- Imamship in All Yorubaland (Ogbomoso Inclusive) is Both Traditional & Religious.
A number of us muslims are taking the issues beyond necessary. There is nothing wrong with informing the Soun before travelling outside Ogbomoso. It's only a notification, not seeking permission. Even kings writes the chairman/governor to inform the office of the Oba's journey outside his town.
It was said that it is part of the undertaking Imam signed upon his appointment by soun of Ogbomosoland to always notify the palace whenever he is leaving his duty post, he should do well to abide by it. after all, soun appointed him as imam after recommendation from shurah committee inside soun's palace.

The Imam is arguing in court that his office is not a traditional title and such does not fall under the purview of kabiyesi, and he said he will never be subjugated by Soun’s orders. The case is still pending and status quo should be maintained as court said. why then didn't you fulfil your part of the status quo, order, imam?
However the bitter truth is that the office of imamship is both traditional and religious. If it is not traditional, there should be no specific homes/families in Ogbomoso who are entitled to it(Just like he is currently Occupying the space), and the appointment shouldn't have been in the hands of Soun if it is not traditional. Soun appointed him. He signed an agreement that comes with the office in SOUN's palace, he was turbaned in soun's palace, the certificate and the staff of office was given to him by soun Ogbomoso untill all this was done that is when he could lead the prayer at Oja'gbo central mosque, imam should have done his part by notifying the monarch.
I don't know of any town in Nigeria where the Imam isn't answerable to the Emir/Oba.. Including CAN chairman/ Araba Awo or traditional worshipers head, the king is the supreme head over his town.
For example, in Oyo town the reason why the imam space is still vacant is because there is no Alaafin on throne, The late Chief Imam died after the late Alaafin.
I've heard in the words of the Chief Imam of Ogbomoso that if the late Soun didn't appoint him when he did, the seat of Imam Ogbomoso will be left vacant till another Soun IS CORONATED.. His own words.
The way Islam is designed is different, the relationship it shares with the thrones especially in Nigeria is unique, many don't even know why we have central mosques all over the kings palaces in yorubaland, like we have in Ogbomoso, Oyo , Osogbo, Ilorin, Ibadan etc.
Many didn't know Sóun chooses/selected/honours/ blessed the family that becomes imam in Ogbomoso today about 200years ago, many didn't know he gave the land and also build the mosque. at the end all online noise makers will understand.
Note, till today. the monarch Oba Ghandi Afolabi Olaoye Orumógege III, has not spoken, despite all the derogatory words from the imam and his cohorts.
Kabiyesi was told to make no mistake about it, some people who are not happy about his ascension to the throne are all out to disturb his reign in Ogbomoso.
A Muslim was there for 48years, he settled so many church crisis in Ogbomoso, the aggrieved who might not be satisfied with late baba's judgement never for once insulted the monarch or call him names.
23 princes contested the throne, only one was a Christian and God destined that he will become soun, less that one year, they are all out to cause problem for us in Ogbomoso because they've not healed from the shock of oba laoye becoming soun of Ogbomosoland.
The monarch held several meetings with us, he asked for our cooperation so he can help develop Ogbomoso, he even promised zero interference in any religion, right before us he said " I am not a CAN member and I am not here for seminary, I am for everybody, if you need me or my support for anything, please tell me, I will protect your interest" says the monarch.

I have been listening to this man and his speech for long, though he has not for once seek the peace of Yoruba land that signify the fact that his background need to be check.
