Hi, I use a dual laptop setup to stream. I have this capture card however there's no audio from the game or from my mic (SteelSeries Arctis 5). Any advice you can share is highly appreciated. Thanks and more power.
@@ador7572 in obs add a "audio input" source and select usb. you should see levels moving from capture card now, if you would like to hear it as well make sure you have monitoring on for that audio input in advance audio settings

I bought one on Amazon this week and it has been great. It was $40, but it has the loop through on it and it's 1080p with 60 fps. Both the video and sound are great. It was a relief to find that out since I can't afford the expensive ones.

Hey can you help me I'm trying to find out how to set up one of those capture cards and the HDMI splitter to live stream and record videos with my Android phone which is an Alcatel 3 to PC. Hey Phae, connecting your phone isn't always super easy. If your device has a cable that can send out an HDMI signal, then it's EZ PZ where you just connect that cable to your phone and then to the capture card/splitter to send the signal to your PC.
However, if there isn't a cable that supports that for your device, you'll need to either put an android emulator on your PC and play there or send your phones image to your PC via usb or wirelessly with an screen mirroring application. It makes a huge difference. I played in the TV back in the day that had a slow response time. I couldn't figure out why i all of a sudden sucked. That delay is a killer for fps games. Once I switch to a low latency screen, I was golden again.

Its great for sure. I was skeptical until I had it. For the price, this thing is killer considering what i paid back in the day for a capture card similar to this.
Something to note is that if you're using it for a camera, it can do 720p at 60FPS. For a smaller window, like a small corner face cam, you can get some sweet 60FPS goodness.

I bought this thing on a whim on Amazon to hook up my daughter onto twitch, I love it the setup was pretty dang easy with a TH-cam tutorial. The only drawback is you really do need an HDMI splitter. I went ahead and bought one with four plugs, partially because it was the only one there and also I have so many devices and sick of having to unplug the ones in the back and have to plug in the new one.
I know your pain. I used to have to manually plug and unplug hdmis a lot when I started.
I picked up an HDMI splitter but I can't seem to get sound to OBS now...I was able to get sound without the splitter so I'm not sure what's happened any suggestions?
Replying for anyone else who has thing issue. I closed down OBS unplugged the capture card, plugged back in and turned OBS back on...works...so ya there we go lol

Been using this device for console streaming. It worked so well, I ordered 4 more so I can connect multiple consoles for streaming with my teenage boys. I got it for 8 dollars on eBay.

@@Activater right, let's be real, I'm not the next Doc or Ninja. I just got 5 capture devices for half the price of a used Elgato card. The kicker in my opinion is this, most people watch on their phones and you only need 720p @ 60 to look good on the small screen.
How did you get the audio? I cant seem to get any audio from my ps4
I stream Xbox, and didn't have an issue picking up audio. I use this capture device, Ubuntu Linux, and OBS. It was pretty much plug and play. Not sure if maybe it's a Windows issue. Here is a troubleshooting guide you can try to get HDMI capture going if you have issues with it in the link below. Another thing to remember first though, we are buying unbranded $10 capture devices. I would guess that they may cut a corner on quality control.

Hey I also have Panasonic camera, but the source doesn't show up in OBS when I add "video capture device" (It does in window's device manager). My HDMI output settings in camera are set correctly.. Did you have to change anything to get it to work?

Your moving camera is making me nauseous, otherwise good video.
I get it. There're about 5% of people that are affected by the camera. I think it's due to all the cuts in the video, but it's hard to pin point why a few people get motion sickness. Thanks for watching regardless dude!

Some people are affected like this. Pretty wild but understandable. It's similar to people who can watch movies that are handheld cameras.

Thanks for this, getting a laptop for Christmas and wanting to add things to my streams besides the basic ps4 set up and was having trouble finding a good capture card that isn't going to break the bank
This thing is well worth it. I would recommend getting a small usb extension cable for it. I've heard a couple reports that it gets hot and potentially causes a black screen if plugged directly into the pc.

I've just bought the same two devices but for a different reason, to upload recordings from my Sky box to my PC. HDMI through the dongle then hopefully the splitter will defeat the HDCP.

I’ve been happy with this for the cost. I picked mine up for under $11 on eBay when I did my video review on it. When you weigh the cost versus what it does this thing is unmatched. It’s an awesome way to get people with little funds away into streaming or even TH-cam recording.

Hey man, so I was thinking about buying one of these. I want to dual PC stream on a budget because I already have 2 pc's. So would you recommend it for capturing signal from my Main PC and using an other output from my GPU for my monitor (display port). Already have the audio figured out with voicemeeter and was debating on this.
100% you should test it! I think you have a solid mindset on this. Give it a try! If you dont want to spend money, look into NDI. That'll transmit the signal over your ethernet cables.

