I’ve got to be honest about your comment. Personally, I can do without every other thing in the list other than savings/investments and real estate and book collection. That said, not including having a mortgage as ‘owning your own home’, this is pretty hard for many to attain these days in our modern day climate. Not saying it’s completely out of reach, but a vast majority of folk are locked into mortgage deals and they’re over 40. Maybe even the same folk would say they own their own home🤷♂️
Real talk, I think theres a subtopic that could be had here cuz trust me, going up the ladders of life can be brutal. Then you see a list like this and feel even worse if you might not have certain things. Literally its just keep pushing man.
The book collection seems to serve only to suggest to guests that you read. Why keep books around after you've read them? Whenever I see someone with a substantial book collection, I wonder. Did he read these? If so, why doesn't give them to someone else? Usually, such people are posers. Pseudo intellectuals.

Thank you for a great video! The main thing I took away from having the things you mentioned is they all show evidence of growth and maturity. Your points on having a passport are very key. I’ve been an international traveler since I was a child. And I can tell you the world experiences have been helpful in my growth. Fellas - and ladies too - get that passport early in life. I know a few people who do not have a passport and they are really missing out on truly understanding other cultures.
I just turn 36 and it’s only 3-4 items on this list that don’t have, but ironically they’re on my list of goals for the year. I guess I’m headed in the right direction

The top three things you should own by 40 are a Roth account, a home, and stock/mutual funds/ETFs-and college funds if you have kids. The worst advice was the bar; as you age, you should be cutting back on alcohol consumption and wine, too. Do not get drawn into buying whiskey, and cigars.
Good list O.G. I'm 41. A passport is a definite item to have. I've checked that off. I wanna travel to Africa in the future to explore my African roots. If I could give any advice to my younger self, I would say: "Get your passport and experience what the world has to offer." My sister has already been to Paris, Prague, Amsterdam, Monte Carlo, and London twice before the age of 40. I'm saving for that trip to the Motherland.
I got my passport at age 27, started traveling, and eventually left America at 33. I traveled mostly with the us army in my 20s. To be honest, actually being in places I'd only read about didn't make much difference, though several were much worse than the books tell you. Paris, for example. I wonder if the French tourism industry pays people to avoid writing the truth about how dirty, smelly, overcrowded and unpleasant Paris is.
I would say that at 40, you really only need one thing: a plan to retire.
