Started the same w a polespear around rocks and close to shore. If you're a good swimmer or kayak or boat the middle pilings of inlets during slack tide are loaded. Been doing it 20 years now. Have a couple $500 spearguns. Do offshore freediving up to 65-70 feet. It's addictive. Bridges are still my favorite. Load up on snapper and sheepshead
Wow, that sounds awesome. I'm still trying to find good places to do. It's been disappointing taking my boat all the way out to egmont from bradenton just to find out the water clarity is bad. I hope to be able to freedive like that one day.
@@joshnittle7678 cool I grew up in Sarasota. Any of the gulf bridge inlets in the area hold tons of fish. Newpass, Anna Maria Island pass near beer can Island hold big fish. Newpass you can start at the bridge and drift out to the point all the private docks hold sheep and snapper usually. Have to go at slack tide good vis though. Middle wooden bumpers
@@joshnittle7678 can't use paralyzer tip on real fish though. And I'd recommend a gun. You can get budget gun w reel for cheap new or Craigslist marketplace has people selling them. Or Facebook groups in the area. Ask if anyone has one for sale.
Time to get that dive stringer! Careful with Sheepshead on the stringer while you continue to hunt. If they have life in them and get the opportunity, they can and will bite you if they come close to the body while you’re lining up the next fish. Always have your head on a swivel!! Sharks will smell your catch at times. Best of luck and good hunting!!

Oh man, I bet a bite from a sheepshead isn't fun. I haven't found water this clear around egmont all summer.
Used to be a hole close to there that we would find lots of old bullets.
