  • Hi guys! Thank you for watching this BEGINNERS Spray Paint Art Tutorial - Episode 14 (Pyramid). In this fourteenth video in the series, I'm going to be showing you how to make a basic pyramid using a simple and easy technique. I will also be adding a moon and a galaxy in the background and in the foreground I'll be adding some mist and rocks.
Below is the list of materials I have used,
    - Something to spray paint on like a Gloss card or a Canvas or whatever you are going to use to paint on.
    - Black and White spray paint ( I'm using Montana white)
    - Some colored spray paint (I'm using Sunflower, Hot lips, Saffran, Night blue, Bavaria, Light blue which is from the Montana White range for this painting) You can use whichever colors you want to use for yours.
    - Clearcoat (To seal the painting and wet the paint back up)
    - Something to sign your work with (like a palette knife)
    - A mask
    - Some gloves
    - A straight edge ( A piece of card, metal scraper, or a piece of wood could be used)
    - A spare sheet of card ( To make your pyramid stencil)
    - Some weights (To hold the stencil down)
    - A round lid (To make the moon)
    - Something to make texture (Magazine paper, Newspaper, Plastic bag, or whatever you are using for yours)
    - A palette knife ( To put the highlights on the rocks)
I hope you will enjoy watching and find this fourteenth video in the beginners spray paint series helpful, If so please consider subscribing to my channel, and don't forget to ring the bell so you know when I upload new video's and please LIKE and SHARE the video it'll be much appreciated :)

Hi Céline, Thank you so much for watching, and for taking the time to leave these kind words and this comment, feedback, and the question I really appreciate it :) It's also nice to hear that my tutorials are helping you learn :) The cap i use for the stars depends which type of painting i'm painting, For the Beginners series i use the level 3 medium cap which comes as a stock cap with the montana white to do everything in the painting including the stars, and for my other painting i use a skinny cap to do everything in the painting including the stars, hope this helps :)

i dont know if u would do this but it would be really cool if u made a reverse painting so what ever color you use you would use the opposite of that color on a color wheel. lets say you use a black poster board to start off with then u want a black planet you would use white instead then a white sky black stars it would be really cool for my bday its coming up i really hope u can do this if not its ok. btw i like the planets it reminds me of those people who make spray paint art in las vegas.

Hi just started looking in to this art style . love your videos I am looking to buy my first set of spray cans and wondered if i should be looking for matt or gloss for space type pictures i have been considering the MTN 94 cans which mostly appear to be matt. I am also looking at buying some A3 250 - 260 grm glossy photo paper. is this suitable (for a beginner. Any advise would be appreciated.

    • @JonBarberArt
      @JonBarberArt  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Hi Tim, Thank you so much for taking the time to leave this comment, feedback and question i really appreciate it :) For the spray cans it doesn't really matter which you use, When i first gave it a go i just used some really old spray paint i had in the garage from years ago which was gloss has i didn't really want to spend much has i might not of liked or enjoyed it, that way it wouldn't of cost me anything, i also did my first 2 spray painting on old canvases that had prints already on them that had been in the garage waiting to be throw away, after i did the first one i was hook and really enjoyed it, so i moved on to glossy photo paper which i had already :) I think i did the next 10 - 15 painting on that till i found some bigger glossy card has it was A4 i was using, So glossy photo paper is good for learning on and also old canvases can be good too, I use both gloss and semi-gloss paint now i like using them both to be honest, but if you are starting i would say just get a black and white and maybe 2 colours to try first of a said brand to see if you like using them, as each brand is different from each other, and then if you like that brand buy more if not try another brand, this way if you are only buying a few cans it won't cost much if you don't like using them hope this helps :) Also if you a new to spray paint art my beginners series may be a help to you too :)
