Thanks for the video.I do a bit of prospecting when I get a chance once or twice a year.I used to find bits and pieces but in the last three years not a speck.Believe me I get excited just as much as Liz when Wal digs out a nugget.I admire what you do and makes me want to become a full time prospector.
Liz, your so fun and full of energy! Where you ever a cheerleader in school? Cause you can sure get to cheering Wal when he's gonna go for the gold(beeps)? Go Wal, Go! 4 the Gold, Wal, 4 the GOLD! LIZ MAKES WATCHING THESE VIDEOS MORE FUN TO WATCH! Lucky Wal! CHEERS!
Glad you enjoy some of the vids Darla. Liz certainly loves her prospecting and and her excitement can certainly be infectious. All the very best...Wal.
Wal nLiz ~ G'Day! I don't just watch a few vids, I binge watched them all! LOL I'm re~watching them as we speak! I don't get out much, so I get my jolly's pretending I'm sitting near by "Blow Tubing" or washing up your finds like Liz is doing. Not to worry, I won't get in the way or chatter your ears off. I'm too busy watchin & learning from the Boss! I forgot to mention that I don't like to stop and like share or comment on every vid. I do, however love every one. I laugh, shout out my comments, and cheer for you both. I often find myself sitting on the edge of my seat, holding my breath every time you get right to the piece, crossing fingers it a BIGGIE! Thanks for entertaining me, providing a bit of company that I can have a cocktail along with you at the end of the day. Here's to finding more GOLD THAN YOU CAN SHAKE A BLOW TUBE AT! CHEERS!😘🇺🇸🙋🙃
Thanks for the very nice comment Darla and glad we can cheer your day up with some of our adventures. Hope all is well over your way and all our best wishes go your way. Cheers Wal and Liz;
Thanks Jeff and look forward to catching up when you get over this way. Hope the gold is being kind to you and all is great over your way. Stay safe....Wal.
Ahh Jeff, you sneaky like Slim getting around. Wal nLiz are great, love watchig their vids as much as your mate, and see, there's 3 of us that look forward to your coming Down Under.. Shiney here may be slightly different to up there, but it's still shiney, that's all that counts.... Take care Bud
Another great Vid Wal nLiz. You two are getting me excited for the warmer Victorian weather, specially after that 1/4 mill nugget was found in the golden triangle.. Keep them coming ... Take care the both of you
By that I mean this inspires me to go up to the Stuart hwy in the nt to make my own adventure finding gems and see the sights and also I would like to visit the town I grew up in Katherine
Thanks for watching wizzard. It is a great hobby and I hope you get to live your inspirations. There's some great gemstones in from Alice around Gemtree and through the Harts Ranges, and that area is certainly worth a visit if ever you head back to Katherine. Take care...Wal.
you two are fantastic. thank you so much for the vids. It's like I am out there myself. good boost for when I cant get out prospecting. all the best to you.
Thanks for watching Manda.I do get excited as well but usually more so if the bits are better than ounce....If we find the reef then I'm sure you will see a bit more excitement from me. Take care...Wal.
Good work mate I love the look of that reef Gold really looking forward to your video on the settings I have a gpx 5000 and a 17/13 nugget finder it's a beast
Thanks for watching Mitchell. The NF 17x13 is a very good coil and with the right approach to settings can open up a lot of originally flogged out ground. Good luck out there.
love ya work guys look forward to the settings on the 4500. im working in rutherglen at the moment have been paning in reedy creek any heads up whould be much appreciated will be grabbing the 4500 next weekend when i go home for a few days.
+Wal nLiz love the vids as always but keen to hear/settings for gpz 4500 as i have one and you can google it till the cows come home and everyone has a different idea on settings. Got latest nugget finder coil but find it quite noisy after scraping and going deeper with loud signals but with no result , kind of frustrating, any tips???
Glad you enjoy the vids Garry. The new generation coils need some getting use to and you're best running them in Enhance with a stabilizer setting closer to half the gain setting to start with, and then slowly boosting it up from there when the conditions allow. I will go into all the pros and cons of the timings best suited, and why, in the next vid as there is too much too relay via text alone. good luck out there mate. Cheers Wal.
Brilliant !!! I just love watching your vids an I like how you get hyper when wal finds a target. The reef gold sure is stunning to look at . Do you keep your gold or do you sell it ? I keep all mine I find .. Thanks for sharing an regards to you both from scotland.
Glad you enjoy some of our vids Devito and hope you are doing well on the gold in Scotland as well. We tend to keep most of our gold as we find paper money is no where as nice to look at as lumps of gold in my opinion. Take care over your way...Cheers Wal.
Nice finds Wal & Liz, well done! How do you guys go about choosing a location to prospect? Do you just prospect in goldfield reserves/state forests or do you get permission & go on private land? Cheer's :-)
Thanks for watching soar. We do quite a lot of research and overlay most of the known gold fields over geological maps, looking for fringe deposits which have not had the minor gold loads discovered. The major loads have generally all been discovered by the old timers, but once the richest parts were worked many of them moved on to greener pastures. Perseverance and a reasonable amount of leg work can still be very productive for those willing to put in the extra yards. Take care...Wal.
Gday Wal n Liz, I think I read somewhere that you have a z but you dont use it much when prospecting in NSW? Is that right? I have a z & was wondering the reasons why you don't use it much. I have found I need to drop the sensitivity a bit to counteract ground noise in highly mineralised soils such as at Ophir etc. Hope to meet you guys out there one day! :-) Pete
The Z is great in open areas Pete and I'd certainly be using it up in the Ophir region which is more open than much of the ground I'm presently working around Hill End and the Tuena region. I've been targeting some very rough and tight locations over the last 12 months or so, and for the areas I've been working the 14" round coil on the Z is just too big. Last couple of trips we've found quite a few ounces and better than 70% of these have been with an 8x6 Sadie in country mountain goats try to avoid. Certainly would be great to catch up some time out there in the paddock. Best of luck Pete and take care out there. Cheers Wal.
Pretty well all the creeks that run into the Turon hold various amounts of gold Martin. I'd probably start on the rapids section just downstream from Coles Bridge, concentrating in the river itself rather than the exposed bedrock crevices, as these crevices have seen quite a bit of work. After these recent floods you should do quite well. Good luck with it and take care mate...Wal.
Thanks for watching Albert. The reef gold is shedding from Quartz Reef within a sheer zone of the surrounding countryside. Coral reefs are a completely unrelated entity, but it is easy to see how the wording can become confusing if you are not geologically versed. Take care...Wal.
There is some reasonable gold up that way but it is very inconsistent. Some of the smaller creeks up in the ranges still produce some coarse pieces but the area has seen a lot of prospectors over the last 10 years or so. You are much better off in the Hill End region as this area is a much larger gold field with more consistent results for the prospectors. Take care...Wal.
Many people (including me) wish they could live your adventure :) Have you ever used the Minelab SDC 2300 In your adventures ? It is my dream machine :)
Glad to share some of the adventures with you Thomas. I've used the 2300 many times but am not a fan of the machine for serious gold detecting. Thanks Thomas...I run a 7000 as well and they are a really great machine, but in many areas we prospect I much prefer using the 5000 with which I can interchange small, medium and large coils, depending on whether I'm working in the creek bed itself or amongst thick undergrowth. The 7000 really comes into its own on the more open WA or VIC goldfields, but NSW generally isn't suited to being forced to use only a 14" coil....this is my opinion and experience only of course. Cheers Wal.
Thanks for watching Peter. We are in the ACT but spend quite a lot of time in various parts of the Golden Triangle in Vic. Take care and good luck this season. Cheers Wal.
Thanks for watching Martin. We're up in the Bathurst region of NSW, and If you look around most of the creeks that flow into the Turon River around Sofalla you will be sure to get some gold. Good luck out there mate....Cheers Wal.

