Thanks for this.
I’ve got to be honest about your comment. Personally, I can do without every other thing in the list other than savings/investments and real estate and book collection. That said, not including having a mortgage as ‘owning your own home’, this is pretty hard for many to attain these days in our modern day climate. Not saying it’s completely out of reach, but a vast majority of folk are locked into mortgage deals and they’re over 40. Maybe even the same folk would say they own their own home🤷♂️
And a PS 5 lol
Solid

A purpose in life - a reason to get up
Definitely!
I like to read the daily news?
Depression set me back 10 years. I hate myself for it everyday but I’m grateful for the get back. This channel helps clear my lens.
Why were you depressed?
happy to help!
Real talk, I think theres a subtopic that could be had here cuz trust me, going up the ladders of life can be brutal. Then you see a list like this and feel even worse if you might not have certain things. Literally its just keep pushing man.
Own all of these but a passport & a consistent passive income. I'm working on it!
@@citi360 i didn’t handle a breakup properly and let my emotions keep me still
I’m 48 and everything O.G. Is saying is true. So step up your game boys and salute 👍🏾
Step up!
@cliftonsledge962 you have to plan to live and fight to stay up on your in game I am 47 i appreciate your honesty
@@davidlscales that’s what’s up brother it’s a journey for all of us 👍🏾
Thanks @cliftonsledge962 much appreciated you are cool salute
@@cliftonsledge962 so true and I am learning and I have few gray in my beard I am glade to be able to smile
Saved up for a year, and bought my first timeless watch at 25. Got myself and omega seamaster 300 and I love it!
Good choice!
Just be happy and confident. None of this matters unless your trying to maintain a certain image.
a book collection, tool set, passport, investments and savings, are for a certain image?? ok
@leonard sounds like you need to subscribe to another channel 🤷🏿♂️
Somebody has some growing up to do......
The book collection seems to serve only to suggest to guests that you read.
Why keep books around after you've read them?
Whenever I see someone with a substantial book collection, I wonder. Did he read these? If so, why doesn't give them to someone else? Usually, such people are posers. Pseudo intellectuals.
@@StuJones-gn7te You've never re-read anything youve ever read before? Interesting.
Feels great to be 26 & already own everything you mentioned in this video and more.
Salute to you Style O.G. another great vid 🙏🏽
Salute!
Liar
@@Richtown950 if you didn’t own everything mentioned in the video by 26, you can just say that lame.
Great video. I think another important thing of reaching 40, is finding a network of successful men around you. Of course you can’t „own“ this, but I think it is an essential as well.
I’ll be 48 in July. The only thing I regret is not discovering the Style O. G. sooner. Salute!!
Salute!
Well all I will say is you and I have found him now.
So let's step up our game! And of course salute!!!!
Get out of that Renting home Zone and work on Becoming that Ownership Zone!
Yes Sir!
Or realize that renting works better for some people. I'll never wake up and need to clean up a fallen tree that just fell on my car or my house.
Land ownership is real wealth. Because it's your own piece of the world, and land ownership was a sign of real wealth that was passed down from our ancestors. You also have the ability to create your own community and foster your culture on your own land. Get out of these concrete jungles, and own some land.
@@johnclaybaugh9536exactly. I don’t like that advice cuz owning a home ain’t for everyone
@@thescepterofjudah12 as a person who owns land its not for everyone. we have to stop saying blanket statements about certain investments. I own a small farm and things come along with that. Its a responsibly everyone doesn't need. Even when I owned just a plot of land in the city its time consuming.
It's so crazy that you dropped these videos before I turned 40, right before my 39th birthday. Jeff, you are dropping that content right on time. I'm glad I got the time to grab your latest videos.
Happy birthday!
PREACH BROTHER PREACH!! Are you all listening!!!
Own what ever you want and what ever you can afford Period
@The Style O.G: Lords will ill be 40 later this year, and a few of these important things you mentioned I must step my game up with like Life insurance/Health insurance/Tool set/better travel luggage/savings acct. Iam looking into a better bed, and a few other amenities. Keep up the great work brotha! Peace!
Peace!
32 years old and still going strong. I heard these tips before from someone else and it's always great to watch this video for a great reminder. Thank you and I have subbed
If you don't have any of these thing you can be alright too. (Life isn't always about consumption as social media would have you believe)
This stuff is entertaining but it is a different lifestyle than some of us have. I am mostly happy and don’t own any of these things.
Just turned 40 a week ago, speaking of.
right on time!
@@TheStyleOG Yes sir! Appreciate all the videos.🫡
Speaking of ... what????
Welcome to the party
Happy Belated Birthday! I turned 42 on the 10th so I’ll be watching with regret that I don’t own them all
Pro Tip: He said own a timeless watch!! Not a Timex watch!!!
Step up your watch game, player!!
Ha!
One could argue the Marlin is a classic. Or an Orient Bambino. Both of which are well under $500. Price doesn’t matter when it comes to being classic. Cl
Those watches ⌚️ are nice and all but I can't see myself without my Samsung Galaxy smart watch.
