Steve Buscemi was supposed to have a way bigger role in Pulp Fiction but he had another commitment so he had to just play the waiter at the restaurant.
You guys have great chemistry, I’m glad you aren’t afraid to pause or rewind the video! Great job, this reaction was a lot of fun!
Ayyyeee appreciate that. Glad you enjoyed, Supreme.
First time viewer here.
I really like the dual perspectives you both bring to what you're watching. I totally "got" the commentary you both had about Tarantino's frequent and overzealous use of the N-word in his films.
IMO, he places his true thoughts in the dialogue of his onscreen characters.
Love your channel. 🫶
You guys will LOVE Jackie Brown. To me it's one of Quentin's most slept on films but it's one of his best. It's an adaptation of an Elmore Leonard novel but it still has Quentin's brilliant dialog. Please watch it next. It would be his next film chronologically (seeing As you guys have seen Pulp Fiction).
As time has gone on and we've had more and more years with so much of Quentin's filmography, Jackie Brown has risen to the top of my list. Definitely my favorite QT film.
And you're right... these two are going to LOOOVE Jackie Brown!!
Check out True Romance (1991) Tarantino wrote it but the studios didn't let him direct. Tony Scott(Ridley Scott's late brother) directed it it was shot in Tony Scott's style (he shot the orginal Top Gun), but the the characters and plot are pure Tarantino. You should also watch Natural Born Killers Tarantino wrote it too.
Robert Rodriguez wrote/directed From Dust to Dawn. He and Tarantino are good friends. Also check out Sin City.
@@danielskinner5346Tarantino has disowned NBK bc of the way Oliver Stone handled it. I still like it, but Stone *really* messed around with how the movie was supposed to be.
@@TheDrLeviathanI didn't know Tarantino disowned NBK. I still love the movie and I think Oliver Stone definitely made Tarantino's script his own.
This movie only opened in 19 theatres and then expanded to 61, for the entire country. (For reference large - opening movies would open in 2,000 theatres). When it was finally released on VHS to Blockbuster, et al, it was rented out solid for weeks where I lived. Pre-internet, things like word of mouth and movie reviews in magazines and papers could help an underground film like this get popular. The 90s was a great decade for movies.
Mr. blonde is Vincent Vega's brother in pulp fiction.
*The Vega Brothers*
John Travolta's character. I don't know if they remember Vincent Vega's name because they couldn't understand when Mia (Uma Thurman) said his name on the microphone. They thought she said pussy fucker or Lucifer at first.
Victor Vega: Michael Madsen ⛽️
Vincent Vega: John Travolta 📖
Mr. White is a real one, "beware an old man in a young man's game".
Mr. Orange is laying on the floor bleeding at the warehouse while Mr. White and Mr. Pink are in the other room trying to figure out what's happening. Tarantino gives you the first clue that Orange is the cop by the color of the bottles on the shelf in the back. The white and pink bottles are on one side of the shelf while the orange jars are on the opposite side by themselves.
homage to Stanley Kubrick's The Shining with the Calumet Baking Powder scene
The black cop who teaches Mr. Orange the commode story got his part over Samuel L. Jackson. When he ran into Tarantino at the premiere, Quentin basically said, "Don't worry, I've got a part that's perfect for you." Hence, the role of Jules Winnfield came to be the legend it is today.
"Relax. Have a cigarette."
"I quit."
"Alright."
"Why, you got one?"
Fun Fact: Filmed in thirty-five days.
Medical Fact: During filming, a paramedic was kept on the set to make sure that Mr. Orange's (Tim Roth) amount of blood loss was kept consistent and realistic to that of a real gunshot victim.
Music Enthusiast Fact: Madonna, who is the main topic of the opening conversation, really liked the film, but refuted Quentin Tarantino's Like A Virgin (1992) interpretation. She gave him a copy of her Erotica (1992) album, signed: "To Quentin. It's not about dick, it's about love. Madonna."
