    Hi I'm relatively new to diamond painting, and find these tips really useful, however, I agree with you about not getting hung up on absolute perfection, which can turn an otherwise relaxing hobby into a stress fest. Initially I was getting stressed about diamonds that were not bang on straight, but then I thought, every imperfection is exacerbated by the light pad, when that goes off, any imperfections become nigh on impossible to see unless your examining it through a magnifying glass, and who's going to be doing that when it's hung on the wall? So I would say, aim for the best, but above all have fun....nothing in life is perfect.

    This was very helpful. I’ve only been DP-ing since December and I’ve finished 7-all with round drills. Tonight I started my first DAC square drill canvas and I was in tears. I wish I’d watched this video first. Something that brought me joy for 6 weeks was now making me cry. I pushed and pushed and pushed to align those squares so intensely I actually caused my index finger to bleed from gripping the pen so tightly. Okay deep breaths. Tomorrow I will put on a bandaid and try checkerboarding and lifting to align and aiming for the corners. Thank you for all the great advice. ❤

    Just today I emailed Diamond Art Club regarding drills that are too small to fill the squares. 36 colors only 1 that was not right. I received a response 10 minutes later...NO KIDDING-10 minutes!-to let me know they were sending out replacements. 10 Stars for Diamond Art Club!

      Unfortunately I have the opposite problem-the drills are too big-it’s one particular colour-some are ok & others are a fraction bigger so it’s put my lines completely out of whack when I realised! I got a bit stressed trying to fix it so I went to some other colours to de-stress & I’ll let the company know about the problem & see if they’ll send me replacement drills. Thanks for your tips 😊

      Sharon Pernes Hi, Sharon! Welcome to the addiction! I definitely recommend checkerboarding all your light colors. If your drills are nice and square and really uniform, your dark colors would be a great place to practice some multi placing. If they’re not quite uniform, checkerboarding would be a great idea for all your colors. I hope that helps! Good luck with everything!

    I’ve just started a portrait canvas if my mum n dad’s wedding photo and I have to say it has caused me a Ton of stress 😤 for the first 3-4 days .. I dropped a tray of drills on the canvas and had to pick them off individually and whilst doing this with the tweezers they were pinging off in all directions ( I would later find them with my feet 😖)
    I absolutely Hated doing it with a passion and couldn’t understand anyone could do this for fun lol must be out of their minds 🤪
    It’s a Massive size canvas to do as a first project and feel like I’m never gonna finish it (size of the canvas it 50x60 cm)
    Anyways I am getting better at it and it is less stressful but I am still looking for shortcuts all the time lol 😂 I’ve just brought a mesh ruler (Hope that wasn’t a mistake 🙄)

    • @tinyworldsofwonder

      Hi, Stella! Usually the gapping has more to do with the drills being a little bit too small for the grid than with anything you're doing in placement. I try to line them up as well as possible in the corner of each square so at least the gapping is uniform, but this is honestly one of my least favorite canvas quality issues to deal with. :(

    HELP! lol...I'm new to diamond painting and am learning the pit
    falls...I would like to know, I noticed a new square diamond painting I
    ordered, some of the square drills have a square on top and some a
    diamond...normal? cheap kit? I'm trying to use just the ones with the
    diamond shape cause they sparkle more, but the drills with a square
    ontop outnumber them. I don't know f I'll have enough to complete it =(

    • @tinyworldsofwonder
      @tinyworldsofwonder  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi, Mia! Sometimes companies put a mix of these different top shapes into their kits to add a little variety to the sparkle that comes off the canvas. Totally normal for some companies, although not every company does this or in the same proportions. It's definitely best to intermingle them so you don't end up with a predictable pattern in my experience. :)

      Good question! The background color printed on canvases is usually similar to the drill color charted for the symbol, but not always perfect. In this case the printing on the canvas isn't a perfect match to the drill color they're indicating with the symbol. 😀

