fabio. Elliptical and Round coils both have their advantages in your arsenal, and we use both types. The 17 x 13 evo and the 15 round evo are about the same in sensitivity and depth capability. The advantage for us with the elliptical is it has better pinpointing capabilities and is better suited to the vegetated areas we work. Best of luck out there....Wal.
Great work guys, keep the gold vids coming! Always enjoy watching your new discoveries and learning about prospecting methods and new kit...Hope 2016 brings you lots of good gold! Cheers
+Tunis Palmer ...Glad you're enjoying some of the vids Tunis and hope luck is following you around with your prospecting. Take care and all the best...Wal.
+Dan O'Hara (Detectist) Thanks for watching Dan, and I'm sure you would have experienced the negativity from those frustrating nails yourself. This one had me really beat, as the last 3 targets were all gold and in the same location. The old saying "you win some, and you lose some" seems to always stand true when swinging a detector. All the best...Wal.
+YFZMoto ...thanks mate and glad you're still enjoying the vids. Hope 2016 is kind to you and that luck follows you around all year. Take care and all the very best...Wal.
WHAT I LOVE ABOUT SEARCHING FOR GOLD IS GET RISH AND THE ADVENTURE. I WILL TRY LOOKING FOR GOLD AND TAKE FOOD WATER CLOTHES AND STUFF BUT I NEED THE METAL DETECTOR
Great Vid guys. Some beautiful water worn nuggets. I got an evolution whilst in WA and was pretty impressed with it. I will be heading down to NSW and VIC for Feb, March and Apr. Would be great to meet you guys if possible. All the best for 2016. Regards John.
+Aussie Bloke Prospector ...Be great to catch up John if you're down our way. Just send me a PM and I'll give you my details. We're hoping to get back to WA next winter but will be over here in the East till mid June. Take care and catch up soon...Wal.
Wow! Watching how thorough you guys are in your vid's, it says a lot about the 17x13 that you went back and found more. I'm thinking about a 4500 at the moment, I'm guessing it would do quite well on that machine as well?
Thanks for watching JF. I have also run this coil on a 4500 and have several mates with 4500's running this coil in deeper ground who do extremely well with it. It does take a few setting changes, and runs best in Enhance with a slightly reduced Gain and Stabilizer setting. Good luck out there and hope the gold is being kind to you. Cheers Wal.
Thanks mate, that's good to hear. Sorry to be a pain, but can I throw one last question at you? I've seen a spoked version of this coli on Nenad's site... would there be any performance difference with the spoked version, and would the slight weight difference make it more suitable as a patch finder?
No difference in performance JF and both are great coils. I prefer the solid as i tend to scrape the coil often in the locations i work, and the solid has less tendency to snag. My favorite coil for patch finding is the 17 x 11 NF Advantage as this coil can be swung all day long without fatigue due to its lightness. The Evo's come into their own once you are on ground that is giving up nuggets or has been heavily worked by the standard range of coils. Take care out there...Wal.
Hi wal and liz. I'm new to detecting only been out twice but have found gold both times. I have a ng 12" evolution coil on my 5000. I have been wondering if it would be worth it to get a 13 x 17 evolution. I guess I'm a bit impatient and tend to cover a lot of ground. Is it worth it to use the larger coil for patching or just stick with the 12"? Thanks.
The 17x13 in my opinion is too heavy for a patch finding coil, and what I use with great success for patch finding is the NF 17x11 spoked elliptical. I also run the 12" Evo and it is a sensational all round coil. My bet for a deeper seeking coil than the 12" would be the 15" spoked Evo. I'm working a lot in NSW, where there is a lot of undergrowth and uneven terrain and that is why I use the 17X13 evo quite a bit with great success. What to have as a coil selection is a very difficult subject to give advice on....but If I was to restrict "my" coil selection to 4 coils only, my choice would be a Sadie8x6, a12 Evo, a 15 spoked Evo round for depth, and a17x11 spoked for patch finding. Hope this is of some help and good luck on the nuggets. Chers Wal.
