    When AD posterized Wemby and then later Wemby went on a freaky sequence by posterizing AD back, blocking Christie and completing an alley-opp. This guy is gonna be special.

Those stats matter more. I wouldn't say Wemby's are empty by any means but tie goes to the dude who is on the team who is 2nd in the West.
      I think Wemby is great. He's going to be a superstar without a question. But I don't think people are being honest about him. Chet IS who everyone pretends Wemby is. Chet has better handles...and he's the only one of them who is a good 3 point shooter. Wemby is shooting 27.4 percent from 3 this year and thats consistent with how he's shot 3's his whole life. People were killing Embiid for shooting 3's when he was hitting them at 31%. Chet is at 38%.
      Wemby isn't the 7'4 KD everyone wants to make him out to be.
      I'll give credit to Wemby and say he's a slightly better defender. It's super close but Wemby has the statistical edge there. But then again...Chet is that close and playing for a team that, for right now at least, is one of the best in the NBA.

    As impressive as Wemby was AD was equally impressive. I remember old man Duncan having those “you reach I teach” type of nights against AD early in his career. AD would have some numbers which mainly came from athleticism and youth which is what we see here but still ended in a loss. AD’s vet moves helped him conserve energy and allowed him to play more where as Wemby is to active and bites on everything instead of using his length to alter shots. In a couple years Wemby is going to be unbelievable if he keeps on developing but I really hope he’s working with Tim and David in SA to sure up his defense and not having to expend so much energy to get a bucket.

And in the 2013-2014, he didn't take them anywhere either, and they were ranked 18th. "HE" first took them to the playoffs in 2015. That would be his 3rd season. Try again.

    If Wemby can keep that floor running up as he matures as a player, it will get him a lot of easy points that players like AD have historically been too lazy to get.

    I do not see the longevity holding up for Wemby in the long term. I do think we'll see a few years of really explosive play, and his skillset right now is crazy when healthy. The problem for me is there's already been multiple scary plays where Wemby just looks so unnatural and is falling to the ground like a Giraffe, rolling his ankles with 7.5 feet of leverage against it. Right now he is hopping right back up afterwards but the fact that this type of stuff is happening so frequently already really sets some alarms off for me. Especially since he has stated he wants to gain weight and fill out his frame - that sounds like a nightmare. Imagine rolling his ankle with 50 more pounds on top of the 7.5 foot leverage his body makes. Those little ankle rolls and trips to the floor are going to get increasingly more costly for him
    Excited to see if he can stay healthy, at least for 2-3 good years... but I still don't believe in unicorns. Everything I know is telling me he can't sustain all of this at his size and playstyle for 82+P

    • @DCIphanatic
      @DCIphanatic 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@Truth-time Kareem had an entirely different playstyle, in an entirely different era. The only similarity is that he's tall. Kareem also had a body type that didn't look like a giraffe on ice while he played.
      With that said, we can certainly compare him to Kareem if you want but I don't think you'd like what you see including injury history. He is 19 right now and still hopping back up after his spills immediately, he will not be doing that mid 20's
      I don't have to convince you though, history is going to prove it. You cannot be that tall, trying to play that type of game, and trying to increase your weight. Physics just does not allow all of those to be true. Either his game will need to change or he'll need to stay skinny. Most likely he loses a lot of athleticism and shot creation as he gains weight, putting himself at risk of all sorts of injuries from the added pounds.
      Your argument is like saying since Lebron and Kareem lasted 20 years that a regular human is going to be able to (or should) - their bodies are different and more proportioned than most guys who are just big. Expect greatness from Wemby but don't expect 20 years of injury free play - he didn't even make it to 19yo without injuries

    AD trying to show who he is to a 19 years old was a lil odd. You have to do that against your equals…embiid, jokic..Etc. Not with a kid. You are AD…compete with people at your level..and it bounced back at him because the kid put 30pts on you..it was embarrassing.
    Trying to send a message to a kid and eat 30 pts and 13rbds is embarrassing.

    NBA really needs to change the shooting foul rules to disallow the offense initiating the shooting foul. If the defender has already their hand there, it’s a defended angle. Same with the ever popular jumping into the defender being called “defender not allowing a landing zone.”

    Chet's efficiency though man. Chet's efficiency. Wooooooo! I know he rarely get double figure rebounds but still, THAT effieciency! I know Wemby leads all rookies in points, rebounds, steals and blocks(entire NBA, as I type) BUT! Chet's efficiency, man. It keeps tickling my a$$.

    • @HoopVenue
      @HoopVenue  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It's very hard to contextualize something like that, because it is a big advantage but one could argue that Wemby's situation just caps his efficiency in a way Chet's doesn't. In that same vein, another could argue that Chet doesn't have as much opportunity to fill out the box score, so it creates an awesome debate.