Yo. Just wondering. Can you just plug it into a USB on your PC then loop the HDMI cord to your graphics card?
Like, take the signal from the capture card and send it out of your graphics card? Technically you could do this, but it would still have the delay effects as you have in OBS. basically, you'd need to plug that HDMI cable from the GPU to a tv or monitor so that your pc would recognize it. Then with OBS, you would right click the main preview, then select "full screen projector preview, then select that tv or monitor. it will send whatever is on your obs to your TV/monitor. However, you could also right click on ANY source and project that to the tv/monitor by itself. Just need to make sure you right click on the source itself rather than the main obs preview monitor.

@@Activater id imagine B roll or cutting to a 2nd angle before cutting back to the moving camera might help it be less Jarring the moving camera is 100% your style though so it'd be a shame to lose is completely...
I think you're right. Maybe a second angle that's the same as this angle but something I could cut to at times. Maybe a close up or even a wider shot.
How do you fix the audio delay for the people who are watching you?
Audio for your mic or the game audio?
For mic, you could always add a delay as a filter for the audio source that is too early compared to your video or a video delay if your audio is too late.
For game: it should be in sync with the video, if not, try above.
I'm so confused how the camera is so damn crisp. Mine in OBS is unbelievably grainy but when recording on the camera itself it looks great.
Using the a5100 for reference.
It's most likely your ISO on the camera being too high. Do a test, where it currently is for your OBS setup, just hit record on your camera itself. Once you record a few seconds, take the camera outside and adjust the settings (ISO first, then shutter speed) so you can see outside and record again. Take those files and put them into your OBS as media sources and just look at them. Most likely the outside will look good.
The key is to get the lowest possible number on your ISO as well as your F-Stop of your lens. Then you want to keep your shutter speed at about 1/50 or 1=/30.
If you can't see after setting the settings, you gotta increase the light in your space.

I used this capture card to record Final Fantasy 10 on the PS2 console with a acv to hdmi converter and I was pissed that it was good enough to get some in game cutscene down better than in-game movements. I'm gonna play with OBS settings more to see if I can record with the CC(Capture Card) smoothly next time .

I think it wouod be great. However, depending on your games, you may want one of the capture cards with a loop through so you can send a direct hdmi signal to a monitor or tv for gaming.
When just using the capture card, there's a subtle delay that is noticeable with competitive FPS games.

It does not come with an extension. Some do, but those usb cable extensions are super cheap too.

I have gotten this capture card and had no idea a splitter was needed as it was not mentioned with it. this seemed like it could just be plug and use but my question is the hookup how do you get this to display the picture on the tv? I am missing the splitter portion and seems hard to play in obs due to there lacking sound and my preview screen has most of the large sized screen cut off so that is my other issue. is there anyway to get ps4 to display on the tv while using this thing?
I mean, you don't really need a splitter unless you're trying to do a specific thing. However, you are trying to do more than just capture the image.
Couple things you can do:
-Splitter: You need this to show on a TV/record on a PC. Some capture cards have this built in sort of but with this specific usb capture card, you need a splitter unless you can plug your PC into your TV and play on that?
-Sound: Make sure when you hook up your capture card that audio is being sent out of the HDMI device. Then, in OBS, you add a video capture device. At the bottom of that screen, you can see "use custom audio". Select "USB Audio". Then, in your "Audio Mixer" area in OBS, select the little settings cog next to your audio and go to advance audio properties. From there, you can tell your audio to "monitor and output" which will play your audio to your default audio device like your speakers/headphones.
-Preview screen cut off: Right click your video source, go to "Transform" and select "fit to screen". Your canvas may be set to 720p so if your capture card is set to 1080, it'll get cut off.

You can download software at any point. You will need some sort of software like OBS to see anything.

Hmm, have you tested plugging your cam into a TV or monitor? Just to rule out the hdmi cable or camera settings.
Thanks for the video! I actually use two of these capture cards. One I use for my XBOX to pc with an hdmi splitter for my gaming monitor and another one for my Sony a6000. I use SLOBS and everything works great for my streams. I bought each for cheap but I encourage folks to use your link for their purchases. I also have my settings for 1080p 60fps for both captures but reduce it on stream to 720p 60fps cause my pc is slow lol. I’ve been using for about over a month and everything is working well!

Im trying to setup my stream so I can run my Sony a6000 as well! Its great to hear that it actually works. I am waiting for the Capture card to ship. My question is, do I also need the splitter if I plan to stream from my PC? I'm kinda confused on what the splitter exactly does. The end goal is to use my a6000 as a webcam and then stream my games from my PC! Thank you in advance for any help!
Bryan Agahan I use a splitter because I run my gaming on an Xbox. So for me to have as little video latency as possible for my games I split the hdmi signal to my monitor for gaming and to the capture card for the pc to be captured in SLOBS. I’m f you’re all PC based you won’t need a splitter

Ah.. I got one a few days ago and it worked a charm for my streams then suddenly it just kept showing as a black screen. Funny thing is my pc recognises that it's connected but I'm trying to figure out whether its the capture card failing on me or something magically changed after I streamed. My settings haven't changed though so it's kinda odd, any suggestions?
I've started to hear this about the device. I use it with a little USB cable extension rather than directly plugged in. Have you by chance has it connected directly to a usb port on your pc or were you using an extension cable like me?

