My 2024 Outback has left us stranded twice with CVT and gasket problems. Since I purchased gold warranty Subaru has covered all costs including shipping it back to us when it was not safe to drive 600 miles from home. I have put more miles on loaners and rentals than the 2024 Outback. Second Outback but the last one!
Own a 2018 Subaru Outback also and never had issue, that is why I bought a 2024 Outback. The 2018 did not have the start stop technology. The Start stop on the 2024 is very clunky and I turn it off every time I start I start the car. But also noticed sometimes when I forget to turn off Start/stop, it doesn't work. The Info screen creates a lot of glare. I will definitely trade this model in whenever I find an affordable car without the CVT.
Every once in a while there comes a lemon. I had the same issue with a 2006 Honda CRV. Every one speaks as this is one of the most reliable cars in the world. In my case it was a disaster. Three transmission. Plus new AC and the list went on and on. I got rid of it and bought a RV4. On the other hand my brother has a 2011 CRV and it has been super reliable. 👍
This is a low quality, low information review. Rattling off anecdotes of one user’s experience doesn’t really show incidence or causation of any particular problem. The Subaru Outback isn’t a Mercedes, everybody knows that. Everyone hates all touch infotainment systems & CVT transmissions, but guess what? All cars have them below a certain price level. Subarus are known for being reliable if maintained, period.
Good cars,at 75 years old,driving since I was 15 years old,in 1963,I am on my 4 th Subaru Outback,to say when I was 15,that at 75 years old I be driving a 4 cylinder Japanese car,I would of had you committed!Thomas A.Filipiak Palos Hills,Illinois!
Your, personal opinion,SUCKS! Since,2006,I have had 4 Subaru outback’s,they are great cars, only God can make perfection! Go lock yourself in your room, and stay there!
Having a ‘10 Forester, ‘19 Crosstrek, and ‘24 Outback I’ve never had a problem. The maintenance is kept up and we haven’t been too hard on them. I’m very satisfied with my safe and reliable choices.
I have a 2024 Outback and have had none of the problems recounted on this video. After 10,000 miles the only thing I have done is change the oil. It is recommended by Consumer Reports and has a very good frequency of repair record.
I have a 2023 Forester and it’s great, the AC is amazing in 100 degree weather. I had a 2015 Forester before my current one and it had 228k miles with the original engine and transmission.
I own a 2024 Subaru Outback with 11,000 miles on it. My AC died on the hottest day of the year while driving to the Shore 2 days ago. I called several local dealers and no one would look at it Friday afternoon or on a Saturday. Today I will drive home in the heat. The dealer who I bought if from will service it on Tuesday. A new car should not have an AC fail.
I think Subaru is the most hated vehicle brand in the world. I never see sooooo many bad videos as I see with Subaru. Still we, who owns one or more Subarus knows how amazingly they drives. Their safety and their reliability is as good as Toyota and Honda. CR rate this brand above those two. I am on my # 5 one and will never buy another brand. This is coming from a guy who loves and still think beautifully about Toyota and Honda.
Subaru certainly has it detractors, but at the same time has a fandom of brand loyalists in many parts of the world. My 2022 Outback is my 4th Subaru, and I find it to be a massive upgrade over my previous Liberty sedan I had for almost 20 years. Sure, there some issues (eg.the infotainment system), but overall the positives are huge (to me) - ride, comfort, economy, spaciousness, off-road ability etc. It's a great package along side other good competitors.
If you live on the west coast or in the northeast, Subarus have a cult following. They are durable, easy to work on and are a big hit with the outdoorsy types. People in flyover states see them as a cheap liberals car, but it’s really not. They are often handed down from parents to children when the kids go off to college.
Have a 2021 outback premium . No problems at all except updating my info system and maps navigation all by myself which took 2 hours lol. Info system is laggy though. Had x3 nails on the same tire and patch them and still running strong lol . Love outbacks
I have a 22 Outback Touring (non-turbo) and have had zero problems or issues, not even a squeak or rattle. After 2+ years of driving 44k miles my overall fuel average is 27.7 MPG and I get between 34-37 mpg on long highway trips. I would buy another Subaru without any hesitation.
Have 4 Subaru’s currently still in the family 2016 Outback 2018 Crosstrek 2019 Outback and my 2022 Legacy. My 2022 has the most issues. 800 miles oil leak, battery issues always having to use a trickle charger, infotainment glitches and unresponsiveness, windshield just cracked at 5500 miles sitting in the garage overnight with no impact. I currently have 6600 miles. Buy your Subaru but get the extended warranty if you plan to keep it past 3yr/36k. Are we still going to own more? Yes.
The 2 issues we had with our subaru (forester) was the USB socket would quit working and at 70,000 miles the thermal control valve went out which would have cost 3,000$ to fix if we didn't have the hook up we had. It's still a good vehicle but it's some things to be aware of.
There's a class action lawsuit for the thermal control valve issue. Hope you know about it. 2019 to 2021 outbacks, foresters, crosstreks, and legacy models. Folks are pushing for a recall.
@midwesternertk3714 That would be great because after a few things that my partner had to deal with she's wanting to dump her forrester for either a honda or toyota. I personally like subaru as I'm a fan of the outback unfortunately gas prices make it pretty prohibitive, so I got a kia hybrid it's been pretty solid so far traveling.
I own 2018 outback 3.6 R my car. It’s good perfect none of this problems what you’re saying I’ve been driving for six years my CVT it’s good. I pulled the trailer. I don’t have no issues. My car is very reliable perfect for winter and with V6 got enough power and it’s not that bad on a guzzling too. It’s very good car. I’m proud of it.