… a Classic Rolex, Omega or Zenith
for me 🤵🏽♂️
😂
Facts..get that passport, but having it comes with a lot of responsibility, namely respecting the cultures of the various countries traveled to.
agreed!
Turning 40 in 2 months. This list is spot on. The Passport will change your life if you havent got it already. On my 3rd passport now. Salute OG
Salute!
I've been to 10 countries, most without even owning a passport. I really don't have any interest in seeing any more of the world. Most of the world sucks and it sucks more and worse than wherever you are now.
#1
By 40 hopefully you don't need anyone to tell you what you need to "own"
Own yourself and you'll have more than anyone else.
Passport thing def hits me more I’ve traveled to my fathers country seen so much know I came back in a sense trying ways to make money probably in ways to invest thanks for video style og it’s good to be back watching your videos
welcome back!
I really like how you broke this down. Appreciate the value and sensibility in this video.
my pleasure!
I'm 40 now a couple things I need to get on this list appreciate the message I'll apply.
Salute!
You're always on top of your game... Great video you always deliver. Much love, Jeff. Salute.
Approaching 40 in 2 months. And this channel is dope!!!!! Taking notes
I wasnt really in the mood for another by 40 list, but this video was good. Great suggestions.
Big up to the StyleO.G. for keeping the man dem on point. Nuff respect!
Respect!
Man, keep speaking, that knowledge man can’t say enough about your OG
Salute!
I’m 43 and this all resonates. Grown Man Time!! 🫡💯
Grown man!
As always Jeff, you are on point! Dope vid!👌🫵🏆
Thanks!
The Style OG just gave everyone some real game. This was one of the best videos yet!
Thanks!
i am approaching 51 and i have 95 % of these things. Great list Style OG!
Awesome! Thank you!
Turning 40 in July. Let’s go 🫡✊🏾
I’m hitting 30 this year and this is vital!
hope it helps!
Thanks 4 The Info ...
So happy this works for you but this is not a measure for health and happiness.
I'm 62 and I think this kind of list is a lot of posing and posturing. I don't have much interest in any of this and I didn't when I was 40.
Thank you for a great video! The main thing I took away from having the things you mentioned is they all show evidence of growth and maturity. Your points on having a passport are very key. I’ve been an international traveler since I was a child. And I can tell you the world experiences have been helpful in my growth. Fellas - and ladies too - get that passport early in life. I know a few people who do not have a passport and they are really missing out on truly understanding other cultures.
great input!
I just turned 40 on Feb 1st
Happy Belated!
Turned 40 a month and four days ago. This video is right on time. 😫😂🙏🏾💯
I also wanna add that I have very little gray hair. And the little I have isn't really visible, except the few in my beard. Thank you baby Jesus. 🙏🏾😂
Happy birthday!!
Jeff appreciate what you do for the culture keep up the great work 👏 👍
Will do!
👀 @TheStyleOG throwing in a splash of financial literacy: compound interest & appreciating assets 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾 (Salute)
Salute!
I'm 28 but this video still worth my time.. jotting down values
not too early!
Great content as always. Reassuring to know that I’ve most of them from the list. Need to look into health insurance since I turned 40 couple of years back.
Thanks!
Love this video sir, although i am over 40 single not married and childless , this just reconfirmed what i ve known innately, there are few things on the list I need to bring myself up to speed on
we all do!
Another great video. Thanks for keeping us on our game
Any time!
Great content and great list , Definitely a few things i need to upgrade!! Salute and Respect OG 💪🏽💪🏽
Appreciate that!
Another banger from the OG
Thanks!
Got half this list at 33. Glad to see I’m on the right track. Can’t wait to add the rest!
Good stuff!
I got my passport at age 27, started traveling, and eventually left America at 33. I was at the brink of debt at 27 (due to credit availability that I could have used to invest), but decided for my freedom. And I’ve been gone ever since. Now I’m traveling the world as an entertainer living in Europe, and investing for myself and my daughter. I would urge any man, especially a Brother, to get your passport and see the world. Because there’s a lot of love out here that you might not get in the states. Keep the great videos coming and all the best from an L.A. Brother (and new subscriber!) living in Europe. 👍🏾💪🏾💰
Turned 41 last week..gonna check this one
Happy belated!
I turn 40 in November and have everything listed Thanks
No problem!
I'll be real with you. Im not getting a passport. I am a trucker and I travel for a living and i dont want to travel in my free time. I with yoh on everything else
Who needs a father figure when you have the Style OG? Words of wisdom here, as usual. Salute!
Salute!
@@TheStyleOG Speaking of things to own, I was wondering if you considered making a video on the top 10/20 bottles of wine or spirits to own? I for one would definitely be intrigued!
OG, I had all these by the time I was 30. I think every man should aim to have a tangible net asset portfolio, a loving family and be ethically, morally sound by 40.
appreciate the input!
Great advice. Thanks OG.
Any time!