Try that, but it may have overheated to the point where it potentially broke. I've been hearing this more and more. Good thing it's a cheap device. HOWEVER, I have mine on a usb cable and it works like a charm and hasn't faulted. Hopefully the cable will help!

If it has hdmi, yes! However, consider if the camera can remove its onscreen overlays.
I would get it plus the correct hdmi cable for it and plug it into a TV to look at it. If you can't hide the menus and what not, then use this capture card if you're happy with it!

Absolutely. First off, thanks!! Second, what's your budget for both of those? Are you looking for a webcam, or a higher end camera that is a step up from a web cam? For the headphones: wireless or wired? Also, does you need a mic on the headphones?

The webcam on my HP is so-so, so improvement there would be great. I may have a HD Sony Camcorder laying around somewhere, but I haven't seen that thing in a long time. Just in case, a webcam recommendation would be great. Headphone with a mic is also the target. All in for both: about $150, but I am flexible if there is much improvement in the price tier above wat 75-100 each pulls in.

I'm using the same cheapo HDMI capture.
I connected the laptop to PC monitor and the video is pinkish / purple now.
It was good the last time I used it connected laptop to smart TV.
Do you know what could be the issue here?
I've tried 2 HDMI cables and still the same.
Try a different port on the laptop? Try a USB extension cable? Lastly, test plugging your device into a TV or something just to make sure its still working properly
I'm getting rainbow lines on my obs studio on my laptop. I've got a hdmi splitter so one output feeds to my TV monitor whilst the other output feeds to the game capture USB then my laptop. Without plugging the game capture USB into my laptop so only one output being plugged to my TV monitor it works fine. The moment I plug the USB into my laptop, my TV monitor goes black and flickers. Does anyone have any advice for this?

It is! I just thought to bring something new to the table while streaming on Twitch and it carried over to here with my YT vids.
Blurry moving backround is so distracting, the effect could be really good for some dramatic stuff but not all the time IMO.

How do you get stereo sound with windows 10 using obs? My usb video capture device only output 1 channel mono. Stereo mix does not work. Please help
in your "Audio Mixer" where the little settings cog next to your audio is: If you go to "advanced audio properties", does the little "Mono" box have a check on it?

You don’t need to buy a video capture for hdmi. I connected my Canon 5D Mark III to my 2020 iMac with a USB cable that comes with the camera and with free open source software, Camera Live and Camtwist, and then I use free OBS. Works like a charm-all free.
Yes, this. 100%. However, not all cameras have this and a capture card can also capture a game console, another pc, or anything else with an HDMI source. Also, not this particular device, but the capture software will allow for a max of 30fps if that matters to you. :)

So I bought the same cheap capture card and connected it via HDMI to my GH5 camera, but it doesn't show up in OBS when I try to add a video capture device.. (It does show up in window's device manager though) PLS HELP... I need this to work for a job I have this weekend :/

Honestly, its the cheaper option as long as you don't mind setting up hot keys in OBS to do the things that the ATEM does. I would also reccomend usb extension cables and/or maybe a hub to plug them all in to.

oof, I thought I answered this. I generally plug my console mic into my console, and have a separate mic for my PC. Also, I end up sending the audio from party chat to my pc by setting the console to send the audio over speakers rather than headset. I have heard that directly plugged into your PC sometimes has issues. However, I've had mine plugged in with a USB extension and it runs all day with no issues.
At 4:50 , you said you made a tutorial on how to stream games with that capture card (I know you said it isn't the best idea, but it's for more of a strategy game so it would be fine.) I can't find that video, can you link it in the replies please?

Hey. Quick questuon. I have a MacBook Air 2019 which takes 3.0 usb (since it has no actual USB ports I connect an adapter with several USB ports on it) you said this little capture card is 2.0. I got an elgato hd60 which was 2.0 and when I tried to connect it to my PS4 nothing showed up on my Mac. Is the same thing going to happen if I connect this 2.0 capture card to my 3.0 Mac?
It should be fine, but I'm honestly not sure. I feel like you should have been able to capture with your hd60. What program are you using to capture with?

Got a question, will this capture the party chat audio from both you and other members on ps4?
You need a mic to capture yourself. most headsets don't play your voice to your speakers/headphones. You'll need a separate mic on your PC to capture your audio.
The party chat can be captured by sending your party audio to your "speakers" in your console settings.