Hey there Wal n Liz,, just want to say love your videos and hope you keep em coming! hehe.. Do you think a Minelab Commander 15'' x 12'' mono would have pinged those nuggs ? Regards. AL
+Volcanic ...Glad you're enjoying some of the vids Volcanic. I've run over this particular patch with just about every coil there is, and I use the spot as a coil testing ground. I missed these few with the standard 17 x 11 NF and with both a 14" and 18" round. The 18" was a minelab Commander, and the reason i missed them was the particular area had reasonably high Tussock grass which didn't allow the coils to get close enough to the ground being non elliptical coils. The Commander 15 x 12 from my previous comparisons was pretty equal to the NF 17 x 11. Based on this I feel quite confident that the coil would have been right on the border line of seeing these nuggets. The signals were barely a warble and break in the threshold so would easily have been walked over by an operator not knowing just how rich this short section was, hence the extremely slow and methodical coverage required. Commanders are great coils, but I feel these new generation coils have a noticeable advantage....not huge...but certainly noticeable. Best of luck..Wal.
+Wal nLiz .. Thanks for the informative feedback Wal, i'm in the old coil dilemma at the moment, emm.. 17x13 Evo or 15 Evo or even the 16 NF solid.. im thinking if the 17x13 just heard those nuggs 'maybe' the 15 or 16 would just hit em a bit better (being round) if you could get them close enough to the top soil.. emm,, i wonder.. decisions/decisions.. All the Best.. AL.
+Volcanic ...That's where the dilemma rises Al. How many coil configs is too many. A 15, 16, 18 round would certainly pick them up deeper if flat ground wasn't an issue. The trick I guess is having a mix of elliptical and round to cover most bases. In VIC and WA round coils cover you more than adequately because of the flatter terrain. NSW with its mountainous terrain crates it's own problems and an elliptical in the both the small and mid range is of huge benefit. My personal presence is a 12", 14" or 15" and 18" round, supplemented by a Sadie and mid range eliptical. That gives a range of 5 coils which covers pretty well all scenarios. Best of luck with the dilemma mate....Wal.
+Wal nLiz I wouldnt mind having about 10 different coil configs for my 4500 Wal but i'll probably end up with around 5 as i have my old Minelab XT 18000 with a 15'' round & 10 x 5 elliptical coils and use the new Garrett AT waterproof pin pointer too. I search mostly around central NSW and know what you mean about the mountainous terrain, certainly gives me a good exercise workout! Hope to see you's out on the track someday! All the best, cheers.. Al
That was cool, thanks for sharing. It does not seem like an easy way to get rich unless you are very lucky.I wish you both plenty of luck and good fortune..Cheers
Another great vid guys, but where was Wal? Kept on hearing him but couldn't see him through that moving shrub 😝 but all seriously looks like an awesome coil who needs a Z hey 👍🏻 cheers
+Buzzthemuzz ...Thanks for watching Buzz, ...that moving shrub is almost a necessity these days mate...lol. I've run the Z and though it's a great machine I find the versatility of the GPX, combined with the new generation coils, a far better investment. All the best and stay safe...Wal.
+Buzzthemuzz... The 4500 and 5000 are pretty well the same machine minus a couple of Timings. I'm sure it would run exactly the same in Enhance, and probably just as well in Sens Extra. It's extremely sensitive to moisture in Sens Extra and I tend to usually knock the Stabilizer down to half the Gain setting for these situations. Cheers Wal.
Wal, a contractor I once worked for bought some new tools for the crew to use. He told me, Sometimes there is a need to gratify an engineer for his good work, by buying his product! :-) Old Fred was a good guy. Good luck with the machine! ..Have you got a separate one for Liz? rc
+Rusty Case Thanks for watching RC. You certainly best off with the right tool for the trade and in detecting this stands very true. I've run the 5000 for a long time and I consider it the best machine on the market....even when you throw the 7000 into the mix. Liz runs a Whites TDI Pro as she finds the GPX series too heavy for her. All the very best....Wal
Aha! Competition !!! How about a 4hr challenge ? In the morning, before it gets too hot? Biggest nugget wins. :-) rc Then, of course, Liz will see it's well taken care of...
