The central mosque is build by the king or the community and it's not owned by the Imam but appointed by the community and ratified by the king through his signature. I your Imam doesn't want the king to control him, he should go and build his own mosque. The king doesn't control other mosques in the community because there not owned by the community or king. When you know that the king should not control you, you should not be the Imam of the central mosque but Imam of the other mosques.