Pacifist Panic Fact: Michael Madsen had difficulty filming the torture scenes, due to his strong aversion to violence of any kind, and was particularly reluctant when he was required to hit Kirk Baltz. When Baltz ad-libbed a line that his character has a child at home, Madsen, who had just become a new father himself, was so disturbed by the idea of leaving a child fatherless that he almost couldn't finish the scene.
"He's a sentimental guy". HAHAH I remember seeing this in the theater when it came out. Popped in at random because the movie poster looked cool. What a ride it was. Also, I love it when the both of you react to films together. Your conversation and banter is quite entertaining and often insightful.
😂😂 thanks =D
This is where White and Pinkman came from in Breaking Bad. They even recreated the pose when Buscemi is on the ground and they’re both aiming at each other. Also, if you listen to the background instead of White and Orange at the end, you can hear Pink get shot and arrested outside.
And many of us thought the briefcase in pulp fiction was from this heist.
Has that theory ever been hinted at or merely wild speculation? My understanding is that this heist was for diamonds and the briefcase in PF held something far more interesting.
True Romance is a Tarantino must!!!
Mr White mentions Alabama from True Romance during his meeting with Joe
FYI: Mr. Pink is caught and arrested outside the warehouse. Everything that happens outside the warehouse is on the music/sound effects track. If you listen to that track isolated, you can hear what is happening outside the warehouse plain as day. Mr. Pink is shot trying to escape. Though he was shot, Mr. Pink is still healthy enough to get out of the car and be placed in handcuffs. So presumably he was healthy enough to go to prison. Most of what happens outside the warehouse is hard to hear because the conversation between Mr. White and Mr. Orange covers up the what is happening outside.
Harvey Keitel began acting in the late 1960s and he's 84 years old. This was definitely not his first rodeo
Bad Lieutenant
In addition to the reference to True Romance, using Alabama's name, and the Pulp Fiction connection of the Vega brothers, Mr. White is rhe brother of Jimmy in Pulp Fiction (Tarantino's character) and Seymour Scagnetti (Mr. Blonde's parole officer) is the brother of Jack Scagnetti, the psycho detective in Natural Born Killers, which is a definite must-see and one of my all time faves.
The amount of chaos in Reservoir Dogs is cra-cra
Webster's Dictionary should read, Chaos: see "Reservoir Dogs."
Dances With Wolves always gets me, tough to get through that one without misty eyes.
The scenery was pure beauty.
This is the movie that made me realize I've never seen a real movie before. You guys should check out Jackie Brown next! (Tarantino) 😁😁
So as you can see Vincent's brother Mr. Blonde (Vic Vega) is a complete psycho
For years I thought Pink made it but then the internet told me that the cops outside got him. That makes me sad. 😔
OOOOooooh
If you listen closely, you can hear the cops shoot pink before they came inside
It sucks that we can’t unlearn something once we’ve learned it. You’d have been perfectly happy to go on indefinitely never knowing what actually happened. Nice of them to spoil it for you. 😂
This is why when discussing a film or scene that I really like , and someone starts to say “no actually, they DID NOT..” I cut them off immediately with a “I DO NOT WANT TO KNOW SO STFU RIGHT NOW!” 😂that way, it stays forever great in my imagination 🤣 I call that creative. My wife calls it delusion. But it’s fine. I just ignore that too. 🤣
Just because the cops were coming doesn’t mean they got him. I think it’s intentionally ambiguous.
I think it's left to the audience tbh, there's argument for both scenarios
Mr. Blonde (Vic Vega) and John Travolta in Pulp Fiction (Vincent Vega) are brothers. Apparently Tarantino wanted to do a prequel movie about them two but it took too long and the actors got older so it wouldn't work out.
Just want to add, you two are glorious together 😄 I love watching you two react to films🙂
It's fun to watch you watch movies. It's like I'm watching these movies for the first time again.
Ayyyyyee appreciate that, Von =D
A Reservoir is a water reserve, stored for a whole town and these men are like wild animals (dogs) fighting over the town reserves (the loot) instead of living honorably and taking only what is needed like honest, hardworking people usually do.
