Owned it for less than a day and you are already missing a fender and float tested it. This new ride suits you. I am excited for what the future holds.
I'm not a motorcycle guy but your energy is awesome dude. Finally TH-cam algorithm works and suggest correctly second time first one is pole barn garage second one is you
What a great proof of concept for a new kind of vehicle. Something like this, priced right, massaged a bit in terms of design (or hell, even as-is), could definitely change the world. If only they were manufactured and sold at scale. What a world we might live in.
I'm pretty sure the power going to the one wheel is due to a differential or diff for short. The diff gives power based on what can use the most of it, this is useful for having 1 wheel spin faster around a corner to save tire wear. The problem with diffs is that when offroading if 1 side has significantly less grip its going to give all of the motors thrust to that wheel, due to this technologies such as diff-locks and limited slip diffs exist for offroad vehicles. A diff lock locks the diff making both wheels rotate at the same speed no matter what and a limited slip diff limits the ratio of how much 1 wheel can spin faster than the other. In your case 1 side has ice and the other gravel, the icy wheel is going to start slipping an take all of the engines power to only that wheel.
Absolutely love the vibe mate and you his crew give out loving life to the max.Thank you so much Matt you and your boys are living the dream keep it coming One love peace out from Weston super mare south west of the UK
A long range mod test would be dope...see how far it can go, normal driving as is. Then, with as many mods as you can imagine (aux fuel / generator / charger), aero, etc...see how far you can get it to go on one fill up!
Build project idea: a trike with two QS motor hubs at the * front * and fly-by-wire arduino-controlled proportional power to each motor to provide steering input instead of a traditional rack and pinion system.
What you call 'proportional power' -- the industry calls 'torque vectoring' -- is mandatory. I have seat time in a dual motor tadpole Arcimoto that DIDN'T have variable front power, and it was the sketchiest thing I've ever ridden. Not 'Matt Spears' level of sketchy, but sketchy nontheless. ;-)
Obscene Distance Challenge - Pull a small trailer with a couple of Generators running and drive out on a quintessential American Road Trip lol que the 70's soundtrack
@@MattSpears Not sure it'll actually be true in your particular case but having a generator charging a battery running electric vehicle is one of the more efficient ways to use fossil fuels. The battery basically acts as an energy reservoir allowing you to size the internal combustion engine for the average energy usage rather than having to size it for the maximum energy needed. Looking forward to seeing what you do with it!
I think a fun idea would be to cross lake tahoe in it after you get a paramotor or something like that, or maybe find some strong water jets and make sure it doesn't sink. "We put a paramotor on a floating car and crossed Lake Tahoe" or something. Maybe to prevent it from sinking get an emergency CO2 or Nitrogen that fills some ballasts or something quickly incase it does start to go down or have a chase boat that can attach a rope quickly or something. Or hayabusa swap...
Iv always wanted to see a electric vehicle that's directly powerd by some kind of motorcycle engine hooked up to a generator. No battery. I was going to suggest just plain gas swapping it. But with hub motors it would be quite difficult and would probably compromise the whole floating thing with driveshafts and such. But say a bussa engine driveing a generator that directly powers the hub motors would probably rip and you'll have all the range you desire.
Probably can through a generator in there, but you're probably pulling more current from thr battery than the generator is putting in, but all depends how fast you drive it. The motor controller probably has a charger interlock signal, to prevent you driving away with the thing plugged into the wall. Youll have to bypass that signal.
I´d fix the steering first for sure, that should be easily doable, either a dirtbike handlebar in there or just a regular steering wheel. Second i´d look into bigger tires, not much but it needs nobbies for sure. Third i´d try and take off absolutely everything that is styrofoam and build an outer cage around it for obvious reasons if or when you roll down one of those mountains. Fourth, bigger controller, bigger engine, bigger batteries:p
Get some bigger wheels and better suspension. If you want more power get higher wattage motors for more power. Also would be cool if you put a ski on the front and paddles on the rear wheels
Lift it, put some tread on it (it’s a mini tank) and then paint it gold- as nod to the Goldwing and your ability to transform anything with a motor into gold-you’re an alchemist!!!
Recommend, one transverse Tesla (meaning inline with length) motor from an "s" class, and somehow fit a steering wheel geometry in. Likely never be stable either way, voltages, and charging issues. But honestly Why? Changed my while writing....lol 🍻 cheers.
Yes, you can. And wouldn't be hard to do. That's what they call a hybrid before. High bread's where I thing I seen one that was a small electric car towing a trailer for the generator that's how they got large distance between towns. In the way the steering is set up. That's The very first. golf carts used to be many years ago.
This is an unoriginal and not very creative idea, but it would be awesome to see that thing built up to be a beast like Grind Hard is doing to their ChangLi. Some proper offroad tires on it would be sick, but I guess finding some that fit without having to mod the car would be hard. Making it properly amphibious would be sweet as well.
What should we do with the Spira? Also anyone have a better TH-cam video title? struggling with that on this video
"To the future" would be minty title
Put some paddle tires on the back and you and your girl take it camping at the lake
A max distance test with a generator would be super cool!
Build it and race Vasily’s Hyabusa electric car 😮
that is the funkyist steering ever, see if you can mod it. Needs some bigger tires of course. maybe a lift kit :)
Just when you think you've seen everything on TH-cam - Matt Spears says, "Hold my beer" and does something utterly mind blowing. 🤯
Owned it for less than a day and you are already missing a fender and float tested it. This new ride suits you. I am excited for what the future holds.
the drift into perfectly framed segue at 4:17 was impressive
Dude first the Busa, then the goldwing and now Sister Nancy man I love this channel!!
I wish I could be as positive and fun loving as this kid.
Been loving the content lately! Keep it up bro
Thanks man! more to come
Uncle Matt's turkey call is on point. Glubllllugblug awesome
Super futuristic!! Im stoke where this is gonna go!
Me toooo! Love this car
Matt you've got Balls Of Steel ... You're a Legend Bro!! 👊
Dude, you make me smile the entire videos!!!
Congrats from Uruguay
Effin' hilarious! Matt, your unbridled childish joy is infectious and made my day. Thank you! 🤣
Just when we think you’re gonna zig, you Zag. Great content!
I can see the hayabusa swap already happening in your brain and i love it
I'm not a motorcycle guy but your energy is awesome dude. Finally TH-cam algorithm works and suggest correctly second time first one is pole barn garage second one is you
This is prime material for a Matt Spears / Aging Wheels crossover
That was wild, tiny ev car from snowy off-road to the lake, looks like you guys had a blast!
supah fun
It needs a smile painted on it between those headlights that look like eyes
The offroad capabilities is directly correlated to hip thrust strength
This reminds me of my better days in Maine snowmobiling. The camaraderie was second to none.