That is a big coil, what size is it, is monocoil or dd? is the best to prospecting?
Thanks for watching Fabio. The coil is a Nugget Finder 17"x!3" evolution. Take care...Wal.
Nice video. Very entertaining. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for watching Pat and glad you enjoyed the vid. Take care...Wal.
You are the best Wal and liz

A Spear and Jackson brush hook makes short work of blackberries. Carry a mill bastard file to keep it sharp.
Nice finds Wal & Liz, well done! How do you guys go about choosing a location to prospect? Do you just prospect in goldfield reserves/state forests or do you get permission & go on private land? Cheer's :-)

With all that gold you guys have dug up, you could buy a chopper & fast rope down! LOL ;-) Cheers Pete
Wal how you going any hints of what creeks we can start please around Sofala if not all good look forward for your next video
Pretty well all the creeks that run into the Turon hold various amounts of gold Martin. Thanks for watching Moto and your right in that Liz really enjoys her days out in the big paddock. All the best...Wal.
Great work guys where you from in oz
is the reef gold coming from a old ocean coral reef was deposited in that thanks
Thanks for watching Albert. The reef gold is shedding from Quartz Reef within a sheer zone of the surrounding countryside. Coral reefs are a completely unrelated entity, but it is easy to see how the wording can become confusing if you are not geologically versed. Take care...Wal.
Nice gold. Would be perfect area for a hydro force nozzle
You're right about that Dave but unfortunately we are not allowed such methods as prospectors over here. Take care...Wal.
Is nundle any good Wal and liz

Many people (including me) wish they could live your adventure :) Have you ever used the Minelab SDC 2300 In your adventures ? It is my dream machine :)
Glad to share some of the adventures with you Thomas. I've used the 2300 many times but am not a fan of the machine for serious gold detecting. What I mean by that is the SDC is a great clean up machine for mullock heaps and shallow ground detecting for small nuggets, but is not a serious contender for hunting the larger deeper nuggets. A small coil on the 4500 or 5000 will pick up 90% of the small nuggets a 2300 can hear, but by switching to a larger coil the serious nuggets can also be unearthed. Take care...Wal.
Thanks for the info :) May the man upstairs (or some rich person who love your videos) Bless you with a GPZ 7000 :)
Cheers Wal.
Wal and Liz are you guys in Victoria ?
Love to catch up one day .
Regards Peter
Thanks for watching Peter. We are in the ACT but spend quite a lot of time in various parts of the Golden Triangle in Vic. Take care and good luck this season. Cheers Wal.