    This is great thanks 🙏🏻 I am doing a square one too I prefer round I think with poured glue. I did a DAC round but the square one is harder then the round somehow the symbols seem smaller. Does anyone else find the symbols smaller on the squares. I have a light pad but fine it awkward to work with. I can only DP for short bursts at a time I can’t seem to sit as long as usually do. When I was much younger I could sit all day working on a puzzle. Now it’s twenty minutes sit then I have to get up and move and walk. Wish I had this when I was much younger! Lol. Question, but first, please ignore the photo & my name lol I let my 9 year old use my TH-cam account (shh for obvious reasons) and it seems she has learned how to make changes to the account like the name and picture.
    Anyway, I just started my first square picture a few weeks ago and there's one thing that is driving me insane and I cannot find anything about it on the internet and when I mentioned it on Reddit everyone said they never noticed it but will now have to look at their drills so that doesn't help. On the tops of the square drills I noticed that some have a square and some have a diamond shape on them. I'm super mad that I noticed this bc now I can't do my picture without doing it so it goes square, diamond, square, diamond and so on. Is it supposed to be done like this or does it really not matter? Like they didn't do that for a reason right? Or maybe only these drills are like this or does it not matter who you order from they are all like this?
    It's driving me insane bc I have to make sure I have the right one that goes next but I'm hoping if someone tells me that doesn't matter them maybe I can move on and stop doing it. Please help! TIA
    Also, the pen for the squares was not working out but using tweezers seems to do the trick. My mom has done way more pictures than I have and she said she's been using tweezers since her first picture, says it's easier. I do like the pen for the rounds tho.
    Ps I haven't watch the video yet bc I'm in bed and my husband is asleep but I sent it to myself since the comments say it's helpful. I'm going to watch it tomorrow.

    • @tinyworldsofwonder
      @tinyworldsofwonder  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi there!! I have noticed this, but it doesn't appear to be exactly the same - or even present to the same extent - with every square kit. I have done many square drill canvases, and it's only been an issue on one kit - one of the first I did from one of the Ali shops years ago before I knew better. They must have sent me a whoooole bunch of bags of drills with one top shape, because there's a definite patch of black drills that catches the light differently than the rest of the picture. That said, I only think it's a problem because the drills are all the same color, and I must have opened the tiny bags and put them in my containers in small bunches without mixing them up much. I've never even noticed on the end result of the rest of my canvases. So, that said, if you're doing a very large patch of one color of a lower-cost kit, you probably want to make sure the drills are "mixed" in your containers before you start, but beyond that I wouldn't waste too much energy on it. :) I hope that helps!

    Since my last post I've discovered something which really helped me to keep my darker diamonds evenly spaced. If like me you have black sections with no discernible guiding lines, but you have within those large expanses of black, the odd 'other colour' that you know you placed evenly, then use that 'other colour' as your guide, and work around that colour in the black in a circle like motion (for example, if that :other colour is red then place a black top, left, right and bottom of that red as evenly as you can) keep on going like that, and your blacks will look so much.better! I discovered this just tonight, and was amazed at just how much more evenly my blacks look now than from before!! I wanted to pass this on in the hope it helps other diamond artists out there. I'm thrilled with my discovery! Before I was doing black first, then filling in with the other colours, I now know that by doing the other colours first, they can act as your guiding friends. Happy Diamond painting one and all.

    I happened upon your channel as I started my first diamond painting, and caught a comment about using a light board. It wasn’t necessary for that first one (which was good, because I was away from home) but boy it was super helpful for the second painting which was blacks and purples, reds and greens. Funny note...the third painting I did was succulents with a white background, and the light board seemed so bright that I had to place a dark piece of card stock over places I wasn’t working because it was hurting my eyes. I accidentally learned on my next piece that my light board is dimmable 😆. Felt like a fool, but look forward to my next light colored work to take advantage of the lowest light setting.
