Choreography & Performance by Ariadna Hafez ( / ariadna_hafez )
Written by André Musgrove & Ariadna Hafez
Produced & Edited by André Musgrove

After three years of giving my all to this project, I feel so grateful to be able to finally release this project today on my birthday. I really want to thank my friend and teammate Ariadna for dedicating her talents and skills gathered over an entire career of dancing and performance across the globe to do this project together underwater in my backyard. Most of the shoot days for this project would only be Ariadna and I out on the boat doing everything: driving the boat, pulling anchor, scuba safety, lens changes, logistics, production management, etc. This is only possible with complete trust and dedication to a project between the persons involved and I wouldn’t want to have done this project with anyone else in the world. Thanks, Tanis for working with us composing this original music for yet another one of my underwater short films. Thank you to everyone who helped us with the logistics of this shoot and pulled together to make things work despite the many difficulties we faced along the way.

This ballet was magical. Amazing team work, and her performance was superb. Bravo! 👏👏👏

🎞️📽️👁️🗨️ I thought you would show behind the scenes on Instagram. I'm curious 😣
Can't find any posts about behind the scenes...?

Does the dancer have her own public Instagram too?
PHENOMENAL. Those times she would just dance on the 'ground' like she was on land then suddenly shoot into the 'air' and hang suspended. Her breath control. Being able to do sharp controlled movements underwater? Everything. Everything is amazing
thank you!
I thought it was cgi
A work of art, the camera work, the coordination...
AMAZING!!!

Beautiful😍
The "How we did it" for these shots was actually cool as hell
Being a diver and a ballet dancer. I can’t imagine doing this. This is unreal!!!
Me, just a dancer. This is brilliant. I’m wondering if this was one, continuous piece? 💕
Forse fa nuoto sincronizzato
Long ago we used to be mermaids in a shark tank and we had scuba tanks, all hidden from the spectators view and we would take a breath so we didn’t have to surface as much. I’m just wondering how many hours this took or even days…this is just insane. 😍😍😍
MCP, forse 🤷🏼♀️
Also, wrecks are very rough, so I’m surprised that she could do this barefoot. Especially being in the water for so long softening her feet.

I can not believe this was done by 2 people. The description says the cameraman/director and the dancer pulled this off mostly by themselves. Done over the course of 3yrs for just 4 mins. But i guarantee I'll watch this a hundred times, at least. Stunning. And that backflip/split off the boat at the end was literally jaw-dropping.
Thank you for watching
No kidding, literal chills! I’ve gotta send this to my sister who’s a dancer.
I have so many comments and I agree with all of them ! I can only add one word, absolutely breathtaking!!🥰❤️❤️
Amazing
it took 3 years to make this? this truly is art. absolutely incredible, gorgeous.
Nope i wont fall for it. That's a mermaid. This is breath taking. literally.

I can’t imagine how difficult this must’ve been to create, but the result is incredible
Unimaginable technical challenges with zero communication. This is really incredible
yeah even with a scuba tank nearby i woulda struggled with atleast some panic being down there to film an entire dance sequence
There is an making of, i dont remember where cause someone shared it to me long time ago but i've watched it and yeah crazy and dangerous, they have stay in deep for hours, she take air from the cameraman bottle
It was a two years project apparently

Finally, TH-cam algorithms did a good job. 😍Spectacular!

Can we also just take a moment to appreciate the entire production team for this? All of it is incredible.
from what I've read, the production "team" was only one person, which makes this even more incredible!
That's what I was thinking. The time it took to make this shot after shot is incredible. I'm a film major and THIS was fantastic

@@Frieren_Lienel I'm talking about the dancer in this particular video. Her name is Ariadna Hafez.
This is hauntingly beautiful. The vast empty blue space, the sunken ship with corals and sand on them, a lady ballet dancing with no bubbles between her movement. Just beautiful. I imagine if a mermaid has her feet underwater she would've danced like so.
This NEEDS to go viral. This is the type of content that makes you see life from a completely new and fresh perspective.
It is a shame TH-cam doesn't promote REAL art. I can see though the right people are here to enjoy and understand the work .
Agreed😊
Absolutely agree! This is phenomenal ❤
It absolutely does!!!!
I agree, I don't think the song is the right choice for the dance, something more powerful might make it go crazy
Somebody needs to hand this filmmaker and dancer an award. This is amazing art.