As I watch reviews of cars/SUV's/Trucks I'm hearing many reviews talked about the electronics/infotainment systems having issues. I'm in the market for a new car and I've pretty much narrowed it down to the 2024 Subaru Forester Wilderness. I've seen videos of the 2025, but I don't care for the Ford like front end and also the big infotainment screen.
I have a 2023 Forester Wilderness and I like it a lot but carplay/android auto is wired only and the camera system is pretty basic compared to what the new generation Forester gets.
I just bought my 2nd Subaru, a '24 Outback Wilderness. My first one was a '19 Crosstrek. Loved them both. No electronic problems thus far. Favorite 2 cars and I'm in my late 60s and I've had Toyotas, VWs and a Honda. Your mileage may vary, but some of the information in this video is just plain incorrect. Deceptive!
I have experienced a lot of these issues in my 2022 Outback, and yet I still love it and am in talks to lease a new one. Take these issues with a big grain of salt - every car has its own issues, these ones are really not deal breakers and many you will find across all vehicles with these features. The overall experience with the Outback has been second to none - the safety features alone make it the gold standard.
My '22 Crosstrek Limited also gets lousy real-world gas mileage (i.e. 21 mph city, 34 highway), but I do prefer the two-tier infotainment system. It's a lot easier to use, and it's nice having a CD player. I'll probably wait until the '25 Outback comes out before I trade it in. Hopefully, the enormous touch screen will be a lot more responsive by then.
I would not want my ac controls on that system. I would want them separate. When that screen goes out, and it will your shit outta luck in the extreme Texas summer with no AC. I prefer my 2010 outback with separate controls from the radio
Got 2024 outback XT limited here in MN, some of the complains are fair and I can see where they are coming from (especially the infotainment system🤮). But nothing major imo, and my driving experiences have been decent after 6k miles.
I have had a 2023 Subaru Outback XT now for 18 months, 19,000 miles and have noticed an occasional glitch with the infotainment system, but overall, nothing too drastic. It is a very comfortable and pleasurable vehicle, drive and I love it. Every vehicle you buy will have some issues and features that aren’t perfect, but is anything in our new high tech, computerized world without issues? If you are looking for perfection, get a vehicle that isn’t man made!
In Sydney heat, we don't even use a fraction of the 2023 Outback's AC power. Not a concern at all. Screen? Love it! Physical buttons for temperature plus front and back screen defrosting, knobs for volume and tuning. The rest is on the screen, but easily and quickly accessible. We also had a noisy seat ventilation - to a large extent fixed under warranty. Coming from a hydropneumatic Citroen I would say the ride quality is OK rather than fantastic. Small and large bumps are dealt with quite well, the medium-sized ones just OK. Slow? How long is a piece of string? In town it is a rocket: no turbo lag (well, no turbo...), always ready to accelerate. Heavy loaded on a freeway it is quick just enough. Have a look at the towing test videos - still managed to accelerate uphill with a 2000kg trailer. It is a bit heavy on the gas, but accepts our lousy 91-octane petrol. My son and brother also bought the 2022 and 2023 Outbacks - what a terrific value for money!
I find this all hard to believe, I have 22 outback onyx xt. I have not had one issue with the car, I traded in a 2017 outback limited which was equally as good.
I own an Outback 2023 and unfortunately I had problems to start the motor right at the first sign of frost (Oct 2023). After several months of investigation (broken down situation and even tow ...) the manufacturer changed a major electronic components in the dashboard. I like the big dashboard but because of all the electronic gadgets, it can cause battery drainage if you don't drive the car frequently. No matter the brand, if you have the bad luck to own a car that has a quality problem/defects with the electronics, it's complicate and $$$$ if you don' t have a guarantee. I really wish I could give a better review but this is the experience I have so far with my first S : (
@@darrylcullen2409I have had my 2024 for 5 months now. No problems and I absolutely LOVE it!! My best friend bought one after me and she loves hers too!
Those who complain the most usually have the least to complain about. Bought the 2024 BASE model starting at $30,000. Super trade in on 2018 Forester with 105,000 well maintained pluss $5,000 down. Cut the price down to $15,000 and a monthly payment of only $250! Bought 100,000 mile or 10 year extended warranty. Turned off not needed electronics and am happy driver! Have always stayed away from fancy models with all the bells and whistles because of the additional maintenance issues with cost. Be smart and know your stuff!
If you don't like the features on a car the answer is simple/ don't buy one. Buy a Caddie or 80,000 dollar SUV. Guess what, You can find similar criticism. The comments here are for the most part are critiquing features. Poor review.
My friend has it 23 outback and the CVT went out after 30,000 miles. It could not be repaired, and the dealer put in a brand new tranny from the factory. Plus, all the controls are in the info screen Seems very, very unsafe to me Further, that stop start feature is extremely hard on your engine battery and starter. Most better on the engine is when you start it up.
I got a letter from Subaru regarding battery drain. A module connected to Starlink causes Starlink to be connected to Internet all the time even after turned off causing the battery drain. They will fix the problem for free.
Hate my new 2024 Subaru Outback. Underpowered engine sounds like a lawnmower while laboriously accelerating to a smoking 65 mph. Chimes relentlessly - when I open the driver door or back into a parking place. Backing up -- perceives the asphalt street at the end of my driveway as a barrier and brakes violently. No way to permanently turn off the Drive Monitoring System (it goes crazy when i lower my sunglasses to scratch an eyelid). Climate control system very difficult to change while driving because controls are distributed across screens and buttons. Screen hard to read in sunlight.
