    i have ordered one of these... what is it about us blokes of a certain age with grey hair buying loads of guitars..? i am 55 and spent last 20 years buying various types of guitars and i cant seem to stop... im not even a great player... definitely more of a rhythm player i dont lean towards lead i dont have shreddy fingers.. i dont even wanna be in a band (tried when i was 16) .. but i love sitting indoors learning stuff off you tube..ive had a few @£500 guitars.. ibanez and a mex strat.... sold them.. and i kinda love a good budget guitar, its never going further than my front room .. tried gibson les paul in a shop and it didnt impress me more than my epi lez.... i also find when a guitar has less bollox on it to fiddle with.. it makes you actually concentrate on string attack and little nuances you wouldnt usually bother with..... all part of the fun....

      I'm the same! I love just sitting around jamming along with tunes I first learned waaaay back when - and the less stuff on a guitar, the less there is to go wrong. That's why I think I've only ever owned one guitar with a Floyd Rose trem, man that was just too much work. These are really nice guitars, congrats on the purchase.

    I don't know what it was that made me absolutely need to have one of these, but I picked it up back in January. They're amazing instruments. Even with shipping to the States, they're still a great value. I admittedly wish I got the single cut, but the double is a beautiful instrument and a great rock and roll snarler! Great video. I've got the new DC60 in the blue ( sg junior) and its bloody awesome! I've changed the bridge to a low profile one as I thought the bridge was sharp on the edges. I also raised the p90 with the Roswell shim 4mm and that made a massive difference. Also put a better capacitor in it and was gonna change the pots but the alpha full size ones just work. Its probably my go to guitar at the moment ( well the last 6 months or so) over the 15 I've got of various price points. I love the fretboard its smooth and after a fret polish and 9s fitted it bends like a young pole dancer! I was going to swap out the p90 for a usa epiphone one over got in a box but I actually like the Roswell now it closer to the stings it has a nice twang when clean and roll off the tone and that fake bridge sound is awesome. Add some dirt through my valve head with a tube screamer it sings!

    Hi Dunsy, happy new year! I’m curious… did you end up keeping this Harley Benton? I just bought my first Harley Benton, and so far I’m very pleased. I will probably upgrade the pickups (to Fishman Fluence) and tuners (to locking tuners), but so far I’m very pleased with the workmanship and playability.

    • @DunsysGuitarWorld
      @DunsysGuitarWorld  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hey buddy, Happy New Year. I rarely keep guitars, tbh, regardless of what they are. I review at least 30 guitars a year, so I just don't have the room to keep them all. Plus I need to finance buying the next one to review. I have a bunch of guitars which I've kept for live use and that's about it. I've owned 3 HB's and thought they were all good guitars. Other than maybe changing the pickups to something I prefer (and maybe the tuners, depending on how they feel), I didn't see any need to change stuff. I wish they had had guitars of this quality for the budget when I started playing in 1980, or thereabouts.

Less options but I think it makes you play more to get more tones. If you don’t have a single pickup P90 guitar, I would definitely say you should get one. Great review feller. Value for money or what? We would have paid £300+ 15 years ago for this quality of guitar e.g. I owned a PRS SE Tremonti, whch played very nicely but had, at best average tuners, and shoddy electric comnponent finishing. I don't give a bleep bleep what name is on the hesadstock; I just care about playability, fit and finish and tone-ability.
    You made this HB J DC sound very nice indeed. It is a bargain, especially for a novice or beginner but also for a seasoned guitar player like yourself. Amazing at the price IMHO!

    What do you think about Navigator guitars from Japan? They are expensive I know! I will say I like the tone of that Harley Benton guitar great 80s rock tone! Super clear punchy! You must have turned the volume up to stack the deck! I don’t remember you playing that loud in any videos I’ve watched, or sounding that good. Now do the same thing with the Gibson for comparison! I would like to buy this guitar but there are too many horror stories with Thomann

    • @DunsysGuitarWorld
      @DunsysGuitarWorld  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, the Navigator's seem to be super expensive - and super well made from what I can see. Definitely outwith my budget, I'll say that! This wee HB is really nice for the money. Pickup sounds good at home volume, through my Mooer GE150, but I would need to try it at rehearsal volume to decide if I was going to keep it in there. Next comparison video with Gibson's will be suitably loud!

      Well spotted, Mr Songwriter. Dunsy may need an eye test, bless him. I guess Bobby makes a fair comment that even a three piece Harley Benton body on this DC is still great value for the price. I just wish those three pieces were evenly distributed. Oh well.

    • @MrSongwriter2
      @MrSongwriter2 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      istvanski I was just merely pointing out that the creator was incorrect. It was purely observation, like someone saying this guitar has a floyd rose when it’s a Kahler. When you’re buying a guitar a 2 piece is preferable, but at the given price of the HB it’s probably not going to make that much difference. My first guitar was a Yamaha rg110 with 1 humbucker. Nothing wrong with a single pickup guitar. However if I bought one of these I’d just route another pocket for a 2 pickup

    • @SpiritOfOrange
      @SpiritOfOrange 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, and I agreed with you. My comment was not intended to come across as a sarcastic response to your observation, in case you thought it was.

    I bought a harley benton, came with horrendous fretwork and very high action, not to mention the pickups were horrifically microhphonic, to the point that if you even turned on the slightest bit of gain, they would do a horrible squeal. The pickup selector switch was very low quality too. And considering it was a les paul style guitar, when I took off the pickgaurd, there was a huge dent in the guitar underneath it, definitely would not recommend the buy, some people may call me a guitar snob, but that is not true, my guitars are an ibanez jem jr and an epiphone sg pro, those definitely aren't snobby guitars, id like to believe that its not the same with all harley bentons, but I know someone who has one and it isn't good either

    • @DunsysGuitarWorld
      @DunsysGuitarWorld  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Adam, I must admit the only experience I had with Harley Benton prior to buying this one was a terrible guitar I played once in Germany. And it was just as you described. But I think that was a pretty old one, even then. I can only speak to this one and say that it played really well for the price point. But I would hate for someone to buy one and it not be as good - and you don't sound like any kind of guitar snob at all. People have different experiences with stuff and like different guitars, that's absolutely fine and it's always good to hear the other side of the argument. Not that I was arguing, of course, lol!