Oh exactly! Good observation
@@RealCheeseOnlyCool owl pfp
Omg exactly the same! I never thought of that…very true!! ✨
Yes and I always hate that feeling. In dreams
Being able to do that underwater with such precision, she must be really athletic.
Part of me is thinking: this is art! The other part of me is having a mild panic reaction to the thought of how is she getting enough air!? Very impressive!
Critical thinking skill would say it is edited and air supply is given but edited out
@@MadenthewestDuh. But it was done with only two people, apparently. How did the camera man get to her in time, every time? I did a handstand in like 3 feet of water today. Since I was blowing through my nose to avoid getting water up it, I lasted about 7 seconds. This woman is doing underwater ballet without drowning, and she’s making it look easy.
@@Madenthewest I am aware it is edited. It is still a long time to be underwater for the duration of certain shots and it is still a long way from the surface.
@@kaitiecolbert8597 You should ignore the unnecessarily belligerent person. Not worth it!
Regarding the piece, they probably hide air tanks in strategic places so she can take breaths from time to time. Still, very impressive and hard to pull off.
@@1theatrechickThere are five people listed in the credits as being responsible for the safety. Not just two.
The fact that I was holding my breath while watching and then realized I didn’t have to 😂😂
Yes!
Haha don’t forget to breath Kayla
For real😂
😂😂 especially in full screen
Especially in full screen 😂
She looks like an underwater superhero during the last part. So strong and confident.
If you’ve seen that one Avatar movie, you’ll probably have your mind absolutely blown when I tell you that one of the actresses actually held her breath all the way through a 17-minute underwater scene (there were complicated practices involved, like that she breathed 100% pure oxygen from a special tank before diving.)
we live in a very sad time when art is not appreciated ...that video should be nr.1 trending and have billions of views because that REAL art ...
Thanks a lot, hopefully it can get that far

Why this masterpiece isn't viral yet???
According to the worst part of myself ... too much clothing.
Let's get it there
It's because it's Pure transcendental Art.
Not sexualized content to feed packs..!
Many people like @kedabro1957 would feel that it isn't worth it unless this is about a semi-naked woman titillating her audience in a loose seductive trashy dance.
I acknowledge that he claims it's the worst part in him.
I felt this woman's Feminine energy and Masculine energy.. until the whopping power that comes with it broke through.. that's when I realized it. We're so used to women objectifying themselves that it's hard to think of one woman as a person anymore.
I bet, What she feels is beyond what most women feel after all they do for attention and to 'feel good' about themselves.
She probably feels like she looks ..👇
Her strength and flexibility came through the dance... So powerfully. Her smile was the cherry on top. It felt even more powerful..❤❤❤❤

Also with less than a million views after 5 months. Glad I found this video.
@@Fantastic_Stranger I just found it too and the whole time I was thinking, I haven’t seen such a masterpiece on youtube for a long time.
That's how depression feels, the weight and pressure of the water, always trying to get to the surface where everyone else is, and not succeeding, learning to dance under the weight, finding a place in the dark/sub light alone. Thank you.
Zgadzam się z tym.
yes totally agreed thank you for this insight
🎯
This feels ANYTHING but depression(and i know how it feels)
Water is a BLESSING not a burden(not meaning as a symbol)
It is positive which is the opposite of depression
Plus the dancing is beautiful
Like a memorial
Not everything is a metaphor of depression
СПАСИБО!!! Это завораживающий, захватывающий танец русалки! Нереально красиво!
I like to believe that any spirits who live in this debris had a wonderful time watching the ballet for the first time in ages
(For the gullible and the contrarian - this is not a literal statement. I’m flabbergasted that this needs saying… )
I think this is modern instead of ballet
This comment is hauntingly beautiful
That’s such a beautiful thought. 🤍
Idk why but I almost cried for this comment
And the sixth angel sounded, and I heard a voice from the four horns of the golden altar which is before God, saying to the sixth angel which had the trumpet, Loose the four angels which are bound in the great river Euphrates. And the four angels were loosed, which were prepared for an hour, and a day, and a month, and a year, for to slay the third part of men. Revelation 9:13-15
A ballerina's fantasy to hold that leap as if time slows down and lets her remain suspended. Incredible!
That backflip into the splits ateeee 🔥
@2:35 Moved to tears by this scene!
Her ability to hold that breath is insane, amazing work!
How long do you think she sat the bottom of the pool to train for this?
It’s clear this wasn’t done in a single take, however, I still think this dancer can hold her breath quite long and is also a skilled free diver.
The skill level is insane
The fact that this is shot completely underwater absolutely blows my mind. Even underwater, the shots, the composition, maintaining the line of action and most importantly DOING ALL OF THIS AND SHOOTING IT UNDERWATER. This is art. The dancer and the production crew, hats off. This is amazing.
The cinematography on this was INSANE
when you are able to bend like this it must be sooo much fun to do this underwater. The absence of gravity but also the feeling of water surrounding you while performing this must feel like the ultimate sea princess experience we all dreamt of as a kid ❤
Couldn’t help but hold my breathe while watching..
I was coming to the comments to see if anyone else does this 😂 glad I’m not alone! I can’t help it haha
same! I nearly passed out after 40 secs.
Admit it, you probably also tried to beat David Blaine’s record at least once before realizing it’s extremely difficult to do successfully.
I teared up, so beautiful. Especially since the dancer looks exactly like a beloved friend that is no longer with us (and coincidentally was a certified diver and a dancer as well).
IF A SHARK COME,.... SHE'S GONNA BE DANCING WITH THE DEVIL UNDER THE PALE MOONLIGHT
A close friend of yours or a celebrity who pretty much everyone knows?
Better than anything multi billion dollar companies could dare to dream of. PURE TALENT. God bless ❤
I dont i’ve ever seen something so deserving of the word “underrated”. How in heaven’s name is this not absolutely viral? Not only for the sheer art of it but the amount of EVIDENT effort that went into it.
The amount of times she must have gone up to catch up some air and then come back again for several takes is just too much to imagine for me. Pure, pure talent it is, she must have insane body control ✨🥹. This deserves millions of views !!!
When she was walking with no cuts!!!! You better go head girl!!!
‼️❗️
She may not have held her breath for the duration of the video, but that doesn’t mean she can’t hold her breath for decently long at all! My best guess is that she’s able to hold it for around 2 to 2-and-a-half minutes.
Every time I want to remind myself about the capabilities of humans and how amazing we can be, I will watch this again. This was beyond words.
My thoughts are the same about things of this type. All the athletic people, all the dancers, and all the people in the world who are gifted in other ways are truly incredible, unique and in some cases even rare.