Hello how are you doing Wal and liz I've always had an interest in in gold ever since primary school when I learnt about it I have been watching your videos for probably about 4 years now and I like them very much I am 25 years old now in late last year I finally went out and bought my first metal detector a gpx5000 and would you believe it the first time I went out got a 4.7g and a 1.8g beginners luck I guess Found in qld Durikai I live in Brisbane I am hooked now I would absolutely love to meet up with you I feel like what I would learn from you would be priceless but I guess the videos are good enough keep them coming and I'll keep watching thank you cheers Mitch
+Mitchell Paterson ... Thanks for the kind comment Mitch and glad you like some of our vids. A couple of nuggets on your first trip out is very impressive, and you've certainly got the best machine to swing out on the gold fields. We're in Qld quite often so there's always a chance we could bump into each other on the field one day. Hope luck follows you around with that 5000 and take care out there. All the very best...Wal.
It's in the Bathurst region of NSW. That's about as close as I will give but remember that "Research" is your best friend in prospecting, and very few will mark an "X" on the map for the general public to see. Best of luck out there...Wal.
its such a downer to hit those useless irons. But I try to think positive and say to myself I just did the nature a favor and removed this rusty garbage plus got some free excercise :D Also would recommend u a pinpointer :D
hey WnL, u guys done super watch out 4 the heat it will get YOU!, hope u have more vids 2 show i love them, BET THAT COIL IS HEAVY , like a ton? GOD BLESS YOU BOTH MY FRIENDS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
+MrCoin Digger ...Thanks for watching Digger and glad you like some of the vids. For a reasonably large coil they weigh only 990 grams and are quite manageable, even without a bungee chord. Take care and all the very best for the New Year. Cheers Wal.
+Celtic Saint ...Thanks for watching Celtic. It certainly pays for the outing, but we mainly do it for the challenge and the hobby. All the very best for 2016. Cheers Wal.
I bought a new old stock Minelab 1600 in the early 90's and found a 4gram nugget 3 and a half feet under a sandy shore next to the river... it worked on the 6.4 kz frequency...I had the best time ever watching my new 19 yr old girlfriend dig it up in her micro bikini.... it don't get any better than that boys!
+Mike Smith ....Thanks for watching Mike. Great to see that you have had success with the gold, and it certainly is a great hobby to be associated with. All the best...Wal.
+wearediffrent ....Thanks for watching. I find as a general rule they don't speed up the process much. They can sometimes be of benefit with the larger coils, but there is drawbacks when using the larger coils in that the pinpointers interfere with the detector when the settings are boosted close to max. The old saying goes...some like them....some don't. Mine's been sitting on the top shelf of the cupboard for many years now. All the best...Wal.
Took your advice and brought one for the 5000.
Thx for sharing
Woo! A new video from you two! Glad to see you're still at it :)

Hello, very pleased that you appeared on TH-cam, the video is good that in the new coil, mono or dd? The name and manufacturer of coil?
+Rinat9746... Thanks for watching Rinat and hope you found the vid enjoyable. This particular coil is the 17" x 13" Mono Evolution, and is made by Nugget Finder. All the very best...Wal.

Chers Wal.
Another enjoyable video thanks.I'm not going to ask you where the location is but just wondering which state.
Thanks for watching ozzy. This is in the Bathurst region of NSW. Take care...Wal.
Al
What type of metal detector is that?
It's a Minelab GPX5000 Appleguy. Take care...Wal.
+Wal nLiz thanks mate love the vids, do u you think this coil would Run the same on a 4500 ? Cheers happy digging mate
Cheers Wal.
nice finds guys
+cssspoon ...Thanks for watching cssspoon. All the best for the New Year. Cheers Wal.
