I happened to spray this for the first time this season last night! It was a bit of an impulse buy for me last winter - I already had L de Lolita, which I do think is in the same wheelhouse - but I love it so much! I describe it as an "oily" vanilla. I get more fresh vanilla/cola spices when I inhale, but I feel the cozy furriness supporting the whole thing.
Oh really? There's a Lempicka that smells like this? Interesting. I don't really get on with her scents that much. I wish I got more spices from this but, as my skin LOVES vanilla this goes almost gourmand on me. :)
@@pixienyx They are. And they both have the longevity that rivals Duracell batteries. My skin eats fragrances and L lempicka lasts forever and a day on me.

I think the reformulation is better ! The harsh opening is gone and they rounded out the bitter clove note . What a masterpiece . Less is more with this one is longevity is thru the roof

Sure, how you react to this fragrance depends on your perception. I do think that some look for a "dirtiness" that isn't really there though. The people who say this perfume is so animalic it's disgusting. Roucel himself said that there's no musk in this fragrance...! Or at least I've heard. I definitely get a lot of clove, but I'm fine with that. It's dense and moist for me, not fluffy or powdery at all. More like a pound cake. Maybe at the VERY end of the day I can sense a tiny tiny animalic twinge, but that might just be my hair >_> Maybe I'm bad at smelling those notes. I think I got the reformulated bottle because it was made in 2014. Hehe I LOVE long replies!!! I definitely get an animalic tone from this but it's tamed by all the vanilla. This one is so super sweet on me it's almost gourmand. Interesting stuff for sure! :)
Online Reviews gave me the impression this would have that oud barnyard smell, but it doesn't. I was pleasantly surprised how easy it is to wear. I wear the body oil b/c its more affordable and less intense. It has that spicy/gourmand/earthy thing coromandel offers.
I agree... I expected it to be more of a animalic smell given what ppl have said about it ...I get more of a tobacco vanille thing with the clove amped up...good none the less
I have the original discontinued oil version of this. It's smell like a cinnamon cookie with a bitter dirty musk. They must have taken alot of the spices out in your version.
i would love to sniff it! some people say it similar to L by lolita lempika...if you want to smell animaliq musk you should try original musk by kehils. thank's for sharing!
I recently purchased a sample of this. At first, I loved it, but in the dry down it becomes very boring to me. I have not found a Frédéric Malle fragrance that is worth the money yet. At first sniff, I thought this was going to be the one, but I was wrong. If it smelled like the opening for the entire wear length, I would have to have it...no, I would already have it.

Musc Ravageur on me is mostly vanilla/cinnamon. It gives off a gourmand vibe and nothing animalic. I don't get the dirtiness others talk about.

Same perfumer. L is a slightly more femme version. But they are pretty similar.

When people who don't have much knowledge about fragrances say a perfume smells "musky", they really mean "heavy".

Can't say i find it dirty but wish i did. Still, one of my all time favourites that i prefer in the warm weather.
I can smell a tiny bit of dirty musk going on in here, but it's only really in the wet stages, it's a strange one this one but I really like it. :)
