ABBA are great. For some reason, I often forget how much I like them, but then I come across one of their songs, and I remember.

Has just the right amount of sugary-70s, pop deliciousness to keep the tune stuck in your head for decades.

@@donaldduck2139 I've had them on my playlist for years and years. I never get tired of them. They created songs that people always seem to love, no matter what year it is. (and even stand in line for hours to see "Mamma Mia" on broadway).

Thanks for the ABBA. Yewith us.ah the guy's wrote great songs. But no one could have sold them like Agnetha and Frida. Love watching Frida dance in this one. And the way both girls took turns flirting with us.

Hey Hap, I went to the ABBA museum in Stockholm Sweden ! It's amazing when you see their outfits and realize how thin and tiny they are. It was fun. You can even do virtual ( holograms of them) karaoke. Cute day.

Good morning again for second time
I enjoy with your reactions to ABBA songs
(You are in the Podium of reactors)
"Take a chance on me" (1978)
is one of their best ABBA hits in all the world, and the most sailing song of ABBA in U.S.
    (more than Dancing Queen)
and one of few song than the vocals are more extensive than the music
(They begin 'a capela' and singing at the end)
the blonde Agnetha is the lead vocal, her voice is so powerful, in perfect armonies and chorus with Anni Frid in co-leads vocal (and the boys in back voices singing repetitive the frase 'take a chance, chance')
the guitarist Björn got the idea while hiking or jogging,
by the sound of the footsteps he interpreted t-k-t t-kt and adapted it to "take a chance"
and so the song was born
Although it is a disco pop, it is like a constant and happy march, captivating, cloying and addictive
In the video the absolute center is the girls, very suggestive
A clarification: it was filmed a month after Agnetha's second motherhood, so she had not yet recovered her pre-pregnancy figure
I hope You continue with your fantastic ABBA journeys
I think that Thank you for the music is a wonderful song to a next reaction
    My best regards from
    Buenos Aires Argentina

Almost as many visual hooks in the video as there is in the track itself. Fun Fact the "tk-a-chance-tk-a-chance" backing rhythm of the song came to lyricist Bjorn when he was our running (super fit Bjorn even ran marathons in Stockhom). The budget for ABBA's videos was tight but with director Lasse Hallstrom they came up with some great ideas. Even with a fun song like this, the lyric is still pretty sad. This protagonists being so into this guy she'd still be willing to be his significant other when 'all the (other) pretty birds have flown!, although I love your idea that the protagonist is actually the chaser which is entirely plausing because those ABBA ladies were no shirking violets and both contributed so much to the legacy that still stands today. Carry winking Hapz!

Thx !The song is lighter and humorous than some of their others, but it is full of creative ideas, the beginning to cappela, the breaks, the voices of the boys who come superimposed to enrich the harmonies or at other times add small melodies almost against time of the songs of the girls. Despite the humorous side, it's a very creative piece, intelligent in my opinion.

Great band!! This band is from Sweden ( maybe with her one but I am 90% sure it's Sweden). Bandmates could only speak their native language. Their manager told them they had to learn how to speak English if they were ever going to become popular in America. The manager was correct and just and was very very popular between about 1977 - 1978.

      You are talking about U.S.
because the major ABBA hits in US was Dancing Queen #1 (1977) and Take a chance on me #3 (1978)
but ABBA was famous from 1974 with your iconic song Waterloo winning Eurovision
and leads charts in all Europe and several countries around the world from 1975/1981

listen to Erasure Abbaesque Take A Chance On Me pays tribute to ABBA pretty sure as it looks a parody in all fairness I think they were in part serious paying homage to ABBA at the same time taking the piss out of themselves more than ABBA

Music videos weren't a thing in the 70's ABBA had been a trendsetter also in that regard. All videos were directed from Lasse Hallström, becoming a famous director in Hollywood later on. ABBA made videos to be in the media, because Agnetha didn't want to travel too much and didn't want to be allways in tour, because of her children.

Hello, so nice to see you again today with more ABBA song
"Take a chance on me" (1978)
was their seventh #1 in U.K. Official Charts
and pick at #3 in Billboard 100 U.S.
(and the most sailing ABBA song in US)
"Take a chance on me" is so happy and catchy, beautiful voices (leads by Agnetha) and harmonies, great rythm and melody, amazing begining 'acapela', is a fantastic song!
in my Top 10 of all ABBA songs
And the video is so funny too Was the first film after Agnetha second's pregnance
You are in the most vetsatily "ABBA The Album"
You did before "Hole in your soul" live
There's a lot of greatest songs like
"Eagle" (opening track, almost six minutes)
    and the classic
    "Thank you for the music"
There's a TV show in Gernany 1978 that ABBA performing both songs in a sequence:
    th-cam.com/video/5m3tKmLI11Y/w-d-xo.html