Wal, a contractor I once worked for bought some new tools for the crew to use. He told me, Sometimes there is a need to gratify an engineer for his good work, by buying his product! :-)
Old Fred was a good guy.
:-) rc
Then, of course, Liz will see it's well taken care of...
+Rusty Case Wal's going to win hands down as I'll still be asleep until it gets too hot to sleep in. :-)
Well. Okay Liz. You're the boss!
...and How is Pedro??? rc
+Rusty Case He's doing great Rusty. Got a couple more of his videos to be uploaded soon. Cheers, Liz
Nice job I wash fly poop size gold from Swiss rivers but its fun. Keep the vids coming.
+Southpaw Davey ...Thanks for watching Davey and hope you have some good luck this season in the Swiss streams. All the very best...Wal.
Hello how are you doing Wal and liz
I've always had an interest in in gold ever since primary school when I learnt about it I have been watching your videos for probably about 4 years now and I like them very much I am 25 years old now in late last year I finally went out and bought my first metal detector a gpx5000 and would you believe it the first time I went out got a 4.7g and a 1.8g beginners luck I guess Found in qld Durikai I live in Brisbane I am hooked now I would absolutely love to meet up with you I feel like what I would learn from you would be priceless but I guess the videos are good enough keep them coming and
I'll keep watching thank you cheers Mitch
+Mitchell Paterson ... Thanks for the kind comment Mitch and glad you like some of our vids. A couple of nuggets on your first trip out is very impressive, and you've certainly got the best machine to swing out on the gold fields. We're in Qld quite often so there's always a chance we could bump into each other on the field one day. Hope luck follows you around with that 5000 and take care out there. All the very best...Wal.
+Wal nLiz thank you very much hope I run into you sometime and if you don't mind me asking what state was this in cheers Mitch
+Mitchell Paterson ...This is in the Bathurst region of NSW Mitch. Cheers Wal.
+Wal nLiz good to see you still getting Big nuggets out there
What region is this within 100 km ?
It's in the Bathurst region of NSW. That's about as close as I will give but remember that "Research" is your best friend in prospecting, and very few will mark an "X" on the map for the general public to see. Best of luck out there...Wal.
Thanks Wal -- i appreciate your kind clue
Awesome nuggets
Nice finds
+finpainter1... Thanks fin and all the very best....Wal.
how exciting!!!!!!!!
Thanks for watching kitty. All the best...Wal.
Why don't you guys get one or two of those pin pointers?
We've got pin pointers but find they are more useful for coin hunting than nuggets. Cheers Wal.
its such a downer to hit those useless irons. But I try to think positive and say to myself I just did the nature a favor and removed this rusty garbage plus got some free excercise :D
Also would recommend u a pinpointer :D
+Zorroborro ...Thanks for watching. Cheers Wal.
Great coil and tips , I just picked up the 17x13 Evo 😁 thank you.we recently started a channel and subed😍
hey WnL, u guys done super watch out 4 the heat it will get YOU!, hope u have more vids 2 show i love them, BET THAT COIL IS HEAVY , like a ton?
GOD BLESS YOU BOTH MY FRIENDS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
+MrCoin Digger ...Thanks for watching Digger and glad you like some of the vids. For a reasonably large coil they weigh only 990 grams and are quite manageable, even without a bungee chord. Take care and all the very best for the New Year. Cheers Wal.
liz i love all your vids my friend!!
GOD BLESS U BOTH!!!!!!!!!!!
+MrCoin Digger Thanks for MrCoin Digger and all the best for the new year. Cheers, Liz

who was that videoing to the left... see that spy?
plz be safe...
All the best...Wal.
use pinpointer dude
+wearediffrent ....Thanks for watching. I find as a general rule they don't speed up the process much. They can sometimes be of benefit with the larger coils, but there is drawbacks when using the larger coils in that the pinpointers interfere with the detector when the settings are boosted close to max. The old saying goes...some like them....some don't. Mine's been sitting on the top shelf of the cupboard for many years now. All the best...Wal.
