    Using a crayon to apply stone is MUCH EASIER AND FASTER , just press the crayon gently on top of stone and it picks it up🤗🤗 great video 🎊🎊❣

    1:08 first way: hot-fix (generally for stones that already have heat-activated fabric glue on the back)
    3:28 second way: gem-tac/glue (generally for stones that don't come with glue. on the back)

    Thank you so much for creating this video! During quarantine, I did my first rhinestone project using a hotfix tool because I was stoning shoes and thought it would be the easiest. I loved using the hot fix, but I rarely see people in my inner cosplay circle use them, so I was wondering if glue was better than using hot fix. I appreciate you stating that you don't think one is better than the other because that gave me such peace of mind that me using hot fix isn't "wrong".

    I use Gem-tac the most since I find it faster than having to hold the hotfix tool in place :D

    • @CaseyReneeCosplay
      @CaseyReneeCosplay  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I use 3mm 4mm and 5mm the most, if I use anything larger it's normally to be a statement pieces and then I hate using anything smaller than 3mm its just too small and I feel like I lose more than I use. I also like GemTac more because I can do it on the go, I have used it on a car ride to a convention before, it was a mess lol but I did it. Needing electricity for the Hotfix stones makes it more difficult but my favorite cheap 3mm AB crystals are hotfix so when I need a lot and don't want to spend a lot of money my friend the Hotfix tools is there waiting lol

    Hi Casey, love your work! Was just wondering if you know whether rhinestones are okay to be glued or hot glued onto velour?

    • @CaseyReneeCosplay
      @CaseyReneeCosplay  3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Thank you very much, I don't know from personal experience but I would imagine that hot fix will not work on velour since the heat will harm the "pile" of the fabric but I'd recommend doing a test with gem tac glue. If you are constructing the garment yourself then use a scrap if you are using a already constructed garment, find a hem or somewhere on the garment with isn't visible or gets little to no attention and try one stone and make your decision based off of that.

    Hey there! Super video and so easy to follow. Any tips on applying rhinestones to Worbla? Would you recommend just sinking them into hot Worbla or applying them separately with glue?

    • @CaseyReneeCosplay
      @CaseyReneeCosplay  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      This is a great question, I'm not really sure though. If you sink them into hot worbla you might create bubbles and have issues painting it later. On the other hand if you apply them on after the glue might not stick to the coats of paint for as long as say something like fabric. I guess do a test with both ways and see what seems to be the best way that works for your project.

    Whether using the pre-glue stones vs the ones that need the glue, which one stays better on the clothing when washed. I was thinking the Gem-tac because it's permanent. If the Gem-tac is a better fix than the pre-glue stones, can you still add a little to the pre-glue stones to ensure that the stones say on when washed?

    • @CaseyReneeCosplay
      @CaseyReneeCosplay  ปีที่แล้ว +2

    • @CaseyReneeCosplay
      @CaseyReneeCosplay  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I believe "Hot Fix" is the term to describe applying rhinestones with an adhesive on the back of them that actives when heat is applied. For example Swarovski has hot fix and non hot fix rhinestone options but if a stone does not have the hot fix glue it will not work with heating it up to apply. I've never purchased dollar store gems before but any gem that works with the hot fix tool will say on the package that it has heat activated glue on the back of it.

      It depends on what method you are using, if you use hotfix you will want to test it on the material first to find its burning level so you don't hold it too long and burn the end product. Otherwise, if you use gemtac you don't have to worry about burning but you should still do a test to make sure it doesn't discolor the fabric.

      I've found that GemTac has a stronger bond and buying stones without "hotfix" glue on the back is often cheaper depending on which kind of rhinestones you are buying.

      Hotfix rhinestones already have a glue on them, I would not recommend adding glue and then adding heat that's like begging for some kind of chemical reaction that can go wrong. Instead you can use just glue to adhere hotfix gems or just the hotfix tool to adhere hotfix gems.

      I think it's important to note that while e6000 is toxic AF if you are not going to be working for extended periods too often you are fine. And worst case, you simply wear a respirator. It's important to note that depending on the surface, E6000 may last longer in the long run. Less porous materials like plastics or metals, for example, would benefit from something like E6000.
      I like to think about the surface I'm gluing on, the size of the stones, and the wear or use the garment or project will have (for example burlesque costume pieces gets thrown on the floor constantly VS say a cosplay or drag queen costume). I wouldn't feel too confident using just gem-tac for stones larger than ss34.

      Yes it can, which is why it's important to do a test on a piece of scrap fabric before doing it on the final object, I'd also recommend figuring out the melting point on each and every type of fabric you use so you stop holding the tool to the fabric at the right time.

      The hot tool will only work with Hot fix rhinestones that have the glue on the back of the stone. I'm assuming the nail application rhinestones are not hot fix because that would burn the nail. I'd recommend just getting glue to apply the rhinestones unless you want to buy hot fix rhinestones to go with the hot tool.
