- Went to a local auction of high end collector cars, including cars such as a Jaguar D-type, Allards, Shelby Cobra, Mustangs Gt350's, and lots of memorabilia. Auction estimates for the collection we're in the 20-30 million range. This 48 Dodge Power Wagon was in a field behind the buildings containing the collection. The auction catalog stated may have served as a ranch vehicle. Being a western truck, it was solid with minimal surface rust. No mechanical history was provided and it was not in running condition for the auction.

You'll always be happy with it! Never sell it! Stay off the Freeway!!
As a EX-owner of one of these great trucks, change the brake master cylinder to a two- line set up as if you lose one wheel cylinder you lose all of the brakes that is why I am an EX-owner. as I was turning a down hill corner and lost a cylinder and went off the road and totaled it. Trust me cheap investment in safety. Have A Great Day!
I agree 100%. Sorry your truck was totaled. Thanks for the comment
THIS POWER WAGON IS SOOO SWEET! Thanks for sharing it with fans.
Glad you like it!
i worked on a '54 flat fender and the guy never came to pick it up. so, I drove it daily for 6 months! one thing I couldn't stand (being 6'4") was the gas pedal being on top of the transmission hump! I got such a hip cramp.
I know what you mean now, that is uncomfortable for sure.
I like the work someone put into the rear bumper area and bed.
Add some round tube to the bed and it would be tied together into a work of art. (Or leave it be and put on anything you like!)
Happy New Truck & Happy New Year to you and all watching!
Happy New Year to you, and Thanks!!
Awesome! Love those old powerwagons. Enjoy the project! Nice find!
Thanks!!
Sweet set of wheels. You got a real find.
Thanks!
That truck is beautiful!! Congrats!!👍
Thanks 👍
The original green paint is a nice color!
Thanks, I thought so too- much better than the faded primer that was on it.
I have a '62 that I'm slowly fixing......Vintage Power Wagon in Iowa is a great source of parts and info! Enjoy it, they are beasts!
I agree! I ordered most of my Parts from VPW
Great solid truck---Good build potential !!!
I think so too!
Nice rig man, I picked up a 51 Power Wagon last year and got it running for the first time in 30 years! I’m surprised they crammed a newer 251 in yours without putting the grille spacer in there to get the radiator/fan/shrouding position corrected. But if it works, it works!
Thanks! There is a spacer around the grill where the hood rests, maybe 1.5 inches or so. Probably hard to see in the video. The engine is just about touching the firewall on the other end.
@@GasandOilGeek tight fit for sure! My rig still has the original 230 with a little over 9,000 miles on it. Glad to see you picked this one up and have it up and moving under its own power, it’s going to be a fun project!

Nice purchase indeed
Wow would love to have that one Nice
Nice. Great trucks. I like your gasoline pump. I would be interested to see where you got that.
Thanks! The pump was found on a farm in upstate NY many years ago.

Thank You!
Nice truck.
Thanks 👍
You're a lucky man.
Maybe you could make a cargo box from a military m101 trailer.
I thought that could be a good option too, but I ended up making a stock looking bed similar to an original. (see my other video)
That’s nice . How much can you pick up a barn find for
Thanks! Hard to say, they are asking some pretty high prices for these now.
Now why would someone put bucket seats and a make out knob in the same vehicle?😁
PAPERWORK time 🎉
If you were uncertain about the breaks it would of been more prudent to conduct all test flights in your neighbor's yard. Great video!
HaHa- Good point!
it's a 251? without the extended grille? ? hmmm...
It does have the grill extension on the inner lip where the hood rests, probably hard to tell from the pics. 25" long head. Pretty sure it's a 251 unless I missed something ; )
@@GasandOilGeek OK, Now that you say that I can see it there, I just thought that was an ill fitting hood alignment issue. That's just not how Dodge did it, so I was looking at the front where it usually is. Ultimately, running the engine numbers (at 2:10, the flat spot on the block, just above that screw-in rubber freeze plug), to make certain what it is is your best bet. It could be a 251 or a 237 or it could be a 265. Whichever it is you are still a winner.
The : music: always ruins a good video, love to hear the talk and engine noises ect . !!
The motor sound is music ;)