I can’t believe it still worked after you flooded it!!!
You pull everything through your arse 😂😂😂 Mat
Enjoyed
I'm still surprised by the low subscriber count. You deserver way more
The pool noodle steering column is as innovative as it is sick.
You guys are terrific, and seem like a lot of fun.
Needs wings and a small jet engine. A flying, driving, amphibious adventure vehicle. Suits you perfectly sir!
That would be cool! Sadly because of the weight it would not qualify as an ultralight, that would be the only way I could get away with that
Well rats !@@MattSpears
Well you did it again I mentioned before how I liked your videos and I like boating as well so great job on a successful video again.
Nailed the turkey call bud!

Kind of mad that you beat it up so bad so fast.
That thing is actually super cool 😎
Imagine my shock when I see Coeur d'Alene and instantly recognize it. Was _NOT_ expecting that lol
2 58 something flys behind matt from another dimension
This is freaking amazing!
Whatever item you fall in love with is doomed for immediate destruction
Matt is slowly becoming whistlindiesel and I love it
We need to watch it cross the country
Absolutely love the vibe mate and you his crew give out loving life to the max.Thank you so much Matt you and your boys are living the dream keep it coming One love peace out from Weston super mare south west of the UK
Add front wheel drive. Up grade shocks and some dirt tires. It would be cool. 👍 Keep up the good videos.
Hmmm, atv tire on the front and paddles on the rear? Should work in the dunes and help in the water? Fill the bottom with foam to plug the holes
the right tape will work better and be cheaper
Introducing, the hot air mobile balloon car. A true triple threat

Hahaha 😂 Matt, you're a madman. You go man.
You could put two two stroke racing scooter engines in that with steering brakes for when it wheelies! Off road will trash it quick though.
Oh no my boy is working his way up until he gonna strap a million balloons to a house and make it fly
The Cars and Cameras hovercraft crossover episode needs to happen! Think it’ll make it to the Carolinas 😂
Dude. Best video yet. 😂
Glad you enjoyed
The background music makes the video epic!

pretty sure you can rent these on the gold coast queensland australia and in Bali
I'm hella surprised you got it up Nettleton Gulch alone
Hey Matt, you should do a 100 miles challenge! Great work on the videos! :D
At first I was like oh cool ride, then u proceed to destroy it. Up a mountain? In the snow? Cmon man, stop saying “we have a problem here!” It’s you!
How fun! You sir are just a bit crazy.
Obscene Distance Challenge - Pull a small trailer with a couple of Generators running and drive out on a quintessential American Road Trip lol que the 70's soundtrack
You absolutely can charge the battery and drive at the same time.
Shweeeeeet

I’m impressed it made it that far on ice with motorcycle tires

Nice to hear sister Nancy
That was fun! Where did your buddy find this thing?
And I got to say your choice in music is fucin RPIC I'm 52 so HUGE Cooper fan good shit kid!
12:36 I definitely didn't expect you to go back in. Lol.

loved seein it drift the mounain roads
Some kind of overlanding involving water crossings would be great
definitely need to put some dirt bike tyres on it

1 minute in. already a W im in love with it XD
Theres things are about to be selling everywhere. With double the power and some tires that thing would be a death trap of fun
The motors on that thing are qs 273 based,, good motors, plenty of room to upgrade,,, find the controller see what amps its running
we need a collab between whistlin diesel and matt spears
Grind hard plumbing has done some cool stuff with e-vehicles
MATT SPEARS...INTERNATIONALLY KNOWN ON THE MICROPHONE
Awesome dude!
This is some quality content hahahaha
Love it. Cool adventure.
Damn that looks fun!

Damn good one ,
🤘🏻 🌟 🤘
Put the Goldwing engine in it
I've thought about it, would be sad to tear into Piggy
@@MattSpearsyou could buy one for it wings can be fairly cheap specially if your a wiz in the garage

Love it mate 🤣🤣
Was it advertised as being able to float?
i bet you could find lighter weight and more energy dense battery cells for it. improving the range alone could do you alot.
buys a floating car proceeds to take it off roading then wonders why it sinks
How come the headlights are different colors?
Lift it, put some tread on it (it’s a mini tank) and then paint it gold- as nod to the Goldwing and your ability to transform anything with a motor into gold-you’re an alchemist!!!
just needs a regular steering wheel and that's the bomb!
Need to put some Pirelli Scorpions on that thang.
Do a BDR trip! Dirt tires and an onboard generator.
Fix the electrical, put some off-roading tires on it, and then send it again.
Awesome dude
That’s crazzzzy!!! 🤣🤙🏼

Someone plays Skate 3 with that music choice.