You guys are so much fun to watch
You should what all Tarantino movies in order, he has only 9, you guys have 7 left only
We plan to watch them all except Django since we both already watched that one
@@CampCrystalCharlieJackie Brown is great, with a brilliant cast 👍
Love your banter after the movie.
Thaaaanks, Tim =D
Now that you’ve seen this classic, you should check out another masterpiece written by Tarantino called ‘True Romance’. Guaranteed to blow your mind…every time.😎
Sweet. Seems like we need to just watch all of Taratino films because I don't think he miss.
@@CampCrystalCharlie ‘True Romance’ is epic. Tarantino never disappoints.😎
quentin liked those 70s 'black' or 'black exploitation' movies, which were about the only ones youd hear the 'n word' in.. so.. explains why he filled his own movies with it, id assume
Good work on this reaction video Crystal & Charlie. Two thumbs up.☝👍
I love that you are reacting to movies!! Some i've watched already and others im going to watch since they make you laugh and i have the same sense of humor.
44:15 lol That gave me a good laugh, you two talking about them being in a hurry to get to the tacos and/or the bathroom. Too funny. 😂
22:10 "I thought Quentin was gonna say it"
He actually wrote Mr Pink for himself, in part as a caricature of his own personality, but then Steve Buscemi came into the audition and did a better cartoon version of Quentin than Quentin could. Quentin did keep the Madonna monologue for himself, that was originally written to be Mr Pink's opening spiel and he re-wrote it for Mr Brown.
Y'all are relationship goals, I swear.
😂😂😂 thanks.
QT wrote the great film "True Romance", but did not direct it (directed by Tony Scott). Loaded with tons of stars and the typical QT dialogue/violence mix. One of my favorite films. A must see for any QT fan.
Funny because that one is coming soon =D
@@CampCrystalCharliethat cop was a G. They messed him up cut off his ear, and then even after blond soaked him in gas never told on orange.
A popular theory about the name is that Tarantino misheard the name of the movie Au Revoir Les Enfants and somehow interpreted it as reservoir dogs. Totally unconfirmed.
Harvey's Keitel has been in movies since the 70s. I don't know what his 1st movie was but I know that he was in Martin Scorsese's Taxi Driver starring Robert De Niro which was released in 76.
Tarantino doesn't make cameos because he wants screen time, he does it because he is (at the time of his early films at least) notoriously cheap, and could save money with one less actor.
Yes! You listen to your fans!!!
Love the energy between you two.
"is that the bum from big daddy?" made me fall out laughing bruh. lol
steven buscemi is always in an adam sandler movie. people hate on adam for always using the same actors in his movies but i think it's loyal. i just wish steven had more serious roles like this.
i heard a lot of rumors that sanji from one piece was designed after steven buscemi after oda(the creator of one piece) watched this movie. i believe it. besides sanji's blonde hair and his height they look the same. they even both smoke cigarettes, flick their lighters all the time and wear the same suit.
with the lighter i just thought it was defective and they had to do that to make it work, like how you shake pen to make it stop skipping when writing with it. lol
i feel like if you can't go to the hospital because you're wanted by the police, your underground organization should have a doctor and surgeon hired.
getting hit by a car, and then stealing the car that hit you was some of the most gangsta stuff that i ever saw. lol
😂😂😂😂 I remember him from Big Daddy.
Yoooo I have to show my girl this because she just got into One Piece the movie and she loves it
one of Michael Madson's iconic moments!
Steve Buscemi also in "Desperado" you should check that one out if you haven't seen it. A lot of gunfire in it.
Before you see Jackie Brown you might want to see the 1980 movie Alligator. Robert Forster is in both, and after he died a few years ago Tarantino talked about how his idea for Forster’s character in Jackie Brown was that he was his character from Alligator. They aren’t technically the same character, they’ve got different names. But the way Tarantino thought about it was that Forster’s Jackie Brown character used to be a cop, dealt with the events of Alligator, retired, moved, and became bail bondsman...also Alligator is a pretty cool monster movie.
