How do you manage compaction from farm machinery?

Good question! Especially in my area (Scandinavia) where soil is twice as sensitive for compaction as in other areas.
We really should use machinery half the weight here...
But there are a number of things we can do:
- Lighter machinery
Not as easy as it sounds though as very few people cover large areas in a short time and need high capacity=big machines
- Reduced tire pressure
- Subsoiling (without turning)
- More roots in the ground
- More worms
- More calcium
- Less magnesium
My personal belief is that no-till only will not adress compaction, but if roots and worms are stimulated to replace the plough it can work better.