Connect the capture card to the laptop.
Connect your ps4 to the capture card. (Via hdmi)
Download OBS studio
Add source "video capture device"
Select the card. Make sure to also select "usb audio" in the same properties.
In obs settings, choose microphone that is your laptop microphone.

i've a question, so i will be streaming via OBS.. on my desktop pc, but my gameplay will be via a TV. and PS5. will the capture card pick up the TV???
You basically need an hdmi splitter that'll send the PS5 hdmi to the TV and the capture card in your pc.

I have not tried this with a firestick. However, as long as the source you are plugging into the capture card is and HDMI source, you should be fine. I think the firestick is an HDMI device right?

You'd need an hdmi splitter to send a signal to the laptop and the TV.

when I use it for consoles there's a second delay for audio but video is fine. Is there any workaround for that or...

In OBS, you can set a delay for audio or video with filters to match up.
For you, you'll have to get a splitter and play off of a monitor or TV so you get instant audio/video feed. The splitter would allow it to be sent to your cap card as well as your monitor.
So, I got the video capture from my PS4 displayed on my OBS, however I can't seem to capture the audio from my PS4 Party chat. Do you know how to fix this? (I'm currently using my Astro A40 TR headset for the audio; My OBS gets the game audio but not the party chat audio?)
Gotta send the chat audio to the hdmi since thats what your plugging into the capture card. :)

Is there an audio section in the source properties in SLOBS that allows you to choose the audio? Should be under where you select the capture cards settings like resolution and such.
Yo! just went through all the comments and couldnt find the answer to my question. I bought an HDMI Splitter, and this dongle. I'm able to get my device onto my second monitor(xbox 1) but it doesnt pick up my capture through OBS. Any work arounds on that? im so confused as to why its not picking up

Also, I've been hearing issues with these plugged directly into a PCs USB port. Do you have a USB extension cable by chance?
Anyone els have this problem ? I bought 2 incase the first was faulty because it either shows a black screen or colours in obs, or it captures the screen fine but the second I open a game the resolution changes to like 480p
Try to set the card to a custom resolution. Then plug in your source. Also, I recommend using a USB extension cable for this thing.

Another would be annoying. But you would have to get a splitter and manually swap your pc connect to your monitor to your Xbox instead. Basically, start streaming/recording, then unplug the hdmi from your pc and plug it into thr splitter connected to your console.
I bought a generic "USB HDMI capture card" it seems like a mash between the two you were showing. When I record gameplay it doesn't look good when I watch the recording and I'm not sure how it's gonna look for streaming, do I need to play with the video settings? What's up?
The recording looks bad? Looks like it's the encoding settings that are too low maybe.
Test this in your encoder settings in OBS:
(Make sure to look at the the advanced options rather that the "simple options". This is a drop down menu at the top of one of the settings pages. This is also pretty generic settings but hopenit helps!)
(If you got an RTX Card)
Encoder: NVENC
Bit rate: 6000-8000 kbps
Quality: max quality
(If you have a decent CPU)
Encoder: x264
Bit rate: 6000 kbps
Quality: fast or faster.
(The faster = less quality but might be needed to run your games better)
(If you have a budget PC)
Encoder: NVENC or x264
Bit rate: 3500-5000 kbps
Quality: max quality or very fast
Bit rate will affect quality a lot but you can't go over 6000-8000 on Twitch.
Encoder will tax your machine to get a video to your viewers. An rtx card will make this not a big deal. But using your CPU(x264) to encode will potentially cause your game performance to suffer.
For recordings, just set the bit rate to like 15-20,000 and you'll be happy.
I don't see any USB Video in the list, even if I connected the card, and the card is recognized by windows but not by OBS. I don't know why.
Could it maybe be called something else in the list? One thing you could test is streame labs obs. See if it'll show up there. If so, maybe reinstall obs?
Also you could check other programs like Discord, zoom, Skype, etc.
Do you absolutely need an external power source on the HDMI splitter? Or does it work just fine without it? I was looking at a couple that don't actually have a slot for them like yours had a microUSB one. Just one HDMI slot on one end and two on the other.
With my experience, most that don't have power end up messing up the colors and sometimes the image gets SUPER funky looking.

I would suggest the USB extension. I've heard issues with it directly plugged in, but also, the extension would save you from potentially breaking it while its sticking out of your pc.

So if i understand it Good with loop trough is actualy the Same as the Otter with Splitter but the Loop trough is just onze device instead of 2?
The capture card with the loop-through is basically the same as the main device I show here with an added option to send the HDMI signal elsewhere ontop of sending the signal to your PC. So, yes, you are correct.

I have the one with loop version and I gotta say it is recommended for those who want to stream their console games. if you can afford elgato/camlink maybe that’s the one you’re looking. but let say you’re new and you’re on a budget, you dont want to spend that much money just like me, well this could be the solution.
