Being a fly tier myself, I am just amazed at his skill. The stick with a collar to hold the hook, lacquer coated with gold as a bead head and spinning feathers all by hand without a bobbin holder or whip finish tool... amazing. Very nicely done.
I've been tying flies for 20 years and I love so see someone so practiced and so knowlegdeable of their craft that they make it look easy. This gentleman is old schol too; no locking vise, no tools to hold thread or feather barb.
They fish for much smaller fish there than we do here in the USA. They sport fish for very small fish there Enjoyed your video so I gave it a Thumbs Up as a support

It's pretty neat to see how everywhere has different methods to tie flies, it's also funny that most of the round eye fly hooks that we use for fly tying are made in Japan and those are completely different hooks than the kind of hooks this man is using.
Every detail is important in this skill: the material and color of the thread, the quality of the feather, the type of hook, the type of animal hair, the position and even the knot with which everything is tied! And the secrets of manufacturing are kept in secret.