Sometimes the algorithm brings you what you need most. Today, it worked for me. I needed this beauty in my life.
I'm so proud of you for doing this - it must have been so so challenging to get all of those angles, coordinate for oxygen transfer, and choreography.
They might not have used compressed air. And at that depth you cannot use pure oxygen. My guess is that they did it on freediving, in multiple shots, taking her down for each shot and then back up again with a scooter. And yes, probably very challenging to design and shoot.
@@danielschechter8130just wow
@@danielschechter8130i think so too, but i cant fathom how thata possible. I feel like im suffocating just watching
@@raaaaaaarr
You'd be surprised how long you could hold your breath after a few days of freediving lessons. The really impressive part is coordinating all the shots in the time available for each one. If I'm right and they're doing it on freediving, they need a scooter operator (also on freediving) to take her down and get out of the way for the shot, then get back in and take her up again. Then they need to spend 5 or 10 minutes on the surface recovering before they do it all over again.
@@danielschechter8130 oh my goodness. I never thought of that. A diver to stand in her place so the film takes up smoothly?

I am constantly in astonishment by the magic of woman and what humans can create when deeply motivated and passionate in their craft. Well done. A million times over, well done.
I'm amazed that she either had no weight belt or that it was so well hidden- those things are necessary and incredibly bulky. This was simply spell binding. Can't wait for your next creation...I could watch this for hours.
She probably doesn't need a lot of weight. A custom set up with flat weights under the bodice wouldn't be terribly hard. I'm quite a bit fluffier than her and have a strong natural buoyancy and only need 12lbs of lead.
She didn’t need them I’m sure. To sink down and stay, all the air in your body has to be exhaled out and held that way. To go up and stay, you take the air back in and hold it. She def had to master her breathing for this.
@@stuff2047Imagine doing ballet for a few seconds without any air in your lungs and no air supply in sight. She had to be weighted somehow!
@@1theatrechick I honestly don’t think she was weighted down and it would also explain the 3 years it took for the project…but hey, I could be wrong 🤷🏻♀️. Maybe they will let us know but I doubt it, lol.
If you look at one of the director's Instagram behind-the-scenes reels, they used small weights attached at strategic points on her body. Very clever!
As a former dancer her skills, strength and flexibility are insane. A lot of flexibility training is pushing against resistance. If you can do the splits for example, gravity is helping you, imagine trying to just do them freely in water. That’s SO much harder.
Right? With a split, you generally have either gravity or momentum helping (e.g., a grande jete). Here it’s just pure muscle.
As a dancer, considering the fact that breathing is a very important part of a dance routine, I’m so impressed that she did this so incredibly smoothly without having to actually breathe. The control she had not only within her movement but in her breath as well is amazing. Bravo to the camera man and the dancer, this is incredible and such a hard thing to do! Great job and amazing execution!!
This is just one of those ethereal artworks you come across and realize how genuinely talented and unapologetically fearless some people are. I am always amazed by people who are able to make water their element like this.
This was beautiful. I wonder if she's a synchronized swimmer...her comfort in the water is evident.
She’s so talented whattt?? Her dancing is amazing
That looks astoundingly dangerous!
