I put the drain back just before the dribble was apparent, it was a veyr thin slowing stream. • @danburdick2749
      @danburdick2749 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      There really are magnets? I'm in the middle of doing this to our 2011 Sienna that I thought never had the fluid changed (no records of it from previous, original owner who kept track). I'm first getting to it at 155,000 miles and the fluid was black! Just dropped the pan and there are NO magnets in it! At least this verifies there should be magnets, and that someone possibly serviced the transmission and forgot them. Looks like I'll be doing several fluid changes to get this right (using the proper Toyota Aisin fluid).

    Just changed filter and fluid on 2012 camry. there is one tranny 10mm bolt that was a bear to get out. I ground down a 3/8" 10mm socket to be no longer than 5/8". It did the job, but a 1/4" socket would have been better. took forever. I just read another post below saying O'Reillys sells a low profile socket set. that would have been great.

    • @kimchee94112
      @kimchee94112 ปีที่แล้ว

      The video shows more room to get at that 10mm bolt. There is no room on mine even with a 1/4" 10mm socket, not even with a swivel. One guy said he got it out with a 10mm wrench, seriously my wrench had no room to turn. Don't want to jack up the engine, I will sacrifices a 1/4" 10mm socket to get it in this morning. Mine is 2014 V6 Camry with no dipstick, going by temperature. The filter looks different, need to notice if the three bolts are different lengths, on some Toyotas they are. Total PIA!

    • @MasterJacks
      @MasterJacks  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That would work as a starting point for the initial fluid check, however, transmission fluid has to be checked with the engine running in order to be accurate. When the engine is running, the fluid is circulating throughout the transmission and cooler, which gives a different reading than when it is static.

    • @MasterJacks
      @MasterJacks  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, you want to do the filter first, add fluid to the pan then get directly into the flush procedure. The pan is the initial pick-up location for fluid, so having clean fluid there starts the flush process with a "clean push".

    • @ElliotHYoung
      @ElliotHYoung ปีที่แล้ว

    • @MasterJacks
      @MasterJacks  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The one behind the wheel is the only fill location. Add the 3 qts then hook your lines up for the flush. After the flush, you can mess with getting the level right

      @ElliotHYoung ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you!! I really appreciate it! The only thing I need to find now is the return line. It isn't in the same spot on the radiator as on your car in the video, but my 2015 Camry V6 shouldn't be that different, since it's still a U660E trans and 2GR-FE 3.5L, so I am just looking for a schematic to find it. Definitely don't want to unhook the wrong thing@@MasterJacks

    • @MasterJacks
      @MasterJacks  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Unhooking the wrong line isn't too big a deal, but can be messy if you're not prepared. Just unhook one of the lines, set a bucket to catch the fluid, then start the car for about 3 seconds. If the fluid is pumping out of the cooler, you have the correct line. If it's pumping out of the transmission, reconnect and use the other line. Good luck! Thanks for watching

    FYI I just did this and used the MS fluid because My tranny specialist (30+ years) said he had a few people come back after a rebuild and started to get torque shudder at around 40-45 mph using the Valvoline max life, they changed the fluid to toyota ms and it went away ! take it for what it's worth, you can always drain the maxlife out, if you still want to use it, I didn't want to have any possibility of issues, I have a 2011 Avalon with 57k and just purchased it, I dropped the pan and everything looked good and I'm ready to refill it in the morning with MS. It looks like I got 3 quarts by dropping the pan, I have 4 to refill it.

      The total system capacity is 9.3qts. The pan holds a little less than 4qts. The rest of the fluid is in the torque converter, cooler, and lines. These don't drain when you remove the pan. After a filter change, you refill the pan with the 3.7 qts then start and verify fluid level.

    Great Video, tried to follow this procedure on my 2007 Toyota Harrier (same as RX350) it's a AWD. The problem is that there is no Fill plug (or dip stick) at least not in the location shown, I wonder if there is a fill pull at all, but if so where is it ? thanks

    Great video! Does anyone happen to know approximately how long it would take for a professional mechanic to do this job? I have a 2013 Camry LE 4 cylinder non-hybrid. My mechanic says both of his manuals call for like 2.8-3 hours and he told me that seems longer than what the job should actually take, but he isn't sure until he takes a look. If so, it would make a ~$350 job more like $480-500!

    I loved your video! It was perfect ! I'm now going to (attempt) to change oil filter and perform the flush on my 2017 SE Camry. The only question I have is does the engine need to be running when you are checking the oil level (with the drain plug out)? Another question I have is, are you familiar with BG products. I have run the BG ATC Plus transmission additive in my 2003 dodge 2500 w/48RE since 60,000 miles and in now has 216,000 miles on it and still going strong. in your opinion, would there be any issue if I added the BG ATC Plus Automatic Transmission Conditioner to this transmission?

      I also forgot to mention that I changed oil every 30,000 miles religiously

      @@GoPappy419 I hope the service goes well, thanks for watching! Yes, transmission fluid must be checked while running to provide an accurate indication of level. I don't see any harm with using a good additive.

    • @MasterJacks
      @MasterJacks  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It drains better when it's warm. Add a couple quarts after the filter change before starting the engine. You then need to start the engine to check and adjust the fluid level.

      Maybe roll down all windows and rest a leveled wooden plank across each seat row on top of the window frames so you can put a bubble level tool and check in the middle and at each side

      Changing spark plugs on these Siennas involve much more time and effort (and material - new gasket for rear intake) than for transmission. I did it - 4 to 5 hrs I had to spend for back spark plugs
