I've never had trouble sleeping, and can routinely fall asleep "consciously", like what you're describing. The opposite is just as easy for me. It's not very often that I have dreams where I don't know I'm dreaming. And the most awesome thing is, if I wake up for a brief moment while I'm dreaming, I sometimes can go back to sleep and force myself the same dream I was having. It doesn't happen with dreams where I get mad a somebody though, which is a bummer because those are the worst kind of dreams. You wake up PO'd and mad at somebody who didn't even do anything wrong.
Colonel RPG I tried hard to lucid dream for months, sounds super awesome. ( unlimited cosmic power) then I was able to do it and it sucked. You realize nothing you do matters: flying, braking stuff, swimming in lava. Everything you do in a dream doesn't matter and you know it. Glad I don't anymore.
Splat's totally right - most of my friends (and myself) kind of blew out their party fuse when they hit 22 or so. A few more years and the amount of time spent out dropped while the amount of time being home and doing old person stuff increased. It's so strange since my younger self couldn't even conceive of that happening. Ever. But it does :)

Well I turned 14 and turned into an old man. Literally all I did was study and be a grumpy little arsehole all day. Now, I'm not as much as an arsehole (I hope) and starting to relax. So you could say I'm a inner button

The only reason to lucid dream is to not be afraid or bothered by bad dreams. Everything else becomes pretty boring.

Yup, had dial up until 2 years ago when I moved out. It lagged during MUD games, which was the only games I could play online with my friends...