Just what I need. Decided to turn my life around Im 34 year old man child. Started with my wardrobe thanks for the tips
You got this!
A timeless watch. How refreshing to allow your viewers to find the product that fits them. I had feared you would say buy a Rolex. Great list and very reflective of where a man should be by 40.
Thanks!
Great video Jeff. I'm 48 years old, and I'm proud to say I have most of these items. Two more items I think 40 plus men should have are a cologne collection and firearms. A good cologne collection should consist of at least 2 or 3 colognes for each season, work/office and romance & dating. Every man should have the means to protect/defend himself and his loved ones. Firearms (handguns and long guns) provide this. P.S. I notice when you mentioned wearing a suit, you were wearing a check pattern suit. Could you perhaps do a video on buying a pinstripe or check pattern suit i.e pros &cons, when to wear/not wear a pinstripe or check suit.
good video idea!
Salute Sir
10 years ago this list was quite manageable. I was fortunate to purchase a home in 2011 when it was a buyers market..
With the insanse cost of living, unprecedented inflation, and record high home values... These measureables you've outlined are going to be quite difficult for most.
Great, informative video as always.
Glad you enjoyed it!
I'm 33 and taking notes.
Salute!
Salute on all items Jeff. ✅
Salute!
I needed this. I just turned 40 in January.
hope it helps
Finally! my favorite video every year
long awaited!
Just brought a Sleep Number bed for like $12K. A lot of money but definitely much needed for a 40+ yr old man
great investment
I've read two of the books displayed ... Grant and The Passage of Power...
wise man!
I just turn 36 and it’s only 3-4 items on this list that don’t have, but ironically they’re on my list of goals for the year. I guess I’m headed in the right direction
You are!
I'll Be 31 in September. This is Great Advice to be ahead.
hope it helps!
As usual, anything coming from this channel is pure fire!
I appreciate that!
Oh lordeh, turning 39......
Brother you hit the mark!🎯
I talk to my sons all the time about most of the points you hit!👍🏾💪🏾❤️🖤💚
Love that!
Good list.
Wish you were around when I was younger
About to turn 40 in April 😤
sweet!
Books make you feel and look good.
This is great content
Thanks Kenneth!
Great video, i agree with all the points. Your one of the top channels i watch and have actively started transitioning my style of clothing. Along with other things, appreciate the info. Keep pushing it definitely needed for us 40+ smooth gents out here!
Great to hear!
This is a great video! I wasn't counting, bit the only things I don't have in that list are the travel bag and spirits.
Thanks man
You are so welcome!
I’m 30 and have marked all of this off the check list 😎
Nice!
As an insurance salesman myself. I recommend that you get life insurance as soon as you get your first job at 18. The healthier, you are and the younger you are is the cheaper it will be and you will qualify for more benefits.
wise words!
Great choice with the Cartier Santos. I’m was past 40 but it’s on my list of must have
Thanks!
Love it!!! 🤠🔥🔥🔥 I agree with everyone!!! and Im glad that I have ALL those things by 36.
Good list. I always find it a little funny, the term home owner. Most people who are called this don’t own a home, the bank does. Someday when they pay the bank back, they’re a home owner. But even then…. Stop paying those property tax and you’ll see who really owns that home. 🥂
Great video
Thanks!
Awesomeness. Something so cool I can look back on in 10 years. Thanks Uncle💯💯💯👑👑👑👑👑
You are very welcome!
I brought a 18k gold Presidential Rolex watch back in 2004 when I was 31 so that was twenty years ago and I still have it just don't wear it as often
I picked a pair of Johnston Murphy’s in 2000 and they still fresh. A good pair of shoes trees in some quality kicks are aces no doubt!
No doubt!
Got to cut off those IP's off the top back buttons. Other than that you on point.
Substantial savings these days is a little tough, but I definitely get it.
A watch for what though when we still pull out the phone to look at the time
The top three things you should own by 40 are a Roth account, a home, and stock/mutual funds/ETFs-and college funds if you have kids. If you invested $1,000 in Costco 10 years ago, it would be worth $36,000 in 2024. Material stuff is secondary. The worst advice was the bar; as you age, you should be cutting back on alcohol consumption and wine, too. Do not get drawn into buying whiskey, and cigars.
Good list O.G. I'm 41. A passport is a definite item to have. I've checked that off. I wanna travel to Africa in the future to explore my African roots. If I could give any advice to my younger self, I would say: "Get your passport and experience what the world has to offer." My sister has already been to Paris, Prague, Amsterdam, Monte Carlo, and London twice before the age of 40. I'm saving for that trip to the Motherland.
appreciate the input!
I had all of these before 30 🙌🏾
wise man
Just turned 40 in April
A collection of books that you need to have actually read. Please don’t neglect that part. It’s important.
And also owning a pair of good walking shoes preferably Sketchers! 💯
I clicked on this expecting to hate it...but he actually did a good job
Lol..
I just turned last week 41 I'm a year behind but better late than never
better late than never!
