I 100% agree with everything you said. I appreciate the positivity! I've been labouring for 3 years and am about to start an apprenticeship in carpentry with goals to become a builder and now I'm so much keener!
Excellent video, thank you for sharing your experience and knowledge... If you're trying to convince people to give the construction field a go, you're doing an excellent job of it... When I was 36 I changed careers form one type of job, in front of a computer, to a job where I would use my hands and move more. The job I chose is not directly a construction job, (although it can be)... If I had of watched your video, I may have changed my decision somewhat... Anyway, great video, keep sharin' the knowledge!
I reckon these resonate with all trades to be fair (they do with me anyway working in gas) I also came from a hospitality background and once i'd had enough of that and quit my job I ended up temping and it was the smoko part of it that got me hooked for all the reasons you just mentioned. I felt that smoko was a privilege that was earnt by a good mornings hustle, and loved the importance that people held it as. As a chef i'd pretty much have enough time to smoke a dart on my own! The other part that I loved the most and thought I would dread was working outside in winter. What I thought was that i'd be freezing cold and hating the day, but the reality was that you were only ever cold for 5 minutes until you got into it, and then you'd get to enjoy the only part of the day that was any good (from 11-3) that office workers don't know about! Now that i'm office based for the most part I miss a lot of that. Shot bro!
Great Points, for some reason I really enjoyed it when we were up on a scaffold or roof, it really signified that I was doing something different to all the everyday people walking around down on the ground :) That and the perspective you get!