39:30 that's a fair point, the shit some people say when they're truly anonymous is wild.
John Travolta's Character Vincent in Pulp Fiction, and Mr. Blonde AKA Vic Vega are Brothers in the movie world.
There is a fan theory that Mr. Pink didn't survive either. If you listen, there is a gunfight going on outside just before the Cops run in at the very end.
Imagine Mr. Pink in today's tip culture 😂
😂😂😂😂😂
Definitely do Jackie Brown. She was the queen of the Blaxploitation films of the 70s. This was his ode to them, and it was great.
I’m here for all your Tarantino reactions.
Harvey Keitel's first movie? LMAO. That would be news indeed to Martin Scorsese (Mean Streets 1973, Taxi Driver 1976) as well as Mr. Keitel.
Best reaction duo going today
The lighter thing is just a fancy way to light a zippo
You can flick a Zippo in two ways: One way is definitely going to work, but another is (for some reason) very satisfying, where you snap your fingers and it connects exactly. But the scene suggests he's nervous, because he wouldn't bother if he wasn't practiced.
😂she's so cute! The chick with the glasses! Plus, she's smart. LOVE HER!
Captain Spaulding is in Jackie Brown and Kill Bill Vol. 2. Sid Haig was in a few Pam Grier movies in the ‘70s as the bad guy, so in Jackie Brown Tarantino cast him as the judge Jackie Brown sees.
Planet Terror is director by the director of From Dusk till Dawn. A version of Planet Terror and a version of Tarantino’s Death Proof were originally released together as Grindhouse alongside trailers for fake movies (although now two [three if you count the Canadian version that had Hobo with a Shotgun] have been turned to actually movies) directed by Edgar Wright, Eli Roth, Rob Zombie, and Planet Terror director Robert Rodriguez.
I've been a true admirer of QT since ''Reservoir Dogs'' (1992), everytime he announced his next movie, I was so excited, still am....(can't wait for his 10th and final movie ''The Movie Critic''). Next reaction ''Jackie Brown''? It's one of his greatest movies. P.E.ace from overseas, The Netherlands. Btw., listen very closely, on head Phones, mr Pink gets killled....
There’s a trick where you can strike a Zippo by snapping your fingers. Mr. White either isn’t good at the trick or his lighter is running out of fuel.
And that's how to do a reaction
Super cool . Well done .
I looked up the definition of a "reservoir dog" and it is slang for someone who snitches to the police.
I'ma throw in a vote for Tubi Tuesdays pleaaaaaaase! Haha
Gotta do Jackie Brown next. Sam Jackson, DeNiro, the beautiful Pam Grier. Great movie.
You can light a Zippo lighter with a finger snap if you do it right. Takes practice, but you can do it. You basically need someone to teach you. It's all about where you place everything in relation to everything else. The mechanics. Whoever figured that out in the first place is an OCD demented genius.
The spin wheel on a Zippo is a hard, spiky, abrasive mf'er. You need the back of your middle finger on the spin wheel at top knuckle. It's painful.
It takes practice, but you can do it. It's difficult to pull off succesfully. Done it myself.
Damn! Haven't smoked in 15 years and now I really crave a cig thinking about this. Must resist.
Regarding Quentin's use of the n word: it really bothered me at first when I saw Dogs and Pulp in the theater back in the day. It made me uncomfortable. But, I soon realized that it was supposed to make me feel uncomfortable, and more importantly, Quentin's showing us that these are not "good" people. Even when they seem like they're not so bad, or they give us little peek at their humanity, they'll spout that language to remind you that they're not nice; they're hateful criminals. So of course they have some racist-ass thoughts rolling around in their demented heads. At least that's my take on it.
Thanks for your thoughtful, honest reactions and reviews!
Don’t know if you knew or not but Vick Vega (Blonde) is Vincent Vega’s (Pulp Fiction-Travolta) brother.
Didn't know until you all told us. That is wild how we missed those names and Marcellus name in here
Yeah.
