I've always been a Pi truther and seeing them demolishing the competition and taking home the first place they rightfully deserve brought a tear to my eye. Not only getting 1st among the numbers but also out of everyone... that's why they're the goat!!!
I think Pi’s performance shows how luck dependent the Koopathalon mode is since if a person gets a star at the right time, they could win it all just by getting the right item no matter how good a player is. This almost forces people to bag items like in Mario Kart to get a better placement.
(11:01) i know it's not the focus of the video but by god do i hate that article. in the article they said "with the amount of time in the universe and with the amount of chimpanzees on earth", but that ruins the entire point of the saying. the saying is specifically infinite monkeys with infinite typewriters and infinite time. it's meant to show that however improbable something may be, it's not always impossible. by setting a limit on monkeys and a limit on time, it undermines the complete point of even having that saying in the first place
@@cipeman3498yeah, infinite monkeys mean every monkey has a chance to immediately start Shakespeare, that chance is done an infinite amount of times. Infinite time means that every time a monkey types whatever the first letter of Shakespeare is, that that is a chance that the monkey has started Shakespeare from start to finish, if I worded that correctly
Since you can compute the last few digits of Graham's number, I wonder if you could have it as a special contestant, with its digits running in reverse. Also, I'm wondering if there's something to be done with binary representations rather than decimal. I was thinking iterated prisoner's dilemma, but that probably wouldn't be so interesting. Also also, I'm thinking about a June 28 special featuring τ with something circle-related. There are a lot of circles in games, really. Mario Kart... wheels... circles? Probably a stretch. In any case, glad to see another one of these. It's a surprisingly fun concept.
Wait you can do that? How, isn’t that number incomprehensibly large? I get it’s not Rayo’s number of incomprehensible, but I’m curious how they figured that out?
@ For comparison, would you be able to tell me what the last 3 digits of a googolplex are? Of course you could, they're 000. You could never ever hope to write out every digit of a googolplex, but you can still answer my question based on knowledge of patterns in the numbers you *can* write out. Similarly, we obviously can't envision every digit of Graham's number at once. However, we can at least conceptualize what it is and how we'd obtain it. It's basically just what happens when you toss the number 3, exponentiation, and steroids all into a magic cauldron. (I'm simplifying a bit here.) Due to this, we can simplify the problem of finding the last few digits down to computations that we can actually do, those primarily being other numbers obtained with exponents and 3's. I hope that this slightly hand-wavy line of reasoning makes it seem less impossible that we could find the final digits of such a monstrously colossal number. If this isn't enough, I can try diving into the full details, though things might get a little complicated.
pi and e probably did better bc they are not only irrational, but transcendental, meaning non-algebraic, meaning they cant be the solution to an equation like "x^3-x^2-2x-3" or smth. phi is the solution to X^2-X-1=0, and sqrt(2) is the solution to X^2-2=0. but pi and e are essentially arbitrary numbers that satisfy no polynomial equation. then again im def overthinking this
Love these videos! I've always been a huge math guy and seeing a concept where all these mathematical constants compete against each other always gets me super excited. Would love to see more of these (although I understand it's probably a lot of work to get set up).
Honestly it would've been a lot more interesting to see this on a more level playing field. Pi winning the first Bowser minigame because it got the easy one completely swayed it for the rest of the game

irrational Number Battle on Koopathalon. They’re Yospi, Philine, Wauler, and Toadroot. Who’s Winning this game in Check out on this Video…. or How think this name?
𝝅 came first, no surprise there. He’s a veteran and he knows what he’s doing. I can’t really speak to ϕ and e, I guess sometimes you just have bad days. But let’s give some leeway to √2. First timer, unfamiliar with the game, and had a TON of pressure from fans. #1 draft picks in their rookie season almost always struggle out the gate. I support √2, and I hope we get to see more from the up and comer.
we did do a second round that ended up not making it into this video, do you think we should release the footage somewhere? 🤔
yes.

yeah well lets see how well pi does when the keys are rebound differently! this is inherently biased against phi
Absolutely insane gameplay from my boy Pi, he wasn't messing around

No, pi is just the goat
There’s no way there’s gonna be bagging in competitive koopathlon.
Can’t wait for these words to haunt me
@@PixelGamer7890 it tectically works but only if you are better than them
Fun Fact: Koopathlon is not brand new; it was introduced in Mario Party: Star Rush for the 3DS.
Finally, someone who recognizes that game's existence
That mode was also called the Coinathlon in Star rush
Yeah but nobody played that game

i feel like it doesnt necessarily need both infinite monkeys and infinite time, i would assume that just having infinite of either would work as well

Also, chimps aren't monkeys.
I'm shook. That comeback was actually insane
When I first played Koopathlon, the first question that definitely came to my mind was "which mathematical constant would win?"
I think I got last place the one and only time I did this, so the fact that an irrational number got first place adds insult to injury.
Pi was motivated by their losses in the previous games, and came back for vengeance. I'm still an e fan for life though.
√2 got squished to death. It's gotta stop with the "Mom! I'm on TV!" trope and step up its game.
√3 would've fared better.

I can't believe rays didn't say "HERE COMES BOWSER!" in this video. That feels so wrong.
Give sqrt(2) a break. It's his first time.