The boy Quentin had a connected universe b4 the MCU…😅😂
💯
If you liked it and Pulp Fiction please, you absolutly have to react to "True Romance" from 1993 also written by Taratino.
He unfortunetly didn't direct it but his aura is all around and I'm sure you're gonna love it as much as Reservoir dogs and Pulp Fiction.
And what a cast : Sam Jackon, Gary Oldman, Val Kilmer, Brad Pitt, Dennis Hopper, Christopher Walken, etc ...
You want a film guaranteed to make you cry watch The Elephant Man (1980). They showed us that movie in one of my classes in high school and the whole class was bawling lol.
My Girl and Steel Magnolia are sad but it doesn't happen until the end. For some not so violent movies, ya'll should watch some of those 80's movies. Like The Last Dragon, Beat Street, Krush Groove, Short Circuit, Prince's movies....etc . There are so many movies to choose from.
The guy that played Joe was a real badass in his day, no fuckin around with this guy.
Of course, he's never made a bad movie, but if I had to choose one to only watch over and over, it would be jackie brown
Yes you are correct about jackie brown & pam Greer and if you see all Quintens films he merges movies together several Xs either with characters or in real life. Like in this movie yhe young blond curly hair, the son of the Boss ( daddy ) is Chris Pen and you noticed that Mafonna was in the Music in the resteraunt as they all started duscussing her and ger music, at the time of the film she and Sean Penn were married. And the one you call crazy that kidnapped the cop if you listen his name and when they talk, his ladt mame is Vega whuch is Vincent Vegas brother ( john Travoltas character in Pulp Fiction. As well as sever other cross refrences @ merges from other movie like talking about a hooker named Alabama, whi is Patrucia Arquettes character in True Romance Another Great QT movie. HE IS A MASTERMIND AT WRITTING AS WELL AS DIRECTING & acting !
He is my favorite writer love every movie hes done !
Inglourious Basterds and Once Upon a Time... In Hollywood are also top tier Tarantino. I hope you two can post viewings of all QT's stuff. You are so much fun to watch!
And if you don't do Tubi Tuesday, I will! That's too good an idea!
Hahahahaha don't worry, we plan to binge all Tarantino films and Tubi Tuesday's xD
Mr Blonde is Vincent Vega’s brother
A lot of people think Tarantino only makes film to show feet 🦶🤷
😂😂😂
I rarely hear anyone saying it’s Tarantino’s best, it’s his first though
Great reaction.
Thanks!
The girl smart af 😂
you've got to pay especially close attention to a Tarantino movie to catch all the quirks and movements of the plot
Funny arguing for 10 minutes about their names during the actual scene where they list them.. 😂
More Tarantino reactions! Check out "Django" or "Inglorious Bastards" next. Both amazing movies. "The Hateful Eight" is also another amazing Tarantino film.
Of course. We're making a new couples channel I'll be announcing soon but we both already seen Django
This was the movie that made him; his first big film. It's wonderful. You kids gotta watch Kill Bill parts one and two(it's really one film). Then Inglorious Bastards. You're a lovely young couple; all the very best.
Vic Vega, Mr. Blond, is Vincent Vegas (John Travolta) from Pulp Fictions brother
one of my favorite movies.
Damn must be some good tacos 😂
26:58 do Chris Penn and Jonah Hill have the same accent? Sounds so much alike right here.
Right! I kept getting the same vibes
This movie came out when i was Born😮 This shall be interesting 💨💨💨💨💨
You guys are some smart motherfuckers! That's right! Of all of the reactions to this movie, you guys picked up on things faster than anyone else. You've also contributed the idea that Pink can't do anything with those diamonds without Joe. He'd have to go to another country that's off the grid to be able to use those diamonds without suspision. He said that he neeed the money so i doubt he had the money to be able to leave the country. All he would have is those diamonds which would have gotten him caught. Great job, guys.
Yeah I agree with the Ms. It is a little slow at times
in the shootout scene I think Mr.Orange shoots first. watch it again. 48:40
Jackie Brown is a great movie. I like the post commentary that you two have. Great Content!
